Jackson Hospitalized After Trial, According to Lawyer

Michael Jackson entered the hospital suffering from dehydration and weight loss after his child molestation trial ended last month, according to his lawyer Tom Mesereau. While the Thriller was acquitted on all charges brought against him, he has yet to make a public appearance since he emerged from the Santa Maria, California, courthouse, and Mesereau has revealed that Jackson needed treatment. He told BBC radio in an interview, "Michael Jackson was ill from time to time. In fact, people didn't realize he actually entered the hospital after the verdict. He was dehydrated, he had lost a tremendous amount of weight, he was having trouble keeping food down, he was terrified about what was going happen to his children and he had a recurring back problem." Jackson, who appeared frail throughout his court battle, held up proceedings briefly during the trial when he entered hospital for treatment of the flu. On June 13, Jackson was acquitted of molesting a 13-year-old boy in 2003 as well as plying him with alcohol and conspiring to abduct the boy. The singer faced nearly 20 years in prison if convicted.

New Spielberg Movie Called 'Munich'

Steven Spielberg has confirmed his new movie dealing with the murder of 11 Israeli competitors at the 1972 Olympic Games will be named Munich. The hard-hitting movie, which is currently filming in the US, Hungary, Poland and Malta, follows a crack force of secret service agents ordered to assassinate the Palestinian terrorists suspected of carrying out the horrific killings. Troy heartthrob Eric Bana is playing the lead agent and is to be supported by Geoffrey Rush and Daniel Craig. Spielberg says, "The attack at Munich by Black September and the Israeli response to it was a defining moment in the modern history of the Middle East. By experiencing how the implacable resolve of these men to succeed in their mission slowly gave way to troubling doubts about what they were doing, I think we can learn something important about the tragic stand-off we find ourselves in today."

Miller "Ends" Engagement with Law

Heartbroken actress Sienna Miller has reportedly ended her eight-month engagement with Jude Law, telling the actor she never wants to see him again. The 23-year-old beauty, who started dating 32-year-old Law in October 2003, was devastated last week to read newspaper revelations about the Oscar-nominated star's month-long affair with his former children's nanny Daisy Wright. After taking off her engagement ring last week, Miller has apparently told Law there is no chance of a reconciliation, reports British newspaper The Sun. A friend of the couple says, "Jude is desperate to see Sienna so they can talk things through - but she point-blank refuses to see him. She is too angry to forgive him. She's told him in on uncertain terms that she never wants to see him again." Yesterday, Miller invited Law's All The King's Men co-star Sean Penn and his wife Robin Wright Penn to watch her perform in the London West End production of Shakespeare's As You Like It, before dining together at J Sheekey's fish restaurant.

Van Gogh Murderer Sentenced To Life in Prison

A Dutch court has sentenced a 27-year-old radical Muslim to life imprisonment after he confessed to the murder of film-maker Theo Van Gogh. Van Gogh, the great-great-grandson of the brother of artist legend Vincent Van Gogh, was fatally stabbed and shot in Amsterdam last November. Mohammed Bouyeri felt compelled to kill Van Gogh after he was angered by the director's unflattering portrayal of Islam in his August 2004 film Submission. In his defense, Bouyeri said he had acted out of religious conviction, saying "the (Islamic) law compels me to chop off the head of anyone who insults Allah and the prophet". The Amsterdam court ruled Bouyeri - who hold joint Moroccan and Dutch nationality - had shown "a complete disregard for human life" and condemned the murder as a terrorist act. Van Gogh's 14-year-old son broke down in court during vivid descriptions of his father's murder and was comforted by his mother. Bouyeri was also convicted of attempting to murder several police officers and illegal possession of firearms.

Stunt Trouble on the 'Smallville' Set

A stunt coordinator on the set of cult TV Superman drama series Smallville was taken to the hospital yesterday when a stunt went awry. Details of the man's injuries were not available when WENN went to press, but they were enough to halt filming and keep the unnamed stuntman in hospital for observation. A studio representative insists no cast members were hurt during the incident in British Columbia, Canada. It's not the first time the Smallville set has been the site of a stunt-gone-wrong - stuntman Bill Stewart was left badly cut after a glass window failed to shatter properly as he fell through it during one scene in 2003.

Knoxville Begs Tabloids To Stop Writing Up Simpson Romance Rumors

Movie star Johnny Knoxville is urging the media to stop writing stories about a rumored romance between him and Dukes Of Hazzard co-star Jessica Simpson because they're upsetting his family. The Jackass star has laughed off the rumors up until now but he admits the persistence of them is beginning to ruin his home life. Knoxville says, "It's an unfortunate thing because I have a wife and a nine-year-old and that stuff is hard on the family. Luckily, my wife and I have a dialogue and I said, 'Look, people are making these stories up and putting them in the papers.' She understands but of course she doesn't like it. I didn't like it and I'm sure Jessica and her husband Nick Lachey didn't like it." The actor insists he can't do anything but plead with editors to stop writing the stories - because he accepts such coverage comes with being famous. He adds, "It's part of the business and you try not to give it too much attention. It seems to give it more attention by fighting it, so it seems like a waste of time." And he admits he himself is a huge fan of the tabloids: "There seems to be more magazines coming into circulation and I always buy them."

Sean Astin a Dad Once Again

Lord Of The Rings star Sean Astin and his wife Christine are celebrating after welcoming their third daughter into the world on Friday. Isabella Louise was born a month premature weighing 5 pounds, 4 ounces, but was still well enough to join the couple and their two other children - Alexandra, eight, and Elizabeth, two - at home in Los Angeles the day after she arrived. Astin's spokesman David Lust tells People magazine, "Mom and baby are fine and everyone is very happy." Astin, 34, and Christine, 35, have been married since 1992.

Golden Globes To Dodge 'Desperate Housewives' Competition

Desperate Housewives is proving to be such a huge hit in the US, bosses of the Golden Globes are considering moving next year's ceremony to another day to avoid competition. The comedy, which stars Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, Nicolette Sheridan and Felicity Huffman, currently airs in America on Sundays on TV network ABC, and has consistently dominated its timeslot since its October debut. And bosses at rival network NBC are hoping to move the Golden Globes from its traditional Sunday slot to Monday. The ceremony is currently set to take place on January 15, and with the change will air a day later.

More Trouble for McCready

Troubled country star Mindy McCready's terrible 2005 just got worse - the singer has reportedly been hospitalized in Florida after an overdose. According to authorities, the singer was found unconscious in a hotel lobby in Pinellas County, Florida on Friday. Her former lawyer, Dennis Tomlin, refused to go into details about her latest trouble, but he has confirmed his ex-client was hit with identity theft charges in Arizona last week and the stress may have sent her to intensive care at a hospital near where she was staying with her mother. McCready has also faced allegations of driving under the influence and a drug violation in the past two years and earlier this year she fell apart in court while testifying against a former boyfriend, who broke into her Tennessee home and beat her. She was scheduled to appear in court Monday for a probation violation hearing. A judge ordered Tomlin to produce an affidavit from her doctor by Wednesday.

Kidman Takes Time Out

Nicole Kidman is taking a lengthy break from Hollywood to spend time with her children. The Bewitched actress has wrapped eight films in the last two years and has a further four in the pipeline this year. But she warns fans to make the most of her now - because she'll soon disappear. Kidman says, "You won't see me for a long time. It could be a year, it could be two. I'm not going to give you my holiday schedule, but there'll be a few. It'll be a while before I come back."
