Crowe Regrets Hotel Incident

Hollywood hardman Russell Crowe deeply regrets injuring Nestor Estrada during an altercation at a New York City Hotel - and he will accept any punishment dished out to him. The Gladiator star lost his temper with the night porter at the Mercer Hotel after Estrada failed to connect the Crowe's phone call to his family in Australia on Monday morning. He threw his room's telephone against a wall and inflicted minor injuries on Estrada's face in the process. Crowe maintains he did not intend to hurt Estrada, but accepts responsibility for the results of his hot-headed actions. He says, "I am in a lot of trouble. I'm at the bottom of a well. I can't communicate how dark my life is right now. I will spend the rest of my life, if it takes it, trying to make it up with my wife. I'm very sorry for my actions. I know it's my fault. I'll cop whatever I cop. I wasn't aiming at him, but I've got no excuses." Crowe had only just returned from a brief visit to the UK to watch a boxing World Title fight between Kostya Tszyu and Ricky Hatton. He continues, "We flew over and back again in 20 hours. Not being able to tell your wife you're safe and OK is frustrating... I'm not trying to be pessimistic I'm just looking at what the situation is. It's a seven year jail sentence. The only hope I've got is to rely on his good graces. I wouldn't imagine he feels any obligation to do anything nice and I can understand that position completely." Crowe will face assault and criminal possession of a weapon charges when he returns to Manhattan Criminal Court on September 14.
Culkin Gets Deferred Sentence for Drug Rap
Home Alone star Macauley Culkin has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of possession of medication without a prescription and marijuana. The former child star appeared in court yesterday in Oklahoma to answer the charges brought following his arrest last September. He was given a deferred sentence and fined $540. Culkin was arrested after police found marijuana and anti-depressants in a car he was traveling in. Assistant District Attorney Greg Mashburn revealed he believed the incident was a rare one for Culkin, and he was pleased to note the actor had already completed all probationary requirements, including passing a drug and alcohol assessment. Outside court, he said, "This was a rare circumstance for Mr. Culkin. He is not an abuser."
'Simpsons' Movie Confirmed

Homer Simpson and his hugely popular family are set to hit the big screen in a new full-length movie based on the cult cartoon series. The show's principal voice actors have all signed on for the project and creator Matt Groening is delighted with the script for the film. The Simpsons' spokeswoman Antonia Kaughman says, "Now we're going to get the best of both worlds, evidently... They finally worked out a movie team, a team of the writers, because we could never hire outside writers - they had to be Simpsons writers, and most of them were working on the show. They finally put this team together that has time on the side, and they've been working on the script. So the movie won't be at the end of the series - they'll be working simultaneously."
Hospital Officials Hit Back at Kylie Treatment Reports

Officials at Melbourne, Australia's Cabrini Hospital have hit back at media claims Kylie Minogue was given priority over other patients during her recent breast cancer treatments. The hospital's CEO Roger Greenman has fired off a statement on Minogue's own website declaring press reports the ailing singer received star treatment are false. Greenman insists Minogue was treated like all other patients and no ambulances were turned away from the Emergency Department, no patient was moved from their room, no rooms were repainted pink and no staff were asked to sign confidentiality agreements - as was reported. He states, "The reporting of these inaccuracies represents a disappointing attack on the integrity of our hospital and staff." Freeman goes so far to address each aspect of the false story, adding that far from turning people away, the hospital "had the highest number of attendances for any comparable period this year" during Minogue's stay. He explains that reporters covering the story may have been confused by the fact that an "ambulance bypass was necessary to ensure that the ED (Emergency Department) could appropriately treat patients who had already presented". And, as for the claims that staff were asked to sign confidentiality agreement, Greenman scoffs, "No staff were asked to sign confidentiality agreements. We have complete trust in our staff to preserve the privacy of patients and we would consider the signing of such documents an affront to their integrity."

Lopez and long-time friend Anthony shocked Hollywood when they wed in a secret ceremony at the beauty's Beverly Hills, California mansion, after only a four-month courtship and five months after she ended her high-profile engagement to Ben Affleck. America's Star magazine reports the couple's initial courtship was so fast, they were never formally engaged, so Anthony thought it was a romantic gesture to give her an engagement ring. A family friend says, "It sounds a little odd, but Marc and Jennifer were never really engaged - they just got married. So, to mark their first anniversary, Marc officially proposed, this time presenting Jennifer with an engagement ring from exclusive jeweller-to-the-stars Neil Lane. It's huge, and it sparkles beyond belief. Jennifer was very excited to get it."
