Shields Attacks Cruise for Criticizing Her Drug Use

Actress Brooke Shields has lambasted former pal Tom Cruise for criticizing her "misguided" use of drugs to combat her post-natal depression. Cruise - who claims to have helped people fight drug addictions through his controversial Scientology religion - recently attacked the Suddenly Susan star for becoming dependant on Paxil, following the birth of her daughter Rowan. But Shields is disgusted by the Top Gun star's "dangerous" comments and took a swipe at his Scientology beliefs, by saying she wouldn't take advice from someone who devotes his life to creatures from outer space. She fumes, "His comments are dangerous. He should stick to saving the world from aliens." Shields is currently weaning herself off her medication so she and husband Chris Henchy can have another child.
Kidman Slams Reports Knee Injury Threatened Her Career
Nicole Kidman has furiously slammed reports a knee injury sustained in 2000 almost ended her movie career, because it made her insurance too high for film bosses to cover. The Hollywood beauty damaged her right knee while filming movie musical Moulin Rouge and was forced to delay the film while she recovered, causing two claims for the postponements and a staggering $3 million insurance loss, according to movie industry guru Edward J. Epstein. Epstein also alleges on website Slate.Com that the Australian actress cost insurers an additional $7 million the following year when her recurring injury forced her to quit thriller Panic Room, after three weeks of shooting. And he has infuriated Kidman by reporting her growing claims made her too expensive to insure for 2003 movie Cold Mountain, which meant she had to put a significant amount of money into an escrow account, which would cover her insurance if she caused any further postponements. But the 37-year-old star has denied the claims she put money into an escrow account, and insists her injury only affected a small number of films. Epstein tells website Pagesix.Com, "Kidman had to put a substantial amount of her salary in an escrow account, which would go to the insurer if she caused any delay, and she agreed to wear a support bandage." Kidman's representative Catherine Olim counters, "She has never had to put her salary in escrow. That's not true. Nor does that (knee) problem even exist anymore. It hasn't been an issue on the last several films."
Jackson Team Close Case Following Shocking Video Claims
Michael Jackson's defense team closed its case early on Friday, after jurors were shown a shocking video of the singer's teenage accuser describing how Jackson abused him five times and gave him alcohol on several occasions in 2003. The Bad star's lawyer's shock decision not to present a response to the prosecution's rebuttal - which involved a video of police investigators interviewing Jackson's accuser - means closing arguments could begin by Wednesday with the jury retiring next week. The troubled star's legal team had planned to cross-examine the accuser, his mother, a psychologist and the family's lawyer after the controversial video had been played. But the defense decided not to present any witnesses following the taped interview, which was made in July 2003 - four months after the alleged abuse occurred - and features the boy, then 13, describing how Jackson forced alcohol upon him despite the fact he only had one kidney following treatment for near fatal cancer. The video also includes the boy's claims Jackson masturbated him, showed him pornography and walked naked in front of him. He tells police in the interview, "He said he wanted to show me how to masturbate. I said 'no' and he said he would do it for me." Jackson has pleaded not guilty to 10 felony charges of child molestation, administering an intoxicating agent and conspiracy involving allegations of child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion. The trial continues.
Lohan's Father Will Serve Up To Four Years in Prison

Hollywood beauty Lindsay Lohan's father Michael will serve up to four years in prison, after pleading guilty to drink driving, attempted assault, aggravated harassment and criminal contempt. Nassau County prosecutor Joy Watson has confirmed the Freaky Friday star's father received the jail sentence on Friday for crimes including crashing his car into a utility pole in Long Island, New York in February. The violation was upgraded to aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after investigators discovered he had been driving with a suspended or revoked license and had a blood alcohol reading of nearly double the legal limit. He was also sentenced for attempting to attack his brother-in-law with a shoe at a party in May, which he pleaded guilty to in December. The 44-year-old also pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment, for threatening another brother-in-law over the telephone, and to criminal contempt, for breaking a court restraining order by driving to his estranged wife's house. Michael's lawyers asked the court if he could enter a drug rehabilitation program instead of serving the jail sentence, but the judge denied the request. His defense attorney says, "Michael will seek treatment so that he can put his life back in order and put his relationship with his children back in order."
Liman Fears Jolie and Pitt's Sex Scenes Will Spark Movie Boycott

Director Doug Liman fears the shocking sex scenes between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in new movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith are so realistic, fans of Pitt's estranged wife Jennifer Aniston will boycott the film. Pitt and Jolie have repeatedly denied reports they started a passionate affair on the movie's set, causing the heart-throb's high-profile split from Aniston in January. But Liman is terrified Aniston's loyal admirers will see the graphic onscreen love-making and presume he has captured their moment of betrayal on film. And his anxieties sparked a vicious war of words with producer Dave Matalon, who wanted to delete the scenes to avoid losing audience figures. Liman says, "Matalon said, 'I don't want to lose that audience of people who are huge Jennifer Aniston fans, who are going to hate Angelina Jolie because the sex scene's too sexy. People will see the sex scene and say, 'Oh that's how Angie did it'. It'll be like , 'She used her wiles to seduce him'."
Patrick Stewart Rushed To Hospital with Chest Pains

Former Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Patrick Stewart was rushed to the hospital yesterday after suffering chronic chest pains while shooting a new science fiction TV show. The 64-year-old halted filming of British miniseries Eleventh Hour and asked a crew member to take him to the Manchester Royal Infirmary, after suffering a heart scare. But doctors gave him an Electrocardiogram and concluded his heart was healthy, so he returned to the set three hours later. A spokeswoman for production company Granada TV says, "Patrick is absolutely fine and is back on set working." An insider adds, "Patrick has been working very hard in recent weeks, because the filming schedule is really tight. The director suggested he go for a check-up just in case."
Blake Faces Ex-Wife in Court Again

Actor Robert Blake is set to face one of his toughest days in court to date, as he faces testimony from his first wife again in the ongoing civil case brought against him by his murdered wife's family. Attorney Eric Dubin, who is representing the family of Blake's slain wife Bonny Lee Bakley, has called on Sondra Kerr - the actor's ex-wife - to testify about her violent encounters with the Baretta star. The former husband and wife came face to face briefly on Friday as the civil case against Blake heated up. Kerr's attorney Gloria Allred entered the court on Friday insisting there was little she could say about the proceedings, but she revealed, "It wouldn't surprise me if they asked about whether or not there were any acts of violence during the relationship." Dubin explained to US news show Celebrity Justice that he called on Kerr because he hoped Blake's behavior towards her could establish a pattern of violence. He explained, "I think there's a lot of conduct that occurred with Bonny and we're going to talk about it." Blake was acquitted of the murder of Bakley in March, but his slain wife's family still maintain the actor is guilty.
'SNL' Star Mocks Cruise and Holmes Romance
Saturday Night Live funnywoman Tina Fey mocked Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' high-profile romance in front of a host of celebrities on Wednesday night. The Mean Girls star and scriptwriter and fellow SNL anchor Amy Poehler entertained a-listers Gwyneth Paltrow, Whoopi Goldberg, Jay-X and TV reporter Diane Sawyer at the Robin Hood Foundation's fundraising gala in New York city. Comedienne Fey took the opportunity to mock Cruise's now infamous appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show earlier this month, when the movie hunk baffled viewers by displaying his joy of being "in love" by leaping over furniture and pounding the floor with his fist. At the gala, Fey high-fived Poehler, before thrusting her fist in the air, saying, "I love this woman! This woman is so hot..! She's a woman!" After slapping herself, shouting, "Oh my God, I'm so gay," Fey's star-studded audience burst into laughter, reports gossip site Pagesix.Com.
Channing Plans To Fight DUI Charges

Actress Stockard Channing is planning to challenge her recent drink driving charge, by insisting the instruments Los Angeles cops used to breathalyze her were faulty. The West Wing star has called in top DUI defender, attorney Richard Hutton, to help her fight her case and have misdemeanor charges against her dropped. Channing pleaded not guilty to two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in a Los Angeles court last month, and faces a fine and probation if she's found guilty. She was arrested while driving on the hard shoulder of Los Angeles Hollywood Freeway in December.
Fonda Wanted for 'Nine to Five' Sequel

Actress Jane Fonda is in negotiations to reprise her role in a sequel to the hit 1980 movie Nine To Five. Movie bosses are impressed by Fonda's return to the big screen in Monster-in-Law - in which she battles Jennifer Lopez over her doted-upon son, played by Michael Vartan. And they are keen to sign Fonda up for a follow-up to the office comedy, in which she starred alongside Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin - because the other two leads have been ready and willing for some time. A source tells website The Scoop, "They've wanted to for years. There's been scripts, potential directors, the works, but everyone thought that for it to really work, they'd need the three leads from the original film. They've talked to Fonda and think they can make this happen. There's some discussion that it might be called Nine To Five Thirty." Fonda's spokeswoman Pat Kingsley, however, insists nothing has been agreed. She says, "There have been no serious conversations about that or any other film project at this time."
