Belgian Film Takes Palme D'Or

Belgian movie L'Enfant beat 20 other films to win the coveted Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Saturday. L'Enfant, which has the English title of The Child, was directed by brothers Luc Dardenne and Jean-Pierre Dardenne and follows a young couple struggling to survive in France's urban jungle. This year's festival marked the second time the Dardenne brothers have picked up the prestigious Palme D'Or - they previously won it in 1999 for Rosetta. Elsewhere, Tommy Lee Jones won the Best Actor award for his role as Pete Perkins in western The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada, which he also directed. Jones' film also won Best Screenplay for its writer Guillermo Arriaga. Israeli Hanna Laslo picked up the Best Actress prize for her role in Free Zone, about a borderless Middle East. She dedicated her award to her mother, who died in the Holocaust. American director Jim Jarmusch won the Grand Prix award for his film Broken Flowers, which stars Bill Murray, Sharon Stone and Jessica Lange. Chinese filmmaker Wang Xiaoshuai won the Special Jury Prize for Shanghai Dreams. Michael Haneke won the Best Director award for French film Hidden, while Best Short Film went to Wayfarers by Ukraine moviemaker Igor Strembitskyy.

Kylie in "High Spirits" After Lump Removed

Pop singer Kylie Minogue is "feeling fine" after a cancerous lump was removed from her breast during surgery in a Melbourne, Australia, hospital on Friday. The hitmaker, 36, shocked her fans on Tuesday when she announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and subsequently cancelled the Australian and Asian legs of her Showgirl world tour. With her parents Ron and Carol, singer sister Dannii, cameraman brother Brendan and French actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez nearby, Minogue was operated on by top surgeon Jenny Senior at the city's St Frances Xavier Cabrini Hospital. Dr Senior says, "I am very pleased to be able to confirm that the operation was successful. I feel confident that we caught the cancer in time and that she is now on the road to complete recovery. Kylie has been the perfect patient and has charmed all my staff. I just wish I could have met her under happier circumstances. Kylie is now resting after the operation and her spirits are high and she is feeling fine. She has her family and friends around her. Finally, Kylie has asked me to pass on her thanks once again to all who have expressed their love and concern for her. Your support has certainly helped her through a tough time." Meanwhile Australia's Cancer Council charity has created a special Kylie Minogue Breast Cancer Fund and received $6,000 in donations in its first 24 hours.

Lohan Slams Eating Disorder Rumors

Teen star Lindsay Lohan has slammed reports she is suffering from an eating disorder, insisting her new skinny frame is down to her strict fitness regime. The Mean Girls beauty, 18, shocked her fans earlier this year by dying her trademark red hair blonde and losing her famously ample chest, although she insists her new look is only temporary for her next film Fashionistas. She explains, "I'm happy with my life, and I love food. I'm just in training for a movie that I really want to do." After Fashionistas, Lohan is rumored to be set to appear opposite Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible III.

Jolie Out and About with Ex

Angelina Jolie's mysterious love life has taken another twist - she's been spotted in London on a date with her first husband Jonny Lee Miller . Jolie watched the British actor perform his new play Someone Who'll Watch Over Me at London's New Ambassador's Theatre last night, before the pair set off for celebrity restaurant The Ivy together. They went their separate ways after dinner - but the sighting adds to the confusion over Jolie's romantic attachment, just weeks after magazines proclaimed she was dating newly single Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt. Jolie last sought solace with Miller - to whom she was married between 1996 and 1999 - after ending her second marriage to Billy Bob Thornton in 2003. She said at the time, "Divorcing Jonny was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done."

Tara Reid To Resume Partying - For Her New Job

American Pie star Tara Reid is finally embracing her party girl image, after signing up to report from a range of fetes around the world for a US cable network. The actress will host the E! network's globetrotting party series Wild On! when the new season starts in August. E! says in a press release, "Known for hitting Hollywood's hotspots, Tara will now take viewers along as she skips to the front of the line and straight past the bouncer at the wildest parties in the world." It's a far cry from Reid's recent past, where she expressed frustration that she wasn't being taken seriously in Hollywood, following reports about her party-hopping.

Zellweger Finally Speaks About "Really Cute" Chesney

Renee Zellweger has dropped her notoriously private stance to gush about her new husband, singer Kenny Chesney. The Oscar-winner always remained tight-lipped over her previous relationships with Jim Carrey, George Clooney and White Stripes rocker Jack White, but since her shock May 9 wedding to the country star, she is happy to discuss her love. Zellweger and Chesney wed on the Caribbean island of St John after a whirlwind four month romance. She gushes, "I haven't had time to really sit down and absorb it all, but I'm very, very happy. I've met someone who understands me and my life, what makes me happy and what's important to me - and that's invaluable. And he is really cute."

Del Toro Rescues Cruz from Elevator

Benicio Del Toro has come to the rescue of Penelope Cruz and her mother after they all got stuck in an elevator at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The Oscar-winning actor saved the Spanish beauty and her mother Encarna from being stranded in the lift after it suddenly shut down as they headed towards a meeting at the Majestic Hotel, where Cruz was attending the film festival to promote drama Chromophobia. A source says, "It was a very scary experience, the lift stopped and no one knew what had happened. Penelope was pretty calm but her mother is claustrophobic and really started panicking. Benicio managed to get them both out of the lift single-handedly even though they were stuck between two floors. He has amazing upper-body strength and lifted Penelope out of the top of the lift like she was a doll." Del Toro adds, "It was pretty hairy but I only did what any other man would do. I was glad to be able to help out."

Watts in Love

Australian actress Naomi Watts has reportedly found love with a mystery film producer. The 21 Grams beauty, 36, has started dating a film-maker and art collector, known only as Gary, according to American newspaper The New York Daily News. When asked for comment, Watts' representative responds, "I don't comment on these types of questions." Watts split from her Ned Kelly co-star Heath Ledger, 26, in May 2004 after a two year relationship. Ledger is now dating former Dawson's Creek actress Michelle Williams, who has recently been rumored to be pregnant with their first child.

Priestley Weds Lowde

Ex-Beverly Hills, 90210 star Jason Priestley married his long-term lover Naomi Lowde last weekend in a lavish ceremony on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Priestley's publicist Marla Weinstein confirmed the 35-year-old actor and make-up artist Lowde became engaged last May and walked down the aisle at the weekend. This will be Priestley's second marriage - he walked tied the knot with another make-up artist, Ashlee Petersen in 1999, but split less than ten months later.
