Fonda Attacks Iraq War

Barbarella star Jane Fonda resumed her outspoken ways Wednesday night, when she attacked the current war in Iraq. The 67-year-old Monster-in-Law actress, who was both praised and vilified for her protests against the controversial Vietnam War in the 1960s and early 1970s, made an appearance on David Letterman's TV show, where she was asked how she felt about the current conflict. She sparked applause from the studio audience when she responded, "I think the war is wrong. I think it's a mistake and I think that we should get out."

Jackson Jurors Accused of Mocking Witness

A journalist covering Michael Jackson's child molestation trial has accused several jurors of laughing about a witness's tearful testimony. A 24-year-old man sobbed on Monday as he told jurors that Jackson groped his crotch over his clothes twice in the 1980s and touched his groin under his clothes in 1990, while ticking him. And Robert Cole, a foreign editor for British news station Sky News, claims he overheard jurors mimicking the man's emotional testimony, during the trial's recess. Cole says, "All I heard was, 'He was like uh-huh-huh (imitating a crying sound)' and then I heard laughter. It sounded like they had just heard this kid crying and they were kind of laughing at what had happened, mimicking him. I didn't hear any names or anything... I don't know if they were talking about him or not." But court administrator Darrel Parker insists, "It is an unsubstantiated rumor and there is no investigation."

Farrell Accuser Fails Lie Detector Test

The woman who accused Colin Farrell of stalking her is convinced the Irish lothario persuaded TV bosses to belittle her claim in a new show about her allegations - in which she fails a lie detector test. Former sex-chat-line worker Dessarae Bradford agreed to take a polygraph test on US network PAX-TV's Lie Detector show, to prove she was telling the truth when she filed a lawsuit alleging Farrell tormented her with lewd phone calls and text messages. But when the program's host Rolonda Watts told Bradford the machine had proved she was lying, Bradford called her a whore and accused the Phone Booth hunk of bribing the show's bosses to undermine her claims. Bradford, who's currently promoting her self-published book Colin Farrell: A Dark Twisted Puppy, fumes, "I was set up. I think Colin's lawyer and the people who handle his image have spent tens of thousands of dollars to manipulate the outcome of the show. He became obsessed with me, so they tried to chew me up in the Hollywood machine." But Watts counters, "She called me a Hollywood whore. It's the first time I've ever wanted to walk out of an interview. I wanted to jump across that table and strangle her." Executive producer Mark Phillips laughs, "Yes, Colin Farrell paid me $2 million, and he gave me a cashier's check." Farrell's rep adds, "We don't know her. As far as I know, her case was dismissed in Santa Monica City Court on March 24." Bradford and her Los Angeles lawyer Sean Bral have vowed to refile the lawsuit against Farrell in a higher court.

Barrymore Reunites with Mother

Charlie's Angels star Drew Barrymore has mended her troubled relationship with her mother Jaid Barrymore, following the death of her father John last year. The actress has endured a troubled relationship with both of her parents and became a legally emancipated adult at the age of 15. But since her dad's death she has decided it's time to make amends with her mom. She says, "(Our relationship) is more functional than it has been. My dad passing definitely made me go, 'You've got to let bygones be bygones'. It just made me have a more open mind and an open heart. It matured me."

Kidman Loses Her Rich Crown

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has been knocked off the top of Australia's rich list - by children's entertainment troupe The Wiggles. The musical quartet - who have garnered millions of fans around the world with their fun-filled TV shows - earned a massive $34.9 million in 2004 from the sale of CDs, videos and other merchandise. The Wiggles' phenomenal rise to prominence has forced Moulin Rouge and The Interpreter star Kidman into second place on BRW magazine's list, with a 12 month salary totaling $30.8 million.

Hilton Not Impressed with Australian Stay

Celebrity socialite Paris Hilton is no fan of life in Australia after filming new movie House Of Wax in the Antipodean country. The hotel heiress and star of The Simple Life TV series was shocked by the underhand tactics of Australian paparazzi while shooting the horror movie - a re-make of the 1953 classic starring Vincent Price. She says, "It was really annoying in Australia with the press, the paparazzi. Every time I'd be in, like, the hot tub or whatever, like, the next day it would be on the cover of every magazine."

Emmy Speeches To Be Cut

Bosses of America's prestigious Emmy Awards are cutting down on the number of acceptance speeches, in an effort to entice more TV viewers. Only 14 million viewers tuned in to watch the three-hour prize-giving event last year - marking the Emmys' second-lowest ratings ever - and chiefs are desperate to make the telecast more exciting. Dick Askin, chairman and chief executive of the Academy Of Television Arts And Sciences, says the ceremony will continue to recognize the best in TV but at a "better pace".

Guest Dumps Mockumentaries

This Is Spinal Tap icon Christopher Guest has disappointed fans by refusing to make any more "mockumentary" movies - because he no longer finds them funny. The actor/director realized he'd made too many comic documentaries when he helped compile Best In Show, the Museum of Modern Art's retrospective of his movies in New York. Guest explains, "I had always intended to do just three movies in that format, and then do something else. I don't think I'll go back to the documentary-style genre. Eugene Levy (his friend and collaborator) and I talked about different possibilities. One was a Western. I'm not trying to make blockbuster movies. I don't know how to. I'm just trying to make movies that are funny for me."

Vartan: "I Was Not Punk'd"

Alias star Michael Vartan has blasted reports he refused to sign a release form after he was pranked on Ashton Kutcher's Punk'd show - insisting the practical joke never happened. US tabloids reported the former boyfriend of Daredevil star Jennifer Garner turned sour when he was made to look foolish during an elaborate prank on the MTV show, when parts of a plane started falling off before he was about to fly. But Vartan insists he was not the target of the practical joke. He says, "I was never 'Punk'd' on an airplane, so I don't know where they got the story." But the actor admits the prank would have been a good one, because he's terrified of flying. He adds, "I'm terrified of flying so to get on an airplane and then had pieces of the plane start falling off, that would be very funny."

Thompson Memorial Ready

Author Hunter S. Thompson's ashes will be fired by cannon across his American estate, as requested in his will. The bizarre ceremony will take place in August, after a giant cannon has been built and mounted inside a 54-feet tall sculpture of a 'Gonzo fist' - Thompson's trademark and a nod to the 'gonzo' style of journalism he invented - which itself will stand on a 100-feet high pillar. The event will be part of a ceremony to celebrate the life of the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas writer, who committed suicide at his secure compound near Aspen, Colorado, in February at the age of 67. His wife Anita says, "It's expensive, but worth every penny. I'd like to have several explosions. He loved explosions."
