Jackson's Trial Resumes After Unexpected Delay
Michael Jackson's child molestation trial resumed yesterday morning, an hour and a half after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest. Furious Judge Rodney Melville Jr issued an arrest warrant for the 46-year-old Bad singer, after he failed to arrive at the Santa Maria, California, courthouse by 8:30am local time. The warrant and an additional threat of Jackson's $3 million bail being taken away were held up by the judge for an hour, as Jackson raced his way to court after visiting a Santa Ynez hospital with a back complaint. ABC News reports that Jackson and his entourage were driving at excessive speeds - in excess of 95 miles per hour - trying to get to the courthouse before the 9:35am deadline. They reportedly caught up to members of the California Highway Patrol and were forced to slow down a little, as they feared wasting time being pulled over for speeding. Once court proceedings got underway at approximately 10am - following a pajama-clad Jackson's 9.38am arrival - Melville immediately addressed the jury and apologized to them for being late, explaining how Jackson had a medical problem. It has yet to be announced whether the pop superstar faces arrest for today's developments. Jackson has pleaded not guilty to 10 felony charges of child molestation, administering an intoxicating agent and conspiracy involving allegations of child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion. He faces up to 21-years in jail if convicted.
Diaz "Rushed to Hospital" After Fall

Hollywood beauty Cameron Diaz was reportedly rushed to the hospital after falling off a chest of drawers in her Hollywood hills home. The Charlie's Angels star was reaching above her wardrobe to retrieve an object when she lost her balance and tumbled to the ground, reports Britain's The Sun newspaper. Her boyfriend Justin Timberlake ran to her aide and rushed her to hospital after finding her bleeding on their bedroom floor. The Sun reports Diaz was treated for a back strain and received 19 stitches to her head. A friend says, "Justin was frantic with worry. At first the paramedics thought she had broken her back. Although she was bruised, fortunately it was just badly strained. Justin insisted on staying by her side in the ambulance."
Tara Reid Sues Over Ad
American Pie star Tara Reid has sued the owners of a Las Vegas condominium project for using her name in an advertisement which appears to be a reference to her recent breast mishap. In November, the actress was horrified when the strap of her dress slipped off her left shoulder and exposed her breast to photographers as she walked the red carpet at Sean 'P Diddy' Combs' 35th birthday party in New York city. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims that Reid's reputation was damaged by an advertisement for Sky Las Vegas Condominiums published on February 1. It reads, "Dear Tara Reid. Come let it all hang out." The lawsuit alleges the ad implies that Reid, 29, intentionally let her dress strap slip and that Sky Las Vegas is capitalizing on her misfortune by misrepresenting her as "sexually lewd or immoral". Reid wants a judge to bar Sky Las Vegas from continuing to publish or distribute the ads.
Clooney's New Home Vandalized
George Clooney's latest Italian home has become the target of vandals and hooligans opposed to the movie star's plans to take control of picturesque Lake Como. Activists have broken windows and scrawled on walls at his Villa Margherita home in the northern Italian town of Laglio, after learning of Clooney's plans to buy a public beach on the shores of the famous lake and make it his own. According to show business magazine In Touch, Clooney recently bought the home as he begins developing the area around his first Lake Como mansion. And locals are annoyed with his plans to take over properties and beaches and turn it into his own private spread. Local Laglio councilor Roberto Pozzi, who wasn't one of the vandals, says, "Our group will oppose any concession or occupation of public spaces. It is one of the few openings to the water, and it's used by residents."
Clinton Given the OK After Complex Surgery

Former Us President Bill Clinton had his chest cavity opened for the second time in six months yesterday, when he underwent surgery in New York. Clinton, who underwent heart surgery last year, is being treated for compression of his lower lung. He has been given a good prognosis by doctors at the Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia University Medical Center even though the four-hour operation was not as straightforward as they had hoped it would be. Surgeons drained liquid that had built up in the 58-year-old's right lung, but struggled to remove a membrane to allow the lung to return to normal. Doctors had to pull open the chest and separate muscle and ribs after microscopic surgery proved too complex. Dr. Joshua Sonett, who was among the surgeons treating Clinton, said in a press conference, "He's at low risk for re-occurrence and we have no other expectation of any other changes in either lung." Clinton is expected to be kept in the hospital until next week and then he'll face another month of recuperation at home.
Lopez Attacked by Protestors at Her Restaurant

Animal activists made diners at Jennifer Lopez's Pasadena, California, restaurant a little uneasy today as they showed them images of animals skinned alive over lunch. People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (ETA) followers took their fur protests against Lopez to a new level by protesting outside Madre's. They also paraded large posters of Lopez with the words "Fur Hag" attached and placards featuring images of orphaned animals and the caption "J.Lo: These Babies Miss Their Mother - Is She on Your Back?" as diners tried to eat lunch. The activism was part of an ongoing campaign to shame Lopez for "promoting and profiting from the bloody fur industry". Activists with body-screen TVs also used the Madre's protest to air the west coast debut of the first-ever video footage of fur farms in China, shot during a year-long undercover investigation. The protest comes on the heels of the February debut of Lopez's fur-laden Sweetface fashion collection, which has been panned by critics and animal rights activists alike. A PETA spokesman says, "Lopez continues to pimp for the fur industry despite the fact that PETA has contacted her no less than a dozen times, pleading with her to stop supporting the horrific abuse of animals killed for their fur." PETA have just launched an anti-J.Lo website JLodown.Com, which urges the star to stop wearing fur.
Dawson Plans To Fight Charges Against Her
Men In Black II star Rosario Dawson is planning to fight disorderly conduct and obstruction charges against her. The actress was arrested last year for breaking a little-known New York state rule, which forbids protestors from covering their faces, while filming a scene for a new film in the midst of a real-life rally at the Republican National Convention. The 25-year-old star was wearing two handkerchiefs on her face with only her eyes showing and reportedly refused when ordered by police to move on. When This Revolution director Stephen Marshall attempted to show cops he had a city film permit, he and Dawson were arrested. Dawson, who denies police claims that she refused to move on, has moved to dismiss the charges against her. This request was denied in a Manhattan court Wednesday. The actress and director Marshall will stand trial next week.
Cruz Relies on Almodovar

Spanish movie star Penelope Cruz has placed her movie career in the hands of mentor Pedro Almodovar by agreeing to appear in his next three films. The Vanilla Sky star has worked with her fellow countryman twice before, on the low-profile but critically acclaimed Live Flesh and All About My Mother - and is so confident he'll have a positive effect on her career she doesn't care what the movies are. The first of their new collaborations is Volver, which is currently in pre-production and due to hit the big screen next year . Cruz says, "I'm going to do his next two or three movies. He is writing them so fast. He has a comedy and a drama, and I'm like, 'Yes, yes, yes, ' to all of it. I'm in his hands now, until September."
Bergin Sent to Jail
Former Baywatch star Michael Bergin has been sent to jail for 30 days after being found guilty of a felony drink driving charge. The actor and former Calvin Klein model left professional rollerblader Jenny Armstrong with broken bones after he drove into her at a busy West Hollywood cross-section on the fifth anniversary of his famous ex-girlfriend Carolyn Bessette's death. Bergin pleaded not guilty to drink driving felony charges after the accident but a Los Angeles judge has sentenced him to jail after telling him yesterday "You could have killed somebody". Outside court, a tearful Bergin told reporters, "It's an unfortunate situation and I'm glad part of it's over."
