Holmes and Klein Split

Hollywood couple Katie Holmes and Chris Klein have split, 14 months after announcing their engagement. No details of the split have been announced, but publicists for the actress insist the couple will remain the best of friends. A spokeswoman for Holmes tells America's Us Weekly magazine, "They want to stay friends and will continue that part of their relationship." The couple have been together since 2001. They were engaged in December 2003. Holmes will next be seen onscreen in summer blockbuster Batman Begins, while Klein was most recently in The United States Of Leland.
Bernal Skipped Oscars in Banderas Performance Protest

Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal refused to attend Sunday's 77th Academy Awards - because Antonio Banderas replaced singer Jorge Drexler to perform at the ceremony. The Motorcycle Diaries star was horrified when he learned that Uruguay's Drexler wouldn't be able to perform his own "Al Otro Lado Del Rio" on the show "for commercial reasons" and was replaced by Banderas and Carlos Santana. But Bernal was thrilled when Drexler scooped an Oscar for the song and made a point of singing some of the song instead of making a speech. He says, "At the time his song is being honored, all a sudden, that's the moment he does not exist? It was impossible for me to be there as part of the film. I didn't want to pretend the song was not part of it; that would have been like an act of murder in the family. And secondly, the film and the song are about respecting people's identity."
Ellen Cancels Appearance To Undergo Biopsy

Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres canceled an appearance at a cancer charity gala in Los Angles on Tuesday because she had to undergo a biopsy. The talk show queen was booked to host the 2005 Courage Award ceremony to honor Tour de France champion and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong - but pulled out because she is undergoing surgery later this week to have some polyps removed from her cervix. A friend tells Pagesix.Com, "Ellen could not host the cancer benefit because she had a biopsy. This is not an uncommon problem women have. Every woman should get checked (by a gynecologist) regularly."
Gibson: "Stalker Needs Help"
Mel Gibson spent his day in court yesterday suggesting his 34-year-old alleged stalker seek psychiatric help - and the homeless man's parents agree with the movie mogul. The actor/director went head-to-head with Zack Sinclair in his ongoing battle to keep the Idaho man away from himself and his family. Arriving at the Van Nuys, California, courthouse surrounded by security, Gibson took the stand, where he was quizzed by Sinclair, who is representing himself in the trial. Gibson told the court, "I think he needs some help," while answering his accused's questions. Outside the courthouse, Sinclair's mother, Connie Sinclair-Swope, agreed with Gibson. She said, "We all hope and pray for his recovery and that he gets some professional help." Jurors also heard extracts from letters Sinclair had written to Gibson before showing up at his family's Malibu, California, compound insisting the movie-maker pray with him. In one letter, Sinclair insisted he was sent to track down Gibson by God, claiming, "God could have chosen someone else to send to you but he chose me." The trial continues.
Aniston Denies Lesbian Reports
Jennifer Aniston is angrily denying internet reports she split up with husband Brad Pitt after falling for another woman. The former Friends star has instructed high-powered Hollywood publicist Kevin Huvane to kill the rumors she has a secret lesbian lover in New York. Huvane says, "Of all the preposterous things that have been written about Jennifer, this one takes the cake. Jennifer Aniston is not a lesbian." The scandalous claims were posted on anonymous website Productshopnyc.Com - they state Aniston has fallen in love with a female relative of an unnamed male movie star.
Jackson Accuses Bashir of Betrayal
Michael Jackson has accused British journalist Martin Bashir of betraying their friendship by taking to the stand as a prosecution witness - despite the fact Bashir faces possible prosecution after refusing to answer questions. Bashir, 42, interviewed Jackson at his California Neverland Ranch in January 2003 for the controversial documentary Living With Michael Jackson, which raised questions about the superstar's relationship with young boys. The footage led to Jackson's November arrest on 10 felony charges of child molestation, administering an intoxicating agent, and conspiracy involving allegations of child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion. But on the second day of Jackson's trial on Tuesday, Bashir declined to respond to the majority of the questions, including if he asked Jackson to sign documents without lawyers present, how many hours of footage were cut from the documentary, whether he was employed as a correspondent at the trial and if he saw any unedited footage from the film. But Jackson's spokeswoman Raymone K Bain fumes, "He was very angry, because here was somebody he had embraced as a friend. He felt there was some betrayal there."
Hatcher Lands Massive Pay Rise
Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has signed up to appear in a second season of the hit show, and she will pocket a staggering $285,000 per episode. The 40-year-old beauty's pay raise represents almost a tenfold increase on her first series pay - and co-stars Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and Nicolette Sheridan have also been rewarded for the program's success. A show insider says of the Golden Globe-winner, "She has undoubtedly turned out to be the star of the show. Men find her sexy and women want to be like her." Hatcher was paid $38,000 per episode for the first season, while her lesser female co-stars earned only $1,800 per episode. They have all been rewarded with a Mini car.
Lohan Considers Starring in Dad's Reality Show

Actress and singer Lindsay Lohan has refused to rule out starring in a reality TV show about her parent's divorce - even though she's estranged from her father Michael. Despite media reports suggesting the Mean Girls beauty had snubbed Michael's idea, she would love the show to air on American TV so the public can understand the problems between her parents, Michael and Dina. The 18-year-old says, "As sick as it sounds, a reality show might help, actually. At least then people could get the truth." Michael recently said he would "definitely consider" dropping his fight for a family reality show if his wife - who filed for divorce in January - would drop her restraining order against him and let him speak directly to their famous daughter.

The teen star's representative reveals the actress - who spent time in rehab late last year - has been visiting the anorexia unit at the UCLA medical center in Los Angeles, as part of her recovery from the eating disorder. Her representative tells American website Pagesix.Com, "She goes to outpatient care in New York and Los Angeles. There is no acute problem right now."
