Denise Richards Files for Divorce

Former Bond girl Denise Richards has shocked Hollywood by filing for divorce from her husband Charlie Sheen, while pregnant with the couple's second child. Citing irreconcilable differences for the split, the actress has retained the services of powerhouse divorce attorney Laura Wasser as she prepares for a court battle over custody of her daughter Sam and unborn baby. US news show Celebrity Justice reports Richards is seeking full custody of the children, and has asked Sheen be granted visitation rights. The couple's daughter is a year old, and Richards is six months pregnant with their second child. In the legal papers, filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Richards also demands "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects," as well as "earnings and accumulations of Petitioner from and after the date of separation". The divorce comes completely out of the blue for the couple, who seemed to be perfectly happy when they were recently interviewed about their new baby news. Richards even joined her husband on his hit TV show Two and a Half Men late last year. And in October, Sheen confessed he had had tattoos lasered off his chest to prove once and for all he had turned his back on his hedonistic past. He said, "I had some tattoos lasered off my chest. They don't represent the lifestyle I thought I would always have." And just last month, Sheen made no mention of any marriage trouble when he told American magazine Us Weekly that he couldn't wait to become a dad again, and confessed he and Richards were hoping their second child would be another girl. The couple were married in June 2002 after meeting on the set of movie Good Advice in 2000 and then fell in love when Richards became a regular guest on Sheen's sitcom Spin City. Sheen announced the couple's engagement at 2002's Golden Globe Awards after proposing to the actress in Hawaii.

Lohan: "I've Tried Pot"

Teenage movie star Lindsay Lohan has confessed she once smoked marijuana, despite insisting last year she was anti-drugs. The 18-year-old Mean Girls star has opened up to American style magazine W, revealing she has tried pot - but didn't like it. She says, "I'm not going to deny the fact that I've tried pot. I hated it." Lohan insists she'd never try anything harder than pot because she's seen how cocaine has messed up members of her own family. She adds, "I've never tried cocaine... I've seen my father. I've seen how it messes with families, and, you know, it f**ks your life up." The actress-singer is next set to be seen this summer in Herbie: Fully Loaded.

Jackson Considers Testifying In His Own Defense

Michael Jackson is considering taking to the stand to deny allegations he molested a teenage cancer victim - despite the fact he's not on the defense witness list. The Thriller star's attorney Thomas Mesereau strongly hinted in his opening statement on Tuesday that Jackson is so furious about the 10 felony charges against him, he's prepared to invite the prosecution to cross-examine him in court. Mesereau said, "Michael will tell you one time he got a very bad feeling at Neverland." He added, "Mr. Jackson will freely admit that he does read girlie magazines from time to time." And the troubled singer's spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain has confirmed Mesereau's statements were made to suggest to jurors that the 46-year-old may testify. She says, "They have not made a decision yet. But clearly they have spoken about it." Jackson is charged in a 10-count indictment with molesting a 13-year-old boy and conspiring to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion. He has pleaded not guilty.

Gibson Jury Selection Stalled by 'The Passion' Haters

Jury selection in Mel Gibson's upcoming stalking trial is being hampered by movie fans who are too passionately opposed to the Aussie's controversial The Passion Of The Christ film. During the pre-trial selection in Los Angeles on Tuesday, several potential jurors admitted it would be impossible for them to separate their feelings about the film when hearing the movie star's potential stalker Zack Sinclair defend himself. One Jewish candidate told the judge she was offended by the film: "There's no way I can separate my views about Mel Gibson and The Passion from this trial." Another candidate called the film irresponsible, while a third potential juror admitted feeling sorry for the accused because he generally dislikes movie stars. Gibson is expected to face his alleged stalker, who is representing himself in court, today.

Jailed Martha Lands Three Emmy Nominations

Jailbird Martha Stewart will have even more reasons to celebrate when she's released from federal prison this weekend - her former TV show has been given three Daytime Emmy nominations. The lifestyle queen, who was jailed for five months last year for stocks fraud, is expected to taste freedom this Sunday when she walks out of Alderson Prison in West Virginia. And there will be double celebrations at her home in upstate New York - thanks to the Emmy nods she picked up yesterday morning for her scrapped show Martha Stewart Living. Daytime soap opera All My Children leads the list of nominees with a whopping 18 nods, while long-running kids show Sesame Street tied with soaps General Hospital and Guiding Light for 13 nominations. Meanwhile, it was announced veteran entertainer-turned-hotel tycoon Merv Griffin will be honored with the Daytime Emmy's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 32nd annual ceremony, which will be held in New York in May.

Cosby Apologizes for Sexual Misconduct Case

Comedian Bill Cosby has apologized to the Canadian woman who accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting her at his Philadelphia home last year. Andrea Constand shocked Cosby fans earlier this month by alleging the beloved funnyman took her back to his Philadelphia home after meeting her in a restaurant, where he drugged her, touched her breast and placed her hand on his genitals. Pennsylvania authorities did not prosecute Cosby because they found "insufficient credible and admissible evidence" to support the woman's claims, Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor explained in a statement. But despite protesting his innocence throughout the five-week investigation, Cosby has admitted his actions were inappropriate and said sorry to his wife Camille for the distress the allegations caused her. He tells American newspaper National Enquirer, "Looking back on it, I realize that words and actions can be misinterpreted by another person, and unless you're a supreme being, you can't predict what another individual will do. But that's all behind me now, and I'm looking only toward a bright future. I'm not saying that what I did was wrong, but I apologize to my loving wife, who has stood by my side for all these years, for any pain I have caused her. These allegations have caused my family great emotional stress."

Goldberg's Republican Swipe

Funnywoman Whoopi Goldberg has hit back at Republicans gloating about President George W Bush's election victory - by sending them a box of chocolates accompanied by a cutting letter. Right-wing group Citizens United has been renting billboards all over Hollywood to poke fun at high-profile celebrities who opposed Bush's re-election campaign. A poster bearing images of Goldberg, Michael Moore, Barbra Streisand, as well as other ardent Democrat celebrities, features the jibe, "Four more years. Thank you, Hollywood!" Goldberg responded by sending the confectionary with a note to Citizen United's Washington headquarters which reads, "Gentlemen: I didn't realize how little faith you had in your candidate. To give so much power to folks like myself is amazing. I thought you all said that the President won because of what he stood for, and now I come to find out that the only reason he got elected was because of people like me. This doesn't say much for your candidate. Enjoy the chocolate." When staff members confirmed the chocolates had definitely come from Goldberg they immediately ate them with glee.

Chaka Khan's Son Charged with Murder

Chaka Khan's son pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 17-year-old boy on Tuesday, before being released on $2 million bail. The disco legend's 25-year-old son Damien Patrick Holland surrendered himself to Los Angeles police Monday after he learned prosecutors had charged him with the shooting of teen Christopher Baily on 24 September. Prosecutors claim Holland killed Baily during an argument over a gun at a Los Angeles party. Holland was taken into custody briefly last year but released when police claimed they didn't have enough evidence to press charges. After prosecutors spoke to several witnesses of the murder, a fresh warrant was issued for his arrest.

Travolta's Ever Changing Hair

Mystery surrounds John Travolta's hairline after the Pulp Fiction star appeared to have ditched his current crewcut look for a full head of hair at the Oscars. The actor's publicists are refusing to comment about the actor's Oscar hairdo, which appeared drastically different to the short-cropped look Travolta has been sporting during US promotional work for his new movie Be Cool. The actor's hair looked short when he appeared on David Letterman's The Late Show in America on Thursday and again on yesterday morning's Ellen DeGeneres Show, but, in between, the movie star presented at the Academy Awards on Sunday, sporting flowing locks.

'Office' Fan Foiled Gervais Fraudsters

Ricky Gervais' fortune was rescued by a fan of his TV hit The Office - who called police when he suspected five people planned to buy gold bars with $372,000 stolen from British funnyman's bank account. Wood Green Crown Court, London, heard how bullion dealer Anthony Baird called police after someone claiming to be the Golden Globe-winner placed a large order with his company. Prosecutor John Dodd says bank clerk Sharonjeet Snober transferred Gervais money to bullion firm Baird And Company - but the company's owner, Baird ensured officers were waiting when two couriers attempted to collect the gold. But the five defendants - Kenneth Speight, Sharonjeet Snobber, Mushtaq Javed, Craig Reeves and Harry Peach - deny three counts of conspiracy to defraud between February and April 2004.
