Pitt Bans Western Journalists

Brad Pitt banned western journalists from a press conference he held in Japan last night to promote his new movie Ocean's Twelve - fearing they would quiz him on his split from Jennifer Aniston. A number of American reporters traveled out to Tokyo, hoping to glean information from Pitt about the end of the couple's four-and-a-half year marriage, but only Japanese journalists were allowed into the conference. And even the Japanese were banned from asking embarrassing questions. Frustrated US TV producer Antony Beilinsohn says, "Given the fact that he is going through a difficult time in his relationship, it's to be expected that the world's media is not allowed inside. Disappointed? Definitely. But to be expected? Certainly." Kurt Common, a DJ for Japanese radio - who was allowed inside - explained Pitt's decision, "Maybe because the foreign press sometimes is really direct and ask rude questions about personal things... while the Japanese press is very polite."

Eastwood Threatens Moore

Clint Eastwood has chillingly warned documentary-maker Michael Moore he'll face certain death if he ever points his camera at him. Picking up a Special Film-making Achievement prize for Million Dollar Baby at the National Board Of Review Awards dinner in New York on Tuesday, Eastwood urged the Fahrenheit 9/11 director to avoid making him the subject of a future project if he values his life. However, Eastwood - a staunch supporter of the Republicans - did admit he and Moore have a shared view of how American society should operate. He said, "Michael Moore and I actually have a lot in common - we both appreciate living in a country where there's free expression. But, Michael, if you ever show up at my front door with a camera - I'll kill you." And when Eastwood noticed the audience had erupted in laughter to his threat, he emphasized, "I mean it." However, Moore's representatives insist the comments were intended as a joke: "Michael laughed along with everyone else, and took Mr Eastwood's comments in the lighthearted spirit in which they were given."

Prince Harry Urged To Visit Auschwitz

Jewish leaders have demanded British royal Prince Harry visit the concentration camp at Auschwitz, Poland - following his controversial decision to wear a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party at the weekend. Critics were outraged by the heir's gaffe and want him to join a group visiting the site later this month, to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean of the American-based Simon Wiesenthal Center, says, "This was a shameful act displaying insensitivity for the victims, not just for those soldiers of his own country who gave their lives to defeat Nazism but to the victims of the Holocaust. We strongly urge Prince Harry to accompany the British delegation on January 27 to the Auschwitz death camp to commemorate 60 years since liberation. There he will see the results of the hated symbol he so foolishly and brazenly chose to wear."

Queen Latifah To Host Grammy Awards

Rapper-turned-actress Queen Latifah has been confirmed as the host of this year's Grammy Awards ceremony. The Taxi star is nominated for an award in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category and she will also perform a song from The Dana Owens Album at the prestigious American music industry event which takes place next month. Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy, says, "Queen Latifah is an extraordinary Renaissance artist with unparalleled style and substance, and her passion, talent and personality make her an excellent choice as host for our show." Latifah won a Best Rap Solo Performance Grammy Award for her single U.N.I.T.Y. in 1994.

Aniston Moves In with Hairdresser

Jennifer Aniston has left the Hollywood mansion she shared with Brad Pitt before their marriage break-up - and moved in with her hairdresser. The former Friends beauty - who confirmed her marriage was over last Friday - has reportedly formed such a strong friendship with stylist-to-the-stars Chris McMillan, he was the first person she turned to for advice and comfort. Aniston's confidante was responsible for her Friends character Rachel Green's hairstyles - which led to millions of imitation cuts around the world - and the actress' locks on her wedding day four-and-a-half years ago. A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "She went straight to Chris' house when she got back to LA. She couldn't face going back to the house she shared with Brad. She found the idea too upsetting. Chris has been a great shoulder to cry on for her over the years and he's there for her now. They first met in the set of Friends ten years ago and have been best pals ever since."

Jackson Denies Paternity Claims

Michael Jackson is denying the accusations of a Los Angeles woman who claims he is the father of her newborn twins. Sholeh Bocchelli has filed court papers claiming the troubled pop star is the biological father of her two sons, who were born late last year. Bocchelli also claims Jackson hasn't let her see the kids, conceived by in-vitro fertilization, since they were born. But Jackson has been quick to respond to the claims. In a statement issued by the star's aides yesterday, he insists, "There is no truth to this accusation."

Rita Marley Denies Reburial Plans

Bob Marley's widow Rita has denied she plans to exhume her husband's body in Jamaica and rebury it in Ethiopia. Rita was yesterday reported to be planning to rebury the reggae legend near the capital Addis Ababa, the Rastafarian movement's adopted home, as part of a month-long celebration of Marley's 60th birthday next month. She was quoted saying, "We are working on bringing his remains to Ethiopia. It is part of Bob's own mission. Bob's whole life is about Africa, it is not about Jamaica." But Rita insists her words were twisted. Desta Meghoo, a spokeswoman for the Marley Foundation, says, "She does express honestly and candidly the fact that Bob, as a Rasta man, loved Ethiopia and she would love to see the day where he is laid to rest in his father's land, and she has never been secretive about that. But we have never ever put out anything saying Bob is going to be exhumed, and returned home, and it is very painful to see something so wonderful is being twisted."

Angry Mom Downgraded Because of Julia

The happiest days of Julia Roberts' life turned into a nightmare for another new mum when the movie star stole her luxury suite at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai hospital. The unnamed mum had the misfortune of going into labor at the same time as Roberts and had to give up the exclusive recovery suite she had booked last June for the celebrity. The angry woman admits that at first she sympathized with both the Oscar-winner and hospital staff, but now she's hoping to warn other moms-to-be that they'll be forced to downgrade at the celebrity hospital if a star goes into labor. The new mum says, "She was getting all this ridiculous treatment - even though all the other babies need special care too." And she insists Roberts' attitude upset all the other mothers: "She acted like she was the center of the universe... She gave everyone hostile looks." Roberts gave birth to twins Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter on November 28.

Stone Escapes America for France

Director Oliver Stone is so distraught over the criticism targeted at his last two big screen projects, he's preparing to flee America for France. The JFK movie-maker sparked controversy by meeting Cuban dictator Fidel Castro for his 2003 documentary Comandante - forcing TV network HBO to axe it from their schedule. Stone's recent historical epic, Alexander, was also subjected to scathing reviews in the US for portraying Macedonian warrior Alexander The Great as a bisexual. And Stone can't understand why years of hard work have failed to produce a positive reaction, so is desperate to seek comfort in his mother's homeland, to escape the bad vibes that are crippling his confidence in America. He says, "Since the Castro movie I did, things have been tough. Everyone was against it. Then I put my heart into Alexander, which wasn't appreciated either. The right thing is for me to stay out of America for a while. I'm planning to spend a lot more time in France."

Otto Pregnant

Australian actress Miranda Otto is expecting her first child with actor husband Peter O'Brien. The couple, who married on New Year's Day 2003, are "thrilled", according to a spokesperson. Otto, 37, who starred as Eowyn in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, recently finished filming Steven Spielberg's War Of The Worlds, in which she plays Tom Cruise's pregnant wife.
