Nicky Hilton's Marriage Officially Over

Hotel heiress Nicky Hilton is a single girl once again, after officially ending her brief marriage to New York businessman Todd Andrew Meister. Yesterday, a judge in Las Vegas - where the pair wed just under three months ago - granted the newlyweds an annulment. A statement from the former couple's representatives reads, "Both parties have ended the marriage amicably, and they remain good friends." Hilton, 21, married Meister, 33, at the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel on August 15 in a surprise ceremony attended by her older sister Paris Hilton and actress Bijou Phillips. It's not clear when the pair filed the annulment paperwork in Clark County Family Court. A court spokesman says a case under the name of Todd Meister was filed on Monday but the judge sealed it.

Reynolds' Ex Sues

Burt Reynolds' ex-girlfriend has filed a palimony suit against the movie veteran just a day after he sued her for alleged extortion. Former barmaid Pamela Seals claims in a new lawsuit, filed yesterday, that the actor requested she "quit her job and move from Florida to California" to live with Reynolds and act as his "companion and homemaker." In the legal papers obtained by American court show Celebrity Justice, Seals also claims Reynolds promised he would "support and take care of her and her mother in the manner in which they were accustomed to...for the rest of their lives." She also claims Reynolds repeatedly abused her by "yelling at her, beating and strangling her". The suit seeks half of all assets accumulated during the relationship, 50 per cent interest in Reynolds' home in Florida and punitive damages. Reynolds obviously saw the suit coming - he filed an extortion suit against Seals on Monday, claiming she was threatening to wrongfully accuse him of abuse if he didn't agree to pay her a send-off fee after their romance went sour.

'Alfie' Flop Blamed on Election

Jude Law's latest film Alfie's poor results at the American box office have been blamed on last week's presidential election. The remake of the 1966 Michael Caine comedy only took $6.5 million during its opening weekend, and landed at number five in the US box office charts. Wayne Llewellyn, the president of distribution at Paramount, blamed the Republican triumph of George W. Bush's re-election may clash with the character's womanizing behavior. Llewellyn says, "It could be the mood of the country right now. It seems to be the result of the election. Maybe they didn't want to see a guy that slept around."

Dawson Gives Colin a Black Eye

Rosario Dawson gave her Alexander co-star Colin Farrell a black eye when a bedroom fight went too far. As temptress Roxane, Dawson had to punch and slap Farrell's Alexander The Great when he attempted to force her to have sex with him. And as the day went on, the actress's slaps got harder and harder. She explains, "I gave him a black eye. He was being really cocky about it. He was like, 'Go ahead, smack me as hard as you want, ' and I was like, 'OK.' After about 72 smacks there was this one that I just really connected with him really hard and I could feel it, and he just looked at me and he was like, 'That's the one that's going to give me a purple one later, ' and it did." Dawson is thrilled with the film, especially the scenes in which she appears scantily clad and naked. She adds, "I'll be able to look back on that when I'm 80 and I'll be like, 'I was hot when I was 24.'"

Kidman Considers Coco Chanel Role

Australian star Nicole Kidman believes she would be a good choice to play Coco Chanel in a biopic of the legendary designer's life, because she's always loved Chanel No 5 perfume. The Oscar-winner's multi-million dollar advertisement for the fragrance, which was filmed by her Moulin Rouge director friend Baz Luhrmann, debuted on TV last month. Luhrmann is now considering making a movie of the French fashion guru's life. Kidman says, "I think I'd be too tall, but hey, why not. After all, Chanel No 5 was the first perfume I used and I've been faithful to it since I was 14."

Pitt Studies AIDS in Ethiopia

Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt has traveled to Ethiopia to learn more about AIDS, as part of a fund-raising campaign to combat the disease in Africa. The four-day trip, which began on Friday and ended late on Monday night, was organized by Data, a lobby group co-founded by U2 rocker Bono, which campaigns on Third World trade, debt and HIV/AIDS. Data spokesman Jamie Drummond says, "It was a listening and learning visit." While in Ethiopia, Pitt visited local projects fighting the spread of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The 40-year-old Ocean's Eleven star also met with eight top Ethiopian singers who have collaborated on songs to educate people about HIV and to raise money for AIDS programs. Singer Tsedenia Gebremarkos says, "He was very humble and really interested in the situation here. We hope his popularity can raise awareness in the same way we are trying to. We need the support of people like him."

Del Toro Paid $5 Million for Defunct Film

Oscar-winning actor Benicio Del Toro was reportedly paid $5 million to star in now-defunct film Tru Blu. Last month Universal Studios cancelled the Del Toro and Denzel Washington-starring biopic of infamous 1970s drug dealer Frank Lucas. Only weeks before it was cancelled, Training Day movie maker Antoine Fuqua was fired as director and is now considering filing a law suit against the studios. According to American gossip columnist Ted Casablanca, Del Toro had already accepted the millions to play detective Richie Roberts, when the movie was unexpectedly pulled from pre-production. A source says, "Benicio got paid 5 million bucks to get fired from Tru Blu and he's been putting on the pounds ever since. What's ironic, is that the producers were paying for him to train and get in shape because he was really at his heaviest." Despite his increasing waistline, Del Toro's alleged new love, actress Sara Foster is happy with the extra weight. The source adds, "He'd grab junk food whenever he could. And now it's worse than ever. But Sara doesn't seem to mind."

Swank's Boxing Nightmare

Hilary Swank is relieved to have finished filming her latest movie Million Dollar Baby, because it was "the most physically challenging role" of her life. The actress and face of Calvin Klein underwear played a professional boxer in the film, which required extensive fitness training. She says, "The past five months of my life have been consumed with boxing. I had to gain seven kilograms of muscle, which meant boxing for two-and-a-half hours a day, lifting weights one-and-a-half hours a day and also eating 210 grams of protein a day. It was definitely the most physically challenging thing I have ever done."

Clooney's Krisy Kreme Diet

Hollywood star George Clooney is emulating animated fatty Homer Simpson in a bid to bulk up for a forthcoming film role. The Intolerable Cruelty actor plays an overweight soldier in cold war thriller Syriana and has adopted a diet including Simpson's favorite high-calorie Krispy Kreme donuts to help him gain weight. A source says, "He'll eat anything, but his favorite is Krispy Kreme doughnuts. He buys boxes at a time and even had consignments sent to his place in Italy. Otherwise it's pizzas and burgers."

Roseanne Quits Sheen Sitcom

Comedienne Roseanne has cancelled her appearance on Charlie Sheen's sitcom Two And A Half Men, because the script mocked her life. America's TV Guide reports the 52-year-old actress was set to play the sister of Sheen's maid, but changed her mind at the last minute. Her spokesperson says, "The script poked too much fun at her. She felt it spoofed her life during the Tom Arnold period." Former The Practice star Camryn Manheim has gone on to replace her.
