Britney: I Will Be a Federline

Britney Spears wants to change her name to Federline, but fears the move will upset her fans. The "Toxic" singer - whose September 18 marriage to dancer Kevin Federline was made official last week - is keen to show her devotion to her new husband by taking his surname, and is determined to defy the objections of devotees. She told the German magazine Bunte, "I probably will, Britney Federline, I like that. Society probably won't allow me but I would like to change it."

Gibson's Alleged Stalker Faces Three Years Behind Bars

Mel Gibson's alleged stalker Zack Sinclair faces three years in jail if he's convicted of pestering the actor and his family at the end of the month. Sinclair was jailed on Tuesday after failing to observe a restraining order filed against him by a worried Gibson, and he's being held on $500,000 bail. He's due back in court on October 29, when a date for his preliminary hearing will be set. The 34-year-old first upset Gibson when he approached the movie star at his Malibu, California, home and outside the church the actor and his family frequent. In asking for the restraining order, Gibson also accused Sinclair of writing sinister letters about his religious epic The Passion Of The Christ. Last week, a California judge extended the restraining order, keeping Sinclair away from Gibson, to three years, but authorities claim the very next day Sinclair trespassed on Gibson's family home in Malibu and was arrested on the felony stalking charge.

MTV Vows To Continue Airing Eminem Video

Michael Jackson is furious after learning bosses at MTV plan to continue airing Eminem's controversial video for his single "Just Lose It." The 46-year-old Bad singer urged all TV networks to ban the clip, which features Eminem dressed as Jackson, jumping around on a bed with young children. His also nose then falls off and his hair bursts into flames - which spoofs the Thriller star's accident on the set of a Pepsi commercial in 1984. And while Black Entertainment Television (BET) has banned the video, MTV has decided to allow its broadcast, angering Jackson. His spokesperson Raymone Bain tells website Eurweb, "Eminem released a statement, he and Interscope, saying they stand by the video and they're disappointed that Bet pulled it. And MTV came out saying they were going to continue to air it on MTV, MTV2 and MTV Europe." Jackson adds, "I think it's the wrong thing to do. It should be pulled, it shouldn't be played. It's incorrect." Bain continues, "VH1 sent out a release this evening saying they were meeting on whether or not they're going to air it. So for them to release something like that must mean they're more than likely to pull it. I can't see them releasing a statement saying they're in the process of meeting on it."

Nicholson Snubs Baldwin

Acclaimed actor Jack Nicholson snubbed fellow Hollywood A-lister Alec Baldwin when the Pearl Harbor star rushed to meet the legend. The Anger Management star refused to shake Baldwin's hand when he approached his table at an exclusive New York restaurant. An onlooker says, "After standing there for five minutes, Alec put his hand out in front of Jack to shake hands and Jack looked up at him, put his hands up and said, 'Sorry. Can't shake. Got grease all over my hands', and went back to talking to his friend. It was really embarrassing."

Minnelli's Ex Makes His Deposition

Liza Minnelli's estranged husband David Gest sneaked into a New York attorney's office on Tuesday to give a deposition in the assault lawsuit against the Cabaret star. Producer Gest, who claims Minnelli beat him in drunken rages, is suing his ex for $10 million. Gest claims the attacks left him with painful migraine headaches, but Minnelli's attorneys are out to prove the producer has pre-existing medical conditions he's trying to blame on their client. Last month, Minnelli's former chauffeur M'Hammed Soumayah filed a lawsuit claiming Minnelli beat him too. Minnelli's lawyers feel confident they can prove that Gest is collaborating with the driver. Minnelli is counter-suing Gest, claiming he stole money from her while he was her manager. The couple also have a pending divorce case.

Williams' Fond Farewell to Pal Reeve

Robin Williams has gathered with best pal Christopher Reeve's family for a personal ceremony at the late Superman's New York state home. Williams joined Reeve's widow Dana, daughter Alexandra and his sons Will and Matthew for an emotional farewell in Bedford, and the funnyman admits it was the perfect send off. He recalls, "It was one of the most beautiful New England days and leaves were turning and the wind's blowing and you're going, 'It feels like he's here, and that's a great thing.' There was a spirit of sadness but there's also a spirit of great joy all of a sudden. After the service, all of a sudden kids started to play football - it's what happens. Life goes on but that's what he'd want too." Williams claims the private family service helped him recover from the shock of hearing his pal and former school roommate had died on Sunday. He adds, "Chris dying was like I didn't think it could happen. Like him, I thought that he was going to walk because about a year ago he was moving his fingers."

Carrey Becomes an American Citizen

Canadian comedian Jim Carrey has fulfilled a longtime ambition to become an American citizen. Following in the footsteps of fellow Canadian Pamela Anderson and Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, the star will make the most of his new status to vote in the upcoming presidential elections - but he's insisting on holding on to his Canadian citizenship. He says, "I have no intention of giving up my Canadian heritage, and all those who loved and supported me. My upbringing in Canada made me the person I am. I will always be proud to be a Canadian." While Carrey became a US citizen last week, it is not known if he made the October 4 deadline to register to vote in the November 2 showdown between President George W Bush and Senator John Kerry.

Ziyi Ran Away From Dance School

Chinese star Zhang Ziyi ran away from the dance school she attended as child and only returned when the police picked her up. The shy Hero actress found the other pre-teen pupils' habit of backstabbing too hard to live with. Wishing to avoid a confrontation, she simply upped and left. The 25-year-old recalls, "I didn't like the other girls - the way they would band together and give you a knife in the back. They loved to run to the teachers and say bad things about each other. I didn't want to fight with them, so I just ran. The teacher called the police because I disappeared for a while. I think I cried every day when I was there. If I'd had more courage I would have run away again."

Gere Interview Horrifies Reeve Fans

Richard Gere shocked American viewers of morning TV show Live With Regis And Kelly by joking about a horse-riding accident, only days after Christopher Reeve's death. The Chicago actor recorded an interview about his recent horse-riding injury with hosts Kelly Ripa and Regis Philbin last week, which was aired on Tuesday. When asked if he broke his hand by falling off a horse, Gere joked, "Men are not thrown off horses." Viewers were horrified to what appeared to be Gere's "insensitivity" to Reeve, who was paralyzed from the neck down after he was thrown from his horse in Virginia in 1995. Superman star Reeve died on Sunday after suffering cardiac arrest.

Diana Ross Announces Concert Tour

Soul veteran Diana Ross has made good on her promise to embark on a comeback, by announcing an 11-date concert tour of America. The star has spent recent years away from the limelight, returning to the news in December 2002 on drunk driving charges, which later led to a conviction and a two-day jail stint in February. And now Ross has announced she plans to head out on the Forever tour, beginning on November 5 with two nights in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The road show will also include visits to Los Angeles; Phoenix, Arizona; Sacramento, California; Denver, Colorado; Detroit, Michigan; and Chicago, Illinois. The tour will wrap on November 21 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
