Douglas Kept Quiet About Stalker for Two Years

Hollywood legend Michael Douglas protected his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones from violent threats made by couple's alleged stalker Dawnette Knight, a Los Angeles court heard Wednesday. The Wall Street actor learnt his father Kirk Douglas and offices linked to the glamorous couple had received letters and phone calls referring to the Chicago beauty in March 2002 and only told his stunning spouse in March this year. Knight, 32, was arrested last month and faces one felony charge of stalking and 24 felony charges of making criminal threats. Child psychology student Knight and her fiance Ronald Calvin have apologised for the distress caused and Knight's lawyers insists his client is "normal" and only had a "girlish crush" on Douglas. At the hearing yesterday, Zeta-Jones said, "I am here to testify against the alleged defendant who has been stalking me and my family for the last tw0 years. I became aware of the threats around the second week of March this year. I was in Bermuda at the time. My husband brought me into the living room, asked me to sit down and said he needed to speak to me about something pretty serious. He sat me down and said, 'I need to tell you that you have been for some time receiving serious threats to your life.'" As Zeta-Jones recalled the moment she learnt of Knight's alleged threats, she tried desperately to fight back the tears at the stand. She continued, "I was stunned, shocked. I was trembling. He said they were of the nature and death threats and a lot had been going to my father-in-law Kirk Douglas. I took it very seriously." Douglas said the first threat was a phone call to the Ariel Sands hotel in Bermuda, near his family home on the island. He said, "I asked the receptionist what the person on the phone had said. I was told she was going to kill Catherine. I was shocked, scared and stunned." The hearing continues.

They will now marry in an extravagant ceremony in the garden of their new Malibu mansion. A source says, "Britney and Kevin have decided that getting married quickly is the best thing to do. Affleck Single Again

Hollywood hunk Ben Affleck is a single man again - he's split with his sales executive girlfriend Enza Sambataro after two months together. The Daredevil star met the stunning brunette at a Boston Red Sox baseball game in late May and embarked on his first relationship since splitting from ex-fiancee Jennifer Lopez in January. After the American media noticed Sambataro had not been spotted with the actor while he is in Boston for the Democratic National Convention, Affleck confirmed his brief coupling had ended. Affleck says, "It's difficult. I meet people, but I feel like I'm this walking nightmare. You get photographed with me once at a baseball game, and The Enquirer will find out every dirty little thing that ever happened in your family's history." Ironically Affleck blamed "excessive media attention" on the demise of his relationship with Sambataro - the same reason he and Lopez cancelled their planned September 2003 nuptials. Affleck continues, "It's too much. Who wants that? If I saw me, I would turn the other way. I'm trying to diminish it so that someone might actually be interested in dating me." In recent weeks Affleck has been romantically linked to his Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner.

Kangaroo Jack star Anthony Anderson has been arrested and charged with aggravated rape while shooting a movie. The 33-year-old actor was accused by an unidentified woman of luring her into a trailer on the Memphis, Tennessee, set of his latest film, Hustle And Flow, and sexually assaulting her with the film's assistant director, Wayne Witherspoon. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Shular says a passer-by heard screams coming from the trailer and opened the door. Shular says, "She ran out nude." Both suspects were released yesterday evening after posting a $20,000 bond each. Allan Mayer, spokesman for married father-of-two Anderson, says, "(Anthony) absolutely denies the heinous charges. Anthony is a happily married family man who has never been accused of - no less involved in - anything remotely like this, and we are confident that when all the facts come out, he will be completely exonerated." Partway through the interview, a smiling Sawyer said, "Now if I'm gonna talk to you, you're gonna have to hold flowers here in front of the John Kerry (T-shirt). We can't just have John Kerry the whole time. Who do we bring in for equal time?" A stunned but laughing Portman shot back, "Come on, you've got ( Bill O'Reilly's) The O'Reilly Factor. That's on television; that evens it out!" She also took the opportunity to voice her support for the Democratic contender, adding, "I love John Kerry!
