Stars Praise 'Fahrenheit 9/11'

Hollywood turned out in force to support Michael Moore at a special screening of his controversial new documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 on Tuesday. Actors Martin Sheen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen DeGeneres, David Duchovny, Sharon Stone, Meg Ryan, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Jodie Foster, Drew Barrymore, Chris Rock, Jack Black, Matthew Perry, Diane Lane, Marisa Tomei and Viggo Mortensen all attended the showing at the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences Theater in Los Angeles. Moore's film criticizes American president George W Bush's behavior following the September 11th terror attacks in Washington D.C. and New York and exposes links between Bush's family and Al-qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden's relatives. At the screening of the Palme D'Or winning movie, Barrymore enthused, "I never come to premieres, but I'm so here on this one. I'm looking forward to this more than anything in the world." After a seeing a clip from the film featuring Britney Spears pledging her trust for Dubya, Titanic heart-throb DiCaprio burst into laughter. Eyes Wide Shut star Leelee Sobieski admits she cried during the documentary and said it "should be required for everyone in America to see as part of their education in high schools".

Judge Rules for Eminem in Magazine Dispute

Hip-hop magazine The Source has been ordered to pay Eminem's legal fees for violating a federal court order not to publish full versions of the rapper's racially- charged lyrics. The Source published the lyrics of an Eminem song on its website in January, violating a temporary restraining order issued by US District Judge Gerard Lynch in December. In a pair of rulings made public on Wednesday in the copyright dispute between the magazine and the rapper - real name Marshall Mathers - Lynch ordered The Source to pay legal fees to Shady Records Inc, Eminem's label. The judge compared Eminem to Benny Goodman and Elvis Presley who also found success in musical genres created by black artists. But he said the First Amendment protects the rapper's "musical commentaries on life". The judge wrote, "It is for fans of hip-hop, and not for this court, to decide what if anything this episode means for their opinions of Mathers as a man and as an artist." In December, the judge allowed the magazine to publish limited excerpts from the lyrics and to distribute CDs containing small clips of the songs. The dispute concerns two recordings made by Eminem as a teenager. They include lyrics such as, "Black girls are dumb, and white girls are good chicks." The Source's co-owners, David Mays and Raymond Scott, have publicized the records, accusing Eminem of racism. The magazine also published a poster of Scott holding Eminem's severed head. Eminem, now 31, has said the recording was "foolishness" that he made as a teenager out of anger and frustration after breaking up with a black girlfriend. In a companion ruling, the judge dismissed a countersuit filed by The Source against Shady Records and Eminem himself, in which the magazine claimed it held the rights to the songs. But he denied a request by Shady Records to fine the magazine thousands of dollars because the magazine quickly removed the lyrics in January when lawyers complained. Michael S Elkin, a lawyer for The Source, defends, "The Source had every right to publish the material it did release to inform the public about who Eminem is."

Broderick Admits 'Stepford' Tension

The Stepford Wives star Matthew Broderick has confirmed reports the set of the eagerly-anticipated remake was rife with tension. The Godzilla actor plays Walter Kresby - husband of Nicole Kidman's character Joanna Eberhart - in the Frank Oz film and admits there were disagreements between Kidman, co-star Bette Midler and the wacky director. Broderick explains, "I honestly wasn't there. I now there were some moments of disagreement, but I wasn't in the scenes that the fights would have happened in. Those who have been in the business for a long time know you can't do a movie and not have a disagreement every now and then. Comparing it to other movies, I would say this was rather on the low end of tension."

Lopez "Dumped" by Furious Agents

Jennifer Lopez's representatives at Dan Klores Associates are reportedly so exasperated with her diva antics they've dumped the star. The singer insists she fired the agents. However, they claim they couldn't cope with her excessively demanding and sneaky behavior. An angry insider tells American magazine Scoop, "It was Klores' people who wanted out. They took on J.Lo at a reduced fee, but representing her turned out to be a job and a half. Let's put it this way, J.Lo is not exactly low maintenance. Then, they were totally blind-sided by this wedding. They had flatly denied the story to journalists who they've worked with and they weren't happy about being made to look like liars." Lopez's new representative Leslie Sloane has refused to comment on the matter.

Affleck's Girl Has Criminal Record

Hollywood hunk Ben Affleck has been dealt a second shock this week following the surprise wedding of his former fiancee Jennifer Lopez - his current belle has a criminal record. Yesterday it was exposed Enza Sambataro, a sales worker for a TV station in Boston, was twice found guilty of shoplifting charges and was given a total of 70 hours community service. The 26-year-old stole items worth more than $243 in 1995 and took clothes costing $297 from New York's Bloomingdales department store in 2001. But Pearl Harbor star Affleck, 31, has also been in trouble with the law - in 1999, he was fined for driving while his license was suspended. Affleck's actress ex Lopez married her new man Marc Anthony in an intimate ceremony at her Los Angeles home on Saturday.

Zeta-Jones' Creature Discomfort

Catherine Zeta-Jones was struck with fear during an appearance on comedian Lay Leno's chat show last night - because she feared she'd have to face snakes and rats. The Chicago star, wife of Michael Douglas, made an appearance on Leno's show to promote her new movie The Terminal and was worried to learn that wild animal-loving Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin was also a guest. She told Leno before Irwin stepped out, "You're lucky I haven't passed out because anything with bones and all that stuff... I'm not good with blood. Steve's on the show tonight and I just said to your researcher, 'Please don't say there's snakes or rats or dinosaurs coming on the set tonight!' He has those animals that you think are prehistoric and all of a sudden he's wrestling with 'em." Leno went on to tease the tense Zeta-Jones by claiming a python was locked in a cage on the stage. And although Irwin made his way onto the stage without any of his usual creature companions, he still managed to horrify the Welsh actress by talking about his broken finger. As Zeta-Jones buried her head in her hands in disgust, Irwin quickly apologized, adding, "I didn't bring dinosaurs though!"

Diaz and Timberlake Party on Plane

Superstar couple Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake thrilled passengers onboard the first class section of a jet - by throwing a pajama party. The pair popped open a bottle of champagne on the Qantas flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia after stripping their clothes off in favor of the airline's sleep-suit - and began mingling with their fellow travelers. Following reports last weekend Diaz had split with Timberlake to focus on her movie career, the sexy pair proved they're still very much an item by excitedly chatting to passengers and playing games with them. One passenger says, "They were in very high spirits and are very clearly still in love. They were chatting to loads of passengers. As soon as they got into the air they changed into their free first-class pajamas and ordered a bottle of champagne. People were going up to speak to them and they seemed really happy. Cameron produced a travel version (of ancient Chinese game Mah Jong) and invited other first class passengers to join in. Then they watched their friend Drew Barrymore's film 50 First Dates before settling down for a nap." Timberlake - who flew out to Australia with Diaz on Tuesday - is spending 10 days in the country performing at concerts.

Bardot Fined for Racist Remark

Former screen siren Brigitte Bardot has been fined $5,400 by a French court after making racist remarks in a new book. The 69-year-old was lambasted after attacking the "Islamification of France" in her novel And God Created Woman. She faced up to a year in jail after being charged with inciting racial hatred - but a judge in Paris opted instead to hit her with a heavy fine. A prosecutor at yesterday's hearing said, "Madame Bardot presents Muslins as barbaric and cruel invaders, responsible for terrorist acts." But Bardot - who has previous convictions for inciting racial violence after she criticized the Muslim practice of slaughtering sheep - insists, "I never knowingly wanted to hurt anybody. It is not in my character."

Knightley To Move In with Boyfriend

British actress Keira Knightley is planning to move in with her Irish model boyfriend Jamie Dornan. The Pirates Of The Caribbean beauty, 19, has been dating 21-year-old Dornan for the past six months, and sources now say the pair are planning to move into her new $1.5 million luxury apartment in London's exclusive Mayfair district. A pal says, "Keira idolizes Jamie. She has asked him to stay with her in her new flat for an indefinite amount of time." On May 23, the pair shopped for furniture - including beds. The friend adds, "Jamie relocated to London because he wants to spend more time with Keira." Until recently, Knightley was living with her parents in Teddington, Middlesex.

Olsen Twins Graduate

Twin actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a celebratory return to real life yesterday when they graduated from Campbell High School in Hollywood. The 17-year-old multi-millionaires donned cap and gowns for the occasion, which took place just weeks after their induction on the legendary Walk Of Fame in Hollywood. The sisters - who own an empire of brand merchandise including a clothing line - are now heading off to New York University after their 18th birthday on Sunday.
