Jackman Scoops Top Tony Award

Australian movie heart-throb Hugh Jackman was the toast of Broadway last night after scooping the Best Leading Actor In A Musical award at the 58th Tonys in New York. The X-Men star was given the accolade by Aussie pal Nicole Kidman for his performance as flamboyant entertainer Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz, at the star-studded ceremony in NBC Rockefeller Plaza's Rainbow Room. Stepping up to collect his honor, Jackman said, "Thanks to my wife ( Deborra-Lee Furness) for being the best musical widow, it wouldn't be as much fun without you. I'll be sharing the Fosters when I get to the party. Peter, it's an honor to play you and I dedicate this Tony to you." The big winner on the night was Stephen Sondheim's sardonic musical Assassins, which won five Tonys, including Best Direction Of A Musical for Joe Mantello. Other honorees included quirky musical Avenue Q, which uses puppets, expletives and jingles, which garnered three awards and Wizard Of Oz prequel Wicked, with another trio of accolades. Sean 'P Diddy' Combs' co-star Phylicia Rashad made history after she became the first black actress to win for a leading dramatic role for A Raisin In The Sun.
Kingston Too Old for 'ER'
Alex Kingston has been ditched from hit American TV drama ER after seven years, because she's too old. The 41-year-old British star also says producers have axed her character Dr Elizabeth Corday, because on a $4.1 million-a-year salary - she was too expensive for them to keep Kingston snipes, "According to the producers I am part of the old fogeys who are no longer interesting. I understand that it needs to keep reinventing itself in order to keep going. But I'm sure there must have been some financial feelings behind the decision. I know the newcomers aren't getting much at all." Kingston also clashed with ER bosses about how her character should leave the show. She adds, "They were planning to get me involved with yet another man and I'm already juggling two." But she leaves the multi-award winning program with happy memories: " ER changed my life. It's been extraordinary. I don't think any of us who've been in the show will be in something that was such a phenomenal success ever again. Aside from the past few years I've had the most fantastic time. I really loved it."
Tobey's Costume Hell
Tobey Maguire went through hell during the fitting for his Spider-Man suit, because costumiers plucked out his body hair. The actor had to undergo a strict vegetarian diet to get into shape for the movie superhero, but he admits his costume fitting was the worst thing. He explains, "They put a bodycast on me and usually when they do these bodycasts, they put tights on you so the cast doesn't stick to your hair. They wanted this to fit so well that they didn't put these tights one me. So, when they took it off after it hardened and dried, it ripped probably two thirds of the hair out of my legs. I can still feel it. It was excruciating."
Stewart Wins Another Three Weeks of Freedom
American lifestyle queen Martha Stewart has won a three-week delay in her sentencing, while her lawyers make a bid to get her a new trial. Stewart will head back to court on July 8 to find out if she'll be going to jail or facing a new trial, according to American news show Celebrity Justice. Stewart's lawyers plan to argue their client's trial was unfairly affected by the alleged perjury of Secret Service expert Larry Stewart, who is accused of lying eight times on the witness stand. Stewart was convicted of lying to investigators about why she sold her shares of the stock in 2001.
Actress Rodriguez Lands Morgue Job Instead of Jail
S.W.A.T star Michelle Rodriguez has been sentenced to serve community service at a morgue, after being convicted of driving offenses. Rodriguez was involved in a hit-and-run accident last year. Four months later she was caught speeding, found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and hit with eight traffic offenses. Now, rather than spend a long time behind bars, the actress has agreed to plead guilty to three of the charges against her in exchange for spending 48 hours in jail and doing community service in the morgue of two New York hospitals. Rodriguez has also been instructed to undertake a three-month alcohol program.
Hawke Back with "Other Woman"

Actor Ethan Hawke has rekindled his romance with Jen Perzow, whom he infamously dated as his marriage to Uma Thurman was crumbling. Hawke - who met Perzow on the set of Taking Lives last year - stunned diners last Tuesday by treating his young lover to a romantic dinner at top restaurant Sassafras, reports website Pagesix.Com. And dumbfounded onlookers in Toronto, Canada - the location of his movie remake Assault On Precinct 13 - claim their intense physical appeal for each other was made abundantly clear to the locals. One says, "They couldn't keep their hands off each other. They were making out in the street!" The next morning, Perzow was reportedly spotted on the streets wearing the same blue skirt and white shirt she had on the night before.
Kidman and Midler Deny Diva Antics
Nicole Kidman and Bette Midler have hit out at reports they were "b**chy, demanding divas" on the set of The Stepford Wives. Oscar-winning Kidman and her co-star Midler have earned a reputation for being difficult on the set of the remake, something both actresses' representatives vehemently deny. An on-set source tells website Pagesix.Com, "Between the two of them, they became b**chy, demanding divas, and everyone avoided them and their demands. Bette is very insecure. She was cast as the ugly duckling and she kind of went over the edge. She was satanic. The beautiful girls made Bette feel like an ugly duckling, which was her role in the beginning. But her attitude didn't change much when she was made 'pretty'. Listen, Bette steals the movie. But she questions everything. She is very argumentative and needs endless coddling. She is an overall pain in the a**. But she is great in the movie and everyone was glad to have her in it." Kidman's representative dismisses these comments, "Nothing could be further from the truth. These are ridiculous rumors. Nicole has a sterling reputation and is a real collaborator." And Midler's representative adds, "All the ladies got along great. There was no dissension on set."
Mini-Me Actor Challenges Model's Marriage Claims
Austin Powers' Mini-Me actor Verne Troyer has gone to court to challenge a blonde model's claims he married her. The diminutive actor - who stands just 32 inches tall - is seeking an annulment from five-foot-six-inches tall Genevieve Gallen, who he says fabricated a story of wedlock for her own financial gain. Troyer's attorney Fred Silberberg says, "There's no valid marriage. That's why we're asking for an annulment." Silberberg says the upcoming hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica - set for June 17 - is a motion to deny Gallen's request for financial information from Troyer. Troyer and Gallen were widely reported last summer to have become engaged - with some reports saying they later broke off their relationship. Silberberg denies the two ever made "formal wedding plans".
Burns Still Loves Bruce Willis

Former Baywatch star Brooke Burns is determined to stay friends with ex- boyfriend Bruce Willis - because she still loves his daughters. Burns and Willis split up last month after a six-month romance, which saw them become part of the extended family that also included Demi Moore and her toyboy lover Ashton Kutcher. But Burns insists she has no hard feelings for her ex. She says, "We're not dating right now but he was a lot of fun and he was beautiful to my little girl, and I love his girls as well. They're the best. We're on really good terms. We've got so many priorities in life. I'm in Hawaii right now and I'm working 16-hour days and it's insane. I'm going to be there at least until September. I'll always be in love with him... I still love his girls."
