Tarantino Defends Moore's Palme D'Or Winning Film

Director Quentin Tarantino has lashed out at reports he awarded Michael Moore the prestigious Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for political reasons. Tarantino headed the jury at the annual movie event on the French Riviera and presented the Oscar-winning filmmaker with the festival's highest honor on Saturday, for his anti- George W Bush documentary Fahrenheit 9/11. Moore's film criticize the Bush administration and the White House foreign policy since the September 11th attacks. Tarantino says, "When I was on stage with Michael Moore, I knew all this politics crap would be brought up. I just whispered in his ear and said, 'I just want you to know it was not because of the politics that you won this award. You won it because we thought it was the best film that we saw.'" Disney, who financed the making of the film under their Miramax studio, have refused to distribute it in America. Although Moore has been looking for a new distributor over the past few weeks, he now expects to have a distributor "within the next 24 hours", since picking up the Palme d'Or.
Madonna Cancels Gigs After Kidnap Threat

Superstar Madonna reportedly pulled the plug on her planned
concerts in Israel after she learned of a terrorist plot to kill her
two children.
British newspaper The Sun claims the Material Girl "freaked out" when
she was told an unnamed Palestinian group mentioned details about
Lourdes,
seven and Rocco, three, in a series of threatening letters sent to her
Los
Angeles office.
A source says, "The notes were unbelievably scary.
Madonna is a strong woman but she freaked out when her kids were
mentioned.
At first she was prepared to go on stage anyway and hire extra
security.
But she was not ready to take chances with her kids - they are her
whole
world."
Earlier reports suggested Madonna canceled the Tel Aviv dates for
her Re-Invention tour this summer after Jewish leaders in the country
expressed
dislike of the Kabbalah - the mystical teachings followed by Madonna
and her
husband Guy Ritchie.
A source continues, "It became clear that these people were not
messing
around - they even knew intimate details like who her personal staff
are.
She thought she was being targeted because of her Jewish Kabbalah
religion.
But this group were threatening her because she represents many things
they
hate about the west."
Lohan Blasts Boob Job Reports
Freaky Friday and Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan has branded Hollywood's new fixations with her breasts "perverted" after rumors emerged she had undergone cosmetic surgery. The redhead actress has been sporting a fuller cleavage of late, prompting speculation over whether she's gone under the knife and had a breast enhancement operation. But as the rumors circulate at a rapid pace, Lohan, who insists her curves are completely natural, wants to remind everybody of one important factor - she's just 17. She says, "Recently, I heard that I've gotten a boob job. I'm 17! It's kind of perverted, but if they're gonna write about anything to bring attention to my chest, why not!"
Streisand Ordered To Pay Up

A judge has ordered Barbra Streisand to hand over $154,000 to a man she lost a court battle to, after months of delay in reaching a payment agreement. The singer and actress took photographer Ken Adelman to court for $10 million last year in her quest to have two photographs of her Malibu, California, home removed from his environmental website. But Los Angeles Superior Court judge Allan Goodman ruled the pictures - posted to chronicle the erosion of the California coastline - didn't violate her privacy, and rejected the Funny Girl star's request for an injunction, ordering her to pay defendant Adelman's legal fees. Adelman's attorney, Richard Kendall, told American TV show Celebrity Justice that the parties were ordered to get together and work out a settlement, but that Streisand absolutely refused to agree on any amount - she simply wasn't going to pay. So they went back to court, where Adelman had to file a motion to get the court to order her to turn over the money. The judge had no choice but to come up with his own judgment. And the final decision ordered Streisand to pay Adelman's attorney fees in the amount of $139,000, and since Adelman had to go back to court to force her to pay, the judge tacked on another $15,000 for legal fees. This made Streisand's grand total $154,000. That judgment fell about $40,000 short of what Adelman had asked for, but he says the fact that the judge deemed Streisand's case without merit is the true victory. Streisand has until the end of May to pay up.
Sellers Film: Most Emotional Experience of Ekland's Life
Britt Ekland was so overwhelmed watching the eagerly-waited biopic on her late husband Peter Sellers, she's labeled the exclusive screening the most emotional experience of her life. The Swedish actress - who until recently had angrily objected to the project - admits she was close to tears during the world premiere of The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers at the Cannes Film Festival Saturday night. The 61-year-old says, "I was completely surprised when they said Charlize Theron was playing me, but she did it so well. She was fantastic in the movie and I admit the resemblance was uncanny. I was very happy with the portrayal - she looked sensational. The movie was completely original and I found watching it an incredibly emotional and moving experience. The actor Geoffrey Rush is a genius. He played Peter so well it was very emotional for me." Ekland had threatened the film's makers with legal action if she was misrepresented by Monster star Theron - and previously described the casting as "nonsense" - but accepted the actress' invitation to be "her date" at the premiere. The movie is released later this summer and tells the story of The Pink Panther star's turbulent private life.
DeGeneres Wins Emmy for Talk Show
Ellen DeGeneres' conversion from sitcom comedienne to talk show host has been confirmed a successful one - her new show has scooped a Daytime Emmy Award at a ceremony in New York. The witty TV host won the prize for outstanding talk show at the 31st annual ceremony on Friday at Radio City Music Hall. DeGeneres, who shot to fame in her self-titled sitcom Ellen, was also nominated in the talk show host category but was beaten to the award by Wayne Brady. She says, "I should have been in daytime a long time ago. We have fun every day. It's the best job I've ever had."
Simpson Beats Spears To Daisy Duke Role
Britney Spears's hopes of landing the role of Daisy Duke in the forthcoming movie version of The Dukes Of Hazzard have been dashed - after bosses handed it to Jessica Simpson. While star Spears had expressed an interest in playing the sexy character from the '70s/'80s TV show, singer Simpson has been chosen as the blonde who will fill the extra-short shorts of original Daisy Duke Catherine Bach. Simpson's manager father Joe tells America's Star magazine, "She is really excited." Simpson herself adds, "I wanna wear those shorts so bad!" The film, about three redneck cousins, two corrupt public officials and a souped- up Dodge Charger car, begins production this summer.
Cruz Slams McConaughey Romance Reports

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has finally put speculation to rest about her reported romance with Matthew McConaughey - by insisting she's single. Cruz was reported to have been dating McConaughey - with whom she's been shooting the movie Sahara in Morocco - shortly after her relationship with Tom Cruise ended in January, but she insists it's all false. She tells American TV show Access Hollywood, "I'm not dating anybody right now. I have a work relationship. Every time I'm not in a relationship or after a relationship, like the one I had for almost three years, it's like, '(Who) is it gonna be next time?' I don't like that part of it."
Pitt Congratulates Paltrow
Brad Pitt has led a chorus of celebrities congratulating his former fiancee Gwyneth Paltrow on the birth of her daughter. Shakespeare In Love beauty Paltrow and her rocker husband Chris Martin welcomed Apple Blythe Alison Martin into the world last Friday near their London home. And the news was broken to Pitt by TV show Entertainment Tonight as he toured Japan promoting his new hit movie Troy. He says, "That's fantastic. It's beautiful. That's great." And Working Girl star Melanie Griffith is highly impressed with Paltrow's unusual choice of name. She coos, "Apple - that's sweet. Congratulations Gwyneth! That's beautiful." Cameron Diaz, on the other hand, is certain the new bundle of joy has already earned her name through a facial feature alone. She explains, "I'm sure with those beautiful cheeks that she bares by her mother that she'll live up to her name Apple."
Bosworth Thanks Press for Bloom Romance
Win A Date With Ted Hamilton star Kate Bosworth is grateful to the media for bringing her closer to her actor boyfriend Orlando Bloom. Although the high-profile coverage of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's romance played a part in their split earlier this year , the blonde beauty credits her fame with strengthening her relationship with the Lord Of The Rings hunk. The 20-year-old says, "when you become a public figure you're sort of giving yourself to the world and you realize the people who matter are the ones who know you best. It brought me closer to my loved ones and made me appreciate them. I try not to be suspicious of new people, but it's natural I am a little." Bosworth is currently filming Sin City with her boyfriend's LOTR co-star Elijah Wood.
Hilton and Porn Star Strip for Each Other
The Simple Life star Paris Hilton shocked onlookers by baring her breasts for porn legend Ron Jeremy - in return for a glimpse at his infamously large manhood. Cheeky Hilton, 23, and her actress friend Bijou Phillips approached the X- rated film star at a Los Angeles party and asked to see his notoriously large penis. And 51-year-old Jeremy agreed to oblige, but only if they flashed their chests. A source says, "Ron is only in porn for one reason and it's certainly not his looks. The girls really wanted to see it. So they all went off to the toilets and five minutes later Bijou came out saying, 'It's bigger than my boyfriend's!'"
