Ethan and Uma to Reconcile?

Movie superstars Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman could be on the verge of a reconciliation - they've reportedly put their divorce on hold. According to friends, the couple have remained in constant contact for the sake of their two young children - Maya and Levon - and relations between them have thawed considerably. And Britain's Daily Sport newspaper reports that many sources close to Gattaca co-stars believe there is still hope for their floundering five-year marriage. One says, "They are in a holding pattern. They're talking all the time." The news will come as a shock to Uma's new lover Andre Balzas, who took the Kill Bill beauty and her kids to the Caribbean for a romantic holiday over Christmas. Thurman walked out on Hawke in October last year amid reports he had been cheating on her while filming Taking Lives in Canada. The actor has since denied his infidelity was the cause of their split.
Gibson Planning Jewish Movie

Hollywood star Mel Gibson is already planning his next foray into the weighty world of religious film-making - he wants to make a movie about the origins of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Gibson - who was criticized by some quarters of the Jewish church, who accused his epic The Passion Of The Christ of blaming Jews for Jesus Christ's death - has hinted he may make a filmed account of the Revolt Of The Maccabees, the story behind Hanukkah. The 46-year-old says, "The story that's always fired my imagination is the Book of Maccabees. "The Maccabees family stood up, and they made war. They stuck by their guns and they came out winning. It's like a western." The Maccabees led a three year war, 200 years before the birth of Jesus, against Antiochus, a king who forced the Jews to worship false gods. The war led to the liberation of Jerusalem. Gibson's interest in Jewish history concerns the Jewish Anti-defamation League. National director Abe Foxman says, "My answer would be, 'Thanks but no thanks.' The last thing we need in Jewish history is to convert our history into a western." Meanwhile, Gibson is set to become the richest star in the world thanks to a series of clever financial tie-ins to his self-funded film. The Passion's soundtrack has already rocketed to the top of the Christian and Soundtrack charts in America, becoming one of the best-selling albums in both territories. And other Passion merchandise is flying off shelves too - photography book The Passion: Photography from the Movie The Passion of the Christ has debuted high on America's new bestsellers' list, and jewelry items such as "The Passion Nail Pendant" have become fashion statements for fervent Christians.
Gyllenhaal for 'Green Hornet'
Jake Gyllenhaal is favorite to take the lead role in new movie The Green Hornet, after the Donnie Darko star held talks with director Kevin Smith. The 23-year-old is wanted by Smith to portray the comic book superhero, known as mild mannered newspaper publisher Britt Reid when he's not fighting crime. The Green Hornet was made into a TV series in the sixties, which famously starred kung-fu legend Bruce Lee.
Almodóvar Threatened with Lawsuit

The outgoing Spanish Government are threatening to sue director Pedro Almodóvar, after he accused it of planning a "coup". The Oscar-winner alleged the Popular Party tried to postpone last Sunday's general election - in which they were defeated - with demonstrations outside their Madrid HQ to help them stay in power. Proclaiming himself happy the party had lost office, Almodóvar, who won a best Screenplay Oscar in 2003 for Hable Con Ella, said at a press conference to promote his new movie Bad Education on Tuesday, "We were on the point of having a PP coup d'etat. The PP will bring a complaint before the appropriate courts. "I am very happy to begin again a life in a united and free country where democracy has returned." But his comments have incensed party supporters - four thousand rallied outside the party's headquarters on Wednesday, denouncing Almodóvar's film, which deals with sexual harassment in a religious school, as an attack on the Catholic Church. The party are reportedly prepared to sue.
Affleck Slams Gay Marriage Opposition

Hollywood hunk Ben Affleck has slammed American President George W Bush's call to outlaw gay marriage. Thousands of same-sex couples - including TV personality Rosie O'Donnell and her longtime love Kelli Carpenter - have flocked to San Francisco, California, in recent weeks to tie the knot in defiance of Bush's ban. And Affleck, who recently enjoyed a same-sex smooch with comic actor Seth Meyers when they starred in a gay marriage skit on Saturday Night Live, has joined a growing list of celebrities who believe homosexuals should be allowed the right to wed. He says, "I don't think the government should be involved in any way in people's bedrooms or lives. With so much hatred and unpleasantness in the world, why would you wanna get in the way of people who love each other marrying each other? "Anybody who wants to be able to get married to anybody else should be able to. It's not my business."
Are Leelee & Lennon an Item?
Eyes Wide Shut star Leelee Sobieski has fueled rumors she's dating Sean Lennon after wearing a diamond necklace - loaned to her by the rocker's mother Yoko Ono. The couple were spotted kissing and cuddling during the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on Monday, but both refused to answer questions about a possible romance. Sobieski did, however, admit her pretty necklace belonged to Yoko. Lennon recently split from longtime love Bijou Phillips and has since been romantically linked to Naomi Campbell.
Jetsetting Dreams Spur Jolie On to Become a Pilot

Movie beauty Angelina Jolie wants to become a pilot so she can ferry aid workers and food supplies around the world - and impress her young son Maddox with jet setting adventures. The Tomb Raider actress is studying hard for her license and has given herself a five-year deadline to master flying so she can take to the skies on a whim. Speaking exclusively to Vogue magazine, Jolie insists she'll retire from acting once she masters the cockpit, and spend more time working for the United Nations, for which she's an ambassador for refugees. The actress - who has a home in England - says, "My dream is to retire in a few years and take six months and deliver food and help people get from one place to another and just loan out services as a pilot and be with my kids. I could just go. "Part of this motivation, I'm convinced, is that every time Mad sees a plane he goes, 'Ahhhhh! Mama!' And the idea that I could actually fly a plane by the time he's four? I'll be like Superman to him. "We could get to Ireland in a half hour. 'What do you want to do Mad? You want to go get Ice Cream in Spain?'"
Rodriguez's All-Star Cast
Clooney Sex Secrets 'Stolen'

The private antics of movie hunk George Clooney could be laid bare - after thieves raided his former flame Lisa Snowdon's London home and stole her diary and other personal material. Stunning Lisa - who works as a TV presenter in her native Britain - is reportedly "distraught" over the theft of many invaluable items, which are thought to give an insight into Clooney's life and loves. The Ocean's Eleven heart-throb dated Snowdon in 2002 but they split after a year due to his reluctance to commit to her. London police have yet to apprehend the burglars. Snowdon's spokesperson says, "Police are investigating but have not caught the intruders. Fortunately Lisa was not in her East London home at the time."
Diaz to Tread the London Boards?

Hollywood star Cameron Diaz is in talks to star in one of Kevin Spacey's forthcoming London theater productions. The Charlie Angel's actress is considering treading the boards of the Old Vic Theatre in the British capital's South Bank in Spacey's first show The Philadelphia Story. The K-Pax actor is planning four plays at the theatre later this year, however a theater source has noted, "The program is a long way to being finalized."
