Brittany Murphy Gets Engaged
8 Mile and Uptown Girls star Brittany Murphy has reportedly got engaged to talent manager Jeff Kwatinetz. According to American gossip site Page Six, the pair agreed to marry on Friday at a silent movie theatre in Los Angeles. Murphy began dating Kwatinetz, who is the founder of Hollywood management agency The Firm, following her split from her Just Married co-star Ashton Kutcher last May.
Audience Banned from 'Friends' Finale
Friends bosses are taking drastic measures to keep one of the most eagerly-awaited endings to a TV show secret - they're shooting the final episode without an audience. The massively popular sitcom is finally coming to an end this year after a ten year run, and bosses are determined to keep the fate of the show's six characters - played by Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer - a secret until the final episode is broadcast. However, Schwimmer has revealed the ending of the series, which is being filmed this month, is a positive one. He says, "It's exactly what I had hoped. We all end with a sense of a new beginning, and the audience has a sense that it's a new chapter for all of the characters in their lives and it's a positive one. It was really funny, and we laughed and all that, but there is still something that's very hard about it."
'Taboo' Admits Defeat
Boy George and Rosie O'Donnell's musical Taboo has finally had to admit defeat and end its unsuccessful transfer to the Broadway stage. The production - which was a hit in London's West End - was dogged with reports of arguments between Boy George, who wrote the majority of the musical, and producer O'Donnell, even before it opened on November 13. Despite repeated assurances from the former chat show host all was well on set, audiences failed to flock to the Plymouth Theatre, meaning the show failed to even reach its break-even point, which was reportedly $396,000. The League Of American Theatres And Producers estimated Taboo - which is based on the former Culture Club singer's life in early eighties London - only made $282,600 last week. However, O'Donnell remains philosophical about the experience, even though she funded the musical entirely herself, commenting, " Taboo was by far the most fulfilling experience of my career. Many lessons were learned, and so it goes. For this experience, I am profoundly grateful and have no regrets." The final performance will take place on February 8.
Grammer To Replace Lane in 'The Producers'?
Kelsey Grammer is bouncing back from the impending end of his long-running sitcom Frasier - he's in negotiations to appear in Broadway, New York musical The Producers. The rotund actor is being lined up to replace Nathan Lane, who plays Max Bialystock in the farce, after he and his co-star Matthew Broderick returned to the production due to popular demand for a limited run, which will end in April. However, Grammer has no idea who would take Broderick's role as Leo Bloom. He says, "I don't know. That's one of the questions."
TV Crews Banned from Jacko Hearing

Troubled Michael Jackson can breathe a sigh of relief - his court appearance on charges of child abuse this Friday will not be broadcast on TV. In a major blow to television networks, a judge has banned crews from the Santa Barbara, California, courtroom where the Thriller star will be arraigned on seven counts of performing lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14 and two counts of administering an 'intoxicating agent' to a child. Santa Barbara superior court judge Rodney Melville - who made the decision on Monday - will also decide whether lawyers, witnesses and Jackson advisors attending the hearing should talk with reporters once the judicial process gets under way. On Friday, 45-year-old Jackson will have to declare whether he is innocent or guilty of the charges filed by Santa Barbara prosecutors against him on December 18.
Ozzy's New Collarbone

Ailing reality TV star Ozzy Osbourne is getting used to having a rod for a collarbone. The rocker's wife Sharon Osbourne told viewers of her American TV chat show all about Ozzy's terrifying accident in December, when her beloved husband nearly died following a quad bike accident in his English country estate. It was the rock matriarch's first appearance on The Sharon Osbourne Show after spending the past month by Ozzy's hospital bed in Slough, south England. Ozzy had to have an artery transplant after part of his collarbone severed an artery leading to his arm, and just avoided having his arm amputated. The Osbournes star added Ozzy was confused a lot and at some points believed he was in New Zealand and Amsterdam and survived a bomb blast in Wales.
Wesley Snipes Named As Halle Berry Abuser

Actor Wesley Snipes has been exposed as the abusive ex-lover of Halle Berry, who struck the actress so hard, she lost most of the hearing in her right ear. R&B singer Christopher Williams - who dated Berry in the early 1990s - has made the startling accusation against the Blade star after getting upset with the number of people who assume it was him who dealt the screen beauty the damaging blow. He tells entertainment news website Eurweb, "The stuff they wrote about (me) and Halle was totally false. They said something like I busted her eardrum, and I'm tired of it. I never said it (before) but I'm so tired of people thinking I'm the guy (who did it). Wesley Snipes busted her eardrum, not me." Williams, who has a child with ex-girlfriend Stacey Dash, also takes a swipe at Berry - insisting the twice-married star may have personality problems which have contributed to her string of broken relationships, most recently from Eric Benet. He adds, "I have (men) come up to me like, 'How could you just leave Halle Berry' I'm like, how could you just leave the last relationship you was (in)? (Halle) is just a woman, but because her name is in lights, people are damned near ready to bare their souls. "They would probably crucify Jesus again just to get with her. It's funny because the stars that get all of the good write-ups, you go and meet them and they are total a**holes."
Shearer Relieved He Has Escaped Jury Duty
This Is Spinal Tap star Harry Shearer managed to escape jury duty in the Robert Blake murder trial by convincing the authorities that he'd be sued if he participated. Shearer, who also voices a host of characters in The Simpsons, was shocked when he found himself in the jury pool for the upcoming court case. But he has since been excused after insisting his bosses at Twentieth Century Fox would seek compensation for the amount of time he missed at work, while summing up whether Blake is innocent or guilty. He says, "They said, 'What'll happen if you don't show up?' and I said, 'They'll probably sue me for breach of contract.' I assume that they know the Fox people as well as I do because it was, 'You're excused.'" Shearer admits he's relieved he doesn't have to sit through the court case: "The whole thing reminded me of detention." Actress Christina Applegate hasn't been quite as lucky - she has been called back for consideration on the jury, but she accepts if she has to do her duty, that's fine. She says, "I'm a citizen. I have to do what I have to do."
Ashton: Demi Didn't Boost My Career

Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher has lashed out at claims dating Demi Moore has boosted his career. The Just Married actor, 25, is furious at those who suggest his TV and film successes are due to his relationship with the Indecent Proposal star, 41. He says, "Let's just recap for a moment. Before I met her, I managed to figure out how to be on That's 70s Show - a successful sitcom - for five years. I managed to produce and make my own TV show Punk'd. I managed to make a couple of films that did extremely well Dude, Where's My Car? and Just Married which opened at number one in the US box office. I already had a pretty good career before I met my current significant other and I think I'll have a pretty good one after. I don't think it's all because of who I'm dating."
Jack White Pleads Innocent in Assault Case
White Stripes frontman Jack White will stand trial on March 9, after pleading innocent to charges of aggravated assault on Von Bondies singer Jason Stollsteimer. The December 13 fight between White and Stollsteimer began shortly before midnight at Detroit, Michigan's Majestic Theater Center, where both men were in the audience for another concert. Stollsteimer, 25, told police that White punched him seven times in the face. Police said Stollsteimer's right eye was bruised and swollen, and he was bleeding from his nose. White went to the police after the fight and gave a statement saying he struck Stollsteimer in self-defense. White faces punishment ranging from no jail time to a maximum of a year in prison and a $1,000 fine if convicted.
