Arrest Warrant Issued for Michael Jackson

LATEST: In the wake of a massive search of Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, California police have issued an arrest warrant for the eccentric pop star and are currently negotiating with Jackson's lawyers for terms under which the singer will be taken into custody; bail has been set at $3 million. A spokesman for the Las Vegas police issued a statement Wednesday morning that Santa Barbara police had contacted the Las Vegas department about the arrest, as Jackson is currently residing in the Nevada resort metropolis with his three children while shooting a music video; the Vegas police department did not specify the charges under which Jackson would be arrested. At a press conference later Wednesday morning, the Santa Barbara police confirmed that a warrant was issued for "multiple counts of child molestation" and that bail had been set. The police also stated that charges would be filed quickly and that a civil suit was not expected, as they "have a cooperative victim in this particular proceeding." Media reports yesterday cited that the impending arrest may stem from an accusation by a 12 year-old boy who stayed at the Neverland Ranch three months ago, and the Santa Barbara County district attorney's office confirmed the child molestation charges Wednesday morning. Under the current charges, Jackson could face three to eight years in prison. There is no word yet on when Jackson will return to California and be taken into custody. --Prepared by IMDb staff

O'Donnell Faces Financial Ruin from 'Taboo'

American comedienne Rosie O'Donnell could lose an incredible $20 million after promising to keep flop show Taboo on the Broadway stage until January. The League Of Their Own star has personally invested a huge $10 million in developing and staging the Boy George-penned musical, which is loosely based on the singer's life in early-eighties London. And Rosie - who insists the show should carry on despite dismal reviews and poor ticket sales - could double her loss. A source tells the Pagesix website, "On opening night and after the awful weekend, Rosie still says she will single-handedly keep the show open until January. She thinks people just need to warm up to the show, but on Saturday night only 250 seats out of 1,050 were filled. No one wants to see the show. It is awful. She bastardized the British version, which was successful. The talk on Broadway is that she is going to lose her shirt. The show costs over $500,000 a week to run. Last week - its opening week - it only took in $320,872.49 for seven performances. So Rosie has to pay the rest of the costs out of pocket. There is nothing that will lift this production off the ground. Nothing. It's not even farce-bad. This is just tedious. On a good note, Rosie is very committed to the show and cast." A representative for Taboo says, "We've played 21 performances to date and have received 21 standing ovations. There is every reason to believe that Taboo, like most new musicals, will find its audience."

Minnelli Sues Ex for Theft

Liza Minnelli has launched a $2 million lawsuit against her estranged husband David Gest, alleging he stole from her during their 16 month marriage. The suit, filed in New York, questions expense deductions Gest made from money Minnelli earned in performances he produced or acted as her agent. It comes just a month after 50-year-old Gest launched his own $10 million lawsuit against Minnelli, claiming she beat him. The pair are also currently suing each other for divorce. Gest's lawyer, Raoul Felder, yesterday denied claims the producer stole from Minnelli - insisting his client "laid out millions of dollars" to produce his wife's shows and ultimately had lost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Britney Makes Hollywood History

Britney Spears became the youngest singer ever to get a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Monday. Dressed in a fluffy pink jacket and looking very tired after a weekend full of promotional work for her new album In The Zone, the pop princess admitted she was flattered to be compared to Marilyn Monroe by Hollywood 'Mayor' Johnny Grant. She said, "Madonna, Marilyn - to be in that company. I love those comparisons. They're icons."

Arnie Works for Free

Action man Arnold Schwarzenegger has begun his second day as California's new Governor by revealing he'll be working for free. The Terminator star, who took office on Monday, made his first State of Change news conference yesterday morning and insisted he'll tackle California's $25 billion budget deficit by cracking down on needless expenditure. And that means turning down the $175,000-a-year Governor's salary. Schwarzenegger told press in Sacramento, California, "I'm not going to take a salary. I'm going to start straight right away there and make that cut... and leave it in the general fund, because I want to make the first positive move forward on that." The movie star-turned-politician plans to crackdown on all expenditure, which he hopes will prevent politicians and state workers recklessly overspending. He also revealed he plans to be a compassionate Governor as he considers cutting salaries and terminating state workers' jobs in the coming weeks. He says, "I will not lay anyone off in December or before Christmas." Schwarzenegger is keen to produce a proposed $2 billion in budget cuts by December 5.

Jackson Could Face Reopened Case

New sex allegations made against Michael Jackson could lead detectives to reopen the molestation case filed by 13-year-old Jordy Chandler in 1993, according to lawyers. Santa Barbara District Attorney Tom Sneddon has warned the singer the accusations could be re-investigated because the case was settled out of court. Yesterday, the "Billie Jean" star's California ranch was raided by detectives after a 12-year-old boy claimed he was sexually abused by the singer. Speaking of the 1993 allegations, Sneddon says, "The case against Michael Jackson was never closed and he was never exonerated. It's in suspended animation and could be reopened at any time."

Hugh Grant's Girl Revealed

Hugh Grant has been secretly dating United Nations worker Kasia Komorowicz for the last three years. The British actor hinted he has a new love at the British premiere of the Richard Curtis movie Love Actually on Sunday night, but would not reveal her identity. However, Kasia has broken silence to reveal all about their love affair, which she says began after Grant split with Elizabeth Hurley in 2000. She says, "I totally love Hugh, he's amazing and I would love to be with him more but he's all over the place emotionally and I need something solid. But he's a great kisser and we have a fantastic time. We meet up for drinks or dinner and spend nice evenings together."

Bashful Berry and Coy Cruz

Movie co-stars Halle Berry and Penelope Cruz refused to strip alongside naked extras for a raunchy scene in new movie Gothika, after changing their minds at the last minute. Despite Berry previously peeling off in Swordfish and Monster's Ball, and Cruz stripping in Vanilla Sky and Open Your Eyes - the sexy pair insisted on keeping their underwear on for the steamy shower scene after losing their nerve at the last minute. Berry laughs, "Penelope and I kind of wimped out. We had pasties while the other ladies stood there naked for hours." However, the movie beauty insists she's still happy to consider roles that require nudity. She adds, "My sexuality is a part of me I like to play with and explore. There was a time when I thought that to be taken seriously as an actress I could not really express that part of who I am. But with Swordfish I got a lot more comfortable with my sexuality."

Cruise Turns Cruz to Scientology

Actress Penelope Cruz is embracing the teachings of the Church of Scientology, having been converted to the religion by devoted follower Tom Cruise. The sexy Vanilla Sky star admits she has benefited from Scientology - which has been attacked by religious leaders for alienating followers from their families - after being introduced to it by her Hollywood beau. Cruz, who was raised a Catholic, joins the likes of John Travolta and Kirstie Alley in the controversial communion. She says, "Thanks to my boy, I have got to know Scientology and I can only say positive things about it." Cruise's ex-wife Nicole Kidman's skepticism about Scientology was reported to be a major factor behind the collapse of their marriage three years ago.

Racy Rodriguez Faces Driving Charges

Actress Michelle Rodriguez faces eight misdemeanor charges after she was caught driving fast and furiously twice on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Blue Crush star originally got into trouble for leaving the scene of an accident in July after she ran into another motorist. And then she was pulled over by police on the same stretch of road earlier this month after she was caught speeding. Police discovered that the actress' driving privilege was suspended at the time and she was under the influence of alcohol. Rodriguez is due in a Los Angeles court to answer the charges in late December.

The actors were among 75 people to have created colorful statues for the mouse's big day, which will now embark on an American tour of galleries and art spaces, which began in Disney World in Florida yesterday and runs until April. The tour will end in summer 2005, when the celebrity-designed statues will be auctioned off for charity.
