Christian Slater and Wife in Las Vegas Fight

Christian Slater's wife Ryan Haddon has been arrested after she allegedly hit the actor with a drinking glass during a fight - leaving him in need of 20 stitches to his head. Haddon, a television producer, was arrested at Las Vegas' Hard Rock hotel and casino on Monday and charged with a misdemeanor battery domestic violence charge. According to Las Vegas police lieutenant Juanita Goode, Haddon was taken to the Clark County jail for a mandatory 24-hour detention, and Slater, 34, was taken to Desert Springs Hospital, where he received 20 stitches. The two have been married since February 2000.

Zeta-Jones Takes Action Over Atkins Diet Reports

Movie actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has instructed her lawyers to stamp out media reports that credit her post-pregnancy weight loss to the controversial Atkins Diet. The Intolerable Cruelty star is upset her name has been linked with the anti-carbohydrate diet, and is worried fans who admire her may take it up. Her lawyer Jay Lavely says, "She never authorized the use of her name, likeness or persona in any way to endorse or promote the Atkins Diet. She is being made to look as if she is more concerned about her outward appearance than with serious health concerns. The diet has been derided by nutritionists and other health care officials for decades. Many doctors refer to the Atkins Diet as 'pseudo science'." But Atkins Nutritionals Inc. spokesman Richard Rothstein tells the New York Daily News, "We have never solicited the support of any celebrities. It's not a Hollywood diet. "

Rosie Won't Appeal

Rosie O'Donnell has promised to stand by the judge's decision as she fights a breach of contract dispute in court with publishers Gruner + Jahr Usa. The former chat show host and actress stood next to her partner Kelli Carpenter at Monday's hearing and insisted she would do whatever the authorities at Manhattan Supreme Court, New York decide is best in the case. She said, "I have never been on the stand testifying. It's a very unique experience. I believe this judge is a wise man, and I will do whatever he decides. I am expecting a quick and speedy end to this trial. I will not appeal the verdict." A verdict is expected later this month. Meanwhile, O'Donnell's new New York musical Taboo opens on Thursday.

'Dirty Harry' Tops "Guy Movie" Poll

Clint Eastwood's 1971 Dirty Harry film has topped a new poll of The 50 Best Guy Movies. The cop drama, in which Eastwood plays ruthless Detective Harry Callahan, beat The Godfather, Scarface and Die Hard to the top spot. Meanwhile, Eastwood and Paul Newman are the kings of the guy movie genre, according to the Men's Journal poll, with three movies each making the list, and the 1980s was the best decade, with 14 films featured. And the guy movie isn't all about action, it seems, although nine of the top 10 films feature plenty of it - comedies like Caddyshack, Blazing Saddles and Animal House also make the top 50 list. The full top 10 is: 1. Dirty Harry; 2. The Godfather; 3. Scarface; 4. Die Hard; 5. The Terminator; 6. Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior; 7. The Dirty Dozen; 8. The Matrix; 9. Caddyshack; 10. Rocky.

Cruise's Samurai Close Call

Actor Tom Cruise almost made the ultimate sacrifice his new movie The Last Samurai when a co-star came close to cutting off his famous head. Screen legend Tom was filming a sword fight scene opposite co-star Hiroyuki Sanada for the dramatic action movie. He was on an off-camera mechanical horse while Sanada swung the weapon about. But it all nearly went horribly wrong - the machine stopped working suddenly and failed to move Cruise out of slashing range at the crucial moment. Sanada says, "I swung my sword at Tom's neck to behead him and the horse didn't work. I stopped the blade just one inch from his neck."

Britney Wows Chilly New York

Britney Spears made MTV history in New York Monday night when she closed down the city's 44th Street and Broadway to perform live for the first time on hit show Total Request Live. Wearing extremely low-cut brown leather trousers, a midriff bearing top and a fedora hat, the pop superstar performed "Me Against The Music" and "Boom Boom," from her forthcoming album In The Zone, for thousands of fans who braved a chilly New York night to see Britney. Fans, who had gathered as early as 8am yesterday to make sure they had prime position for the two-song free concert, were rewarded by MTV staff when they were allowed to ask their heroine questions. Devotees held their questions, written on posters, aloft and Britney picked which ones to answer.

Jude Law & Sienna To Marry?

Jude Law's relationship with new girlfriend Sienna Miller is so serious pals reckon the pair will marry next year. Only weeks after securing a divorce from ex-wife Sadie Frost, 30-year-old Law has reportedly bought a flat in New York with sexy actress Sienna, who stars alongside him in the Alfie remake. An insider says, "It's serious between Jude and Sienna - very serious. They won't be rushing into things with indecent haste, but we think there will be an announcement next year." Hunky Law will next be seen onscreen in Cold Mountain, co-starring Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger.

Monty Python Star Faces Costly Broadway Wrangle

Eric Idle's stage version of Monty Python movie The Holy Grail has hit a major snag - a fellow Broadway, New York-bound production has asked him to change the musical's title. The comic has been contacted by a "disappointed" attorney representing a forthcoming stage version of Frederick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner's classic Camelot, urging the Brit to axe the proposed title for his show, Spamalot - a word Idle lifted from a Monty Python song. Production chiefs for Camelot are concerned the theatre-going public will be confused by the similarity of the titles. In a fax, the attorney writes, "I was disappointed to learn of the possibility that it might be called Spamalot. It is anticipated that there will be a Broadway production of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot opening in the same season as the anticipated Spamalot, and the presence of these two shows together, we believe, can lead only to confusion in the minds of the public. Since Lerner and Loewe's Camelot has been in existence since 1961, we suggest that you consider changing the title of your musical." But 60-year-old Idle - whose musical is expected to hit Broadway in 2005 - is unimpressed, and has launched a scathing attack on the "idiots" the lawyer is describing. He spits, "Surely only an idiot could confuse Camelot and Spamalot. But idiots are how lawyers make their money."

'Frasier' To Carry On After All?

Kelsey Grammer has sparked doubts over whether his sitcom Frasier will end next year, after expressing a desire for the hit show to continue. Grammer had long maintained his award winning 10-year-old show's current season would definitely be the last, but now he's stated he'd gladly film another series if TV bosses decide they want to. He says, "The truth be told, if NBC called me tomorrow and said, 'We can't live without you, we have to extend the show for another year, ' I'd probably say, 'Great, thank God.' I could use another little piece of change! But I'm in a position where I can let the show go and I'm very proud of the way we're doing the shows this year. The writing is very good this year and there's a kind of renewed energy about the show and it's kind of exciting. But I'm a little mixed about it... I'm conflicted."

Beckhams Sing Duet Together

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is desperately bidding to spark more interest in her pop comeback, by enlisting the musical talents of her soccer superstar David Beckham. A voice mail message left by the Real Madrid ace in which he tells Victoria he loves her and asks her to call him back is sampled on one her new tracks. However, it is unknown if the track will be released on the new album as Victoria's label Telstar are reportedly unhappy with some of her new songs. Hip-hop producer Damon Dash - who worked on the new material - says, "The track is about waiting for a call from a loved one and obviously David was the only man for Victoria to sing about. It's a mellow R&B tune as opposed to some of the harder hip-hop tracks we've recorded."

Blaine Stunt's Final Cost

Illusionist David Blaine's London starvation stunt cost more than $102,000 to police. Half the bill is being paid for by television bosses, who are also covering parking and cleaning costs incurred by the local council during the 44-day stunt next to the capital's Tower Bridge. However, the bill doesn't include the costs of policing the final day, when Blaine left the Perspex box.
