Ben and Jen To Elope?

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly planning to sneak away for a secret wedding at the actor's island retreat in Georgia, America. The celebrity couple have kept the world on tenterhooks since calling off their $2 million California marriage at the last minute last month. Affleck was reportedly unhappy with plans for a spectacular ceremony, preferring an exclusive 'friends and family' bash in private - and it seems he may have got his wish. A source close to the couple tells American magazine Us Weekly, "They are in love and want to get married sooner rather than later. They will slip off and do something quite discreet." Meanwhile, other evidence seems to point towards an impending event - another American tabloid spotted J.Lo buying matching his-and-her diamond bracelets at a jewelers in Las Vegas at the weekend at a cost of around $1 million. Local Las Vegas newspapers also claim she splashed out on a $3,000 Roberto Cavalli dress and a $10,000 Versace gown during her stay in Vegas.

Uma Takes Time Off To Save Marriage

Kill Bill beauty Uma Thurman has cleared her diary for the next few months to spend time trying to save her marriage to fellow superstar Ethan Hawke. The Gattaca co-stars announced their separation last month after it emerged that Hawke had been openly romancing Canadian model Jen Perzow. But hopeful Uma tells Vanity Fair magazine she has committed to trying to rebuild the relationship for the sake of their children Maya, five, and Roan, one. She says, "I am with the kids, and I am committed to taking the Fall off. Then we will see what happens." Thurman admitted that she and Hawke have not yet had a proper discussion about their floundering romance and that she remains unconvinced that their love can survive.

Liza Laughs Off Gest Lawsuit

Singing legend Liza Minnelli has hit back at estranged husband David Gest's explosive $6 million lawsuit - by dismissing the claim she abused him while drunk as "stupid". In a statement via her lawyer Delia McCabe, Liza says, "I hoped very much that the end of my marriage would be handled with mutual respect and dignity. The allegations in this lawsuit are hurtful and without merit. My lawyers will respond to the lawsuit in the proper forum. I will continue to focus on my work, my sobriety and my fans who have been so wonderful to me." The Cabaret star stands accused of domestic abuse towards the 49-year-old concert promoter, and exacting injuries which he claims to still be suffering from. But Minnelli, 57, told fans yesterday, "Oh my God, it's not true. It's stupid. I never hit him. It's rubbish." The astonished admirers later told reporters that the strain of the latest twist in her marriage saga did not seem to be taking its toll on the troubled star. One comments, "I expected her to look upset and be unfriendly but she was really nice and seemed quite happy."

Fears for Pammie's Health

Fans fear Pamela Anderson is risking her health, after the actress was filmed drinking alcohol on a Swedish television show. The ex-Baywatch babe, who suffers from Hepatitis C, stunned fans on Monday when she told American radio presenter Howard Stern her condition meant she had only five to 10 years left to live. She insisted she would maintain a healthy lifestyle for the sake of her kids with ex-husband, rocker Tommy Lee - a key element of which is abstinence from alcohol, as Hepatitis suffers have a severely weakened liver. Scandinavian fans of the busty actress were therefore stunned to see her openly swigging a local brew on Swedish show High Chaparral. A devotee tells American news site The Scoop, "She was on a show called High Chaparral and she drank Glögg - an alcoholic drink Swedes drink at Christmas - and red wine. Now they're having a contest where you can win her wine glass and Glögg glass."

Courteney Cox's Baby Secret Unveiled

Courteney Cox and husband David Arquette's dream of becoming parents has finally been realized, according to the actor's brother, Alexis Arquette. Alexis, 43, broke the good news during a Monday appearance on The Sharon Osbourne Show, which will hit TV screens on November 7. Set sources say that while looking through a photo album, Alexis stopped at a picture of Friends beauty Cox and said, "I have a little secret to tell everybody, and they don't know I'm going to tell it, but I talked to her last night and we were together and she told me. Ladies and gentlemen, keep your fingers crossed - she's pregnant again. Every ginger is crossed. Our legs are crossed, everything is crossed." Scream co-stars Cox and Arquette have had conception problems during their five-year marriage, with the actress suffering two miscarriages. And while the good news has sent ripples of excitement around Hollywood, the couple's publicist Cindy Guagenti says, "We're not commenting. When they're pregnant and ready to announce it, they will."

Blaine "Ready To Get Back To Solid Food"

Recovering illusionist David Blaine will be reintroduced to solid food today - four days after he emerged from his Perspex prison above the River Thames. Blaine - who spent 44 days surviving on water alone in the Above The Below stunt - is being monitored by doctors as he endures stomach cramps and low blood pressure after his ordeal. However, his medical team are happy with his progress and intend to start feeding him proper food again in the morning. In a statement they said, "Mr. Blaine is making a very satisfactory recovery."

Elliott Smith Dies

American singer/songwriter Elliott Smith has died, aged 34. Websites and radio stations have reported Smith died Tuesday, and although he official cause of death has yet to be released, but there have been unconfirmed reports of suicide. Elliot was nominated for an Academy Award for his song "Miss Misery" from the soundtrack of Good Will Hunting in 1997. Amazon.com hailed his second self-titled album, "One of the most understated and incredible albums to emerge from the indie-rock scene in the 1990s." He had released five albums, and was working on a new album called From A Basement On A Hill at the time of his death.

Chevy Chase's Cola Controversy

Chevy Chase has laughed off claims he behaved unpatriotically by filming a commercial for a Turkish soft drink during the war in Iraq. The Fletch star was criticized in the American media after shooting the TV advertisement, because at the time Turkey were refusing to allow the American military to use its airspace for the conflict - but Chase insists the controversy has no basis. He says, "I did a commercial out of nowhere for a cola in Turkey. They call it Cola Turka. I saw some article that implied I betrayed my country for having done it. But what do I know? I just filmed a commercial."

Lynch's $1 Billion Yogic Flying Peace Mission

Eccentric director David Lynch is trying to raise $1 billion to build a world wide network of Transcendental Meditation "peace palaces" for his guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The Mulholland Dr. film-maker has launched an appeal to create the "meditation Meccas" - including head-quarters in India which will be capable of housing 40,000 followers - in the hope of bringing peace to the world through the practice of mass "yogic flying". Lynch, like late Beatle star George Harrison, has been a devotee of the practice for years and believes the project can stop conflict in the world. He says, "He (Yogi) is teaching a way to go within and gain enlightenment. There's this beautiful ocean of bliss and consciousness that is able to be reached by any human being by diving within, which is really peaceful and harmonious and can be enlivened by the group process. This group is a peace-creating group. It saturates the atmosphere. This is all about establishing peace. Right now, we gotta get peace back in the world. Peace is a real thing."

Reagan Film Criticized

The makers of a new TV film about former American President Ronald Reagan and wife Nancy Reagan have rebuffed criticisms they have misrepresented the pair. The film - shown on the CBS network next month and starring James Brolin and Judy Davis - has been slammed for showing Reagan making statements he was never known to utter - leading his radio chat show host son Michael to allege, "Hollywood has been hijacked by the liberal left." In one scene when Nancy argues for more funds for AIDS victims, Reagan replies, "They that live in sin shall die in sin." Reagan biographer Lou Cannon responds, "He is not intolerant. He was a bit asleep at the switch, but it's not fair to have him say something he didn't." However, Elizabeth Egloff, who was responsible for the final version of the two-part film's script, says, "We know he ducked the issue over and over again, and we know she was the one who got him to deal with it. Biographies show Mr. Reagan had trouble squaring homosexuality with the Bible."
