Pitt Pumps Up
Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt
has disclosed the real reason behind his newly buff physique - hard work. The sexy Troy
star was furious when a British tabloid accused him of bulking up with the assistance of steroids, because it took such a lot of dedication to get in shape. His spokesperson Cindy Guagenti
says, "Brad has worked extremely hard for months to obtain his look for the film and continues to work with a trainer on location. His physique has been obtained without the use of steroids; he does not and would not, use steroids under any circumstances."
Owen Snubs Bond
James Bond contender Clive Owen
has snubbed the legendary franchise - by dismissing it as unchallenging. The British hunk is reported to be a frontrunner to replace departing 007 Pierce Brosnan
when he hands over the superspy role after the next film. However, Gosford Park
star Owen is nonplussed about the prospect of being the world's most famous hero - in fact, he doesn't want the job. According to British tabloid The Daily Express
, he told a pal, "I think it's too formulaic, too tried and tested and a little past it's sell by date. I would not consider it to be a challenge. I've just come back from Los Angeles where I had a meeting with Francis Ford Coppola
who wants to cast me in an exciting new project, which will be Bond-like but more challenging and relevant today. I'm really excited about it."
Whitney Houston Pregnant?
Troubled pop star Whitney Houston
is pregnant with her second child, according to multiple unconfirmed reports in the US. It is thought Houston fell pregnant on a recent inspiration-searching trip to Israel with her R'n'B husband Bobby Brown
. Speculation was first sparked following the pair's performance on music channel VH1's Divas Duets show last month - where viewers commented on the enlarged state of the singer's stomach. Houston, 39, has a history of alleged drug misuse and a turbulent relationship with Brown, 34 - who is the father of her 10-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. American's Fox News journalist Roger Friedman
comments, "She has been trying to have a baby for years. Let's hope that she will have a healthy pregnancy."
'Exorcist' Writer and Director Sue Studio
The author of The Exorcist
and the director of the classic 1973 movie have filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. - claiming the studio didn't do enough to make them money. William Peter Blatty
, who wrote the novel and screenplay, and director William Friedkin
, claim Warner Bros. breached its fiduciary duty by self-dealing the rights for a newer version of the film. They claim the studio would sell the rights to its sister cable television networks, TNT and TBS, for little to no profit. The studio claims it has no financial responsibility to the men, who were hired to perform a service and were paid for that service. "They received a specified percentage of the net profits," says Warner Bros lawyer David L Burg. Lawrence Iser, Blatty and Friedkin's lawyer, says when Warner wanted a new version of The Exorcist
, the studio asked them to return to work. The studio made hundreds of millions of dollars and made promises of profits to both men it didn't keep, Iser says. Blatty and Friedkin are seeking unspecified damages.
Dean Wanted To Quit Acting
Revered Hollywood legend James Dean
was planning to ditch his glittering acting career, when his life was cut tragically short in a 1955 car accident. The Rebel Without A Cause
hero told close pal and co-star Dennis Hopper
that he wanted to become a film director, as he couldn't stand being treated like a puppet. Apocalypse Now
actor Hopper recalls, "Jimmy was going to try directing. It was going be a movie called The Actor
, about being a movie star. Jimmy wanted to be in charge. He was going to stop acting in films and be a director, but he died before any of this could happen. We had pretty much seen the end of James Dean
on the screen, even if he had lived." Hopper continues, "He couldn't stand being interrupted every five seconds by some idiot behind the camera. He was too caught up in the role to be stopped abruptly and made to start again. He was going to do just one more acting part - as Rocky Graziano
in Somebody Up There Likes Me
- and then stop acting. That part ultimately went to Paul Newman
, after Jimmy died in the car wreck."
Depp's Golden Teeth
is sporting an impressive set of gold teeth - because he forgot to have them removed when filming wrapped on his new film Pirates Of The Caribbean
. The actor had the gold teeth added for his pirate role in the blockbuster movie, but he was so keen to get back to his home in Paris, France, when shooting finished, he dashed off without getting the choppers removed. He says, "I meant to have them taken off but I left Los Angeles immediately after I finished the film and I forgot to take them off. I'll have them taken off next week." He admits he wasn't too keen to return to a dentist - he had a painful root canal operation while he was filming the project.
Cruise Kiss Defies Split Rumours
Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise
poured scorn on reports he had split from Spanish girlfriend Penelope Cruz
with a public display of affection. The Last Samurai
actor made a rare public appearance with his Vanilla Sky
co-star in New York Thursday night at an awards ceremony. Cruise, who was honored for his work as a founding member of the Hollywood Education And Literacy Project, kissed his 29-year old lover, who smiled with delight. Recent reports suggested that the glamorous twosome had gone their separate ways.
Jolene's Jamaican Wedding Surprise
New TV Star Trek
Vulcan Jolene Blalock
was so convinced her boyfriend would agree to marry her, she arranged the ceremony for the day after she proposed to him. The romantic actress, who plays Subcommander T'pol in Enterprise
, married Michael Rapino at the end of April, while the couple were vacationing in Jamaica. And she admits she never doubted he'd agree to become her husband - even though others weren't quite so convinced her 24 hour engagement would work out. Blalock, who once dated actor Edward Furlong
, says, "Little did my husband know we were all planning a surprise wedding. Everyone knew - his family, my family, the hotel, the wedding planner, everyone but him. I proposed to him the evening before on both knees and he said yes. When I let him know that the ceremony was at 6.15 the next evening, he was like 'Oh.' The owner of the bungalow we were staying in kept coming up to me and saying, 'What if he says no?' I was like, 'What do you care, you still get your check.' He said, `Would you like a taxi standing by just in case?'"
Patrick Stewart: 'Star Trek' Is Over For Me
actor Patrick Stewart
has ruled out any chance of returning to the cult sci-fi franchise that made him a star. Patrick - known to millions as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the popular TV series and spin-off films - puts his decision down to the poor performance of the last Star Trek
movie at the box office. The 62-year-old actor says, "I have totally left Star Trek
behind. It finished when our last movie, Nemesis
, was not as successful as we'd all hoped. I think we're a little disappointed, we're a trifle bitter, because there are a group of us who think it's the best of the Star Trek
films." And Patrick confesses to being upset that his Trekkie career didn't finish with a bang. He says, "I'm not sad Star Trek
is over - I was ready for that - but I'm sad that it ended with a whimper, especially with a script that was extremely thoughtful, with such good performances all round."

British royal Prince William
had a surprise guest at his 21st birthday party Saturday night - an intruder who grabbed the mic as he made a speech to guests. The stage-invader made his way onstage as Wills - bare-chested and barefoot in just a loin cloth - was making a speech thanking dad Prince Charles
and grandma the Queen for organizing the do. And guests thought the eventful moments were part of the entertainment until it became obvious they were not planned at all. A source says, "Suddenly the man came up to the mic and took it away from William. Nobody did any thing because they seemed to think it was part of the entertainment. But it soon became horribly clear that it wasn't planned at all." Police and security guards arrested the intruder and escorted him away from the party at Windsor Castle, England at 10.30pm. Guests reveal that the man was shouting "you can see me next Monday" as he was taken away. The gatecrasher was questioned by police before being released.
