Bruce Jets Into Britain To Steal The Show

Bruce Willis is flying in the face of fears about air travel by jetting over to Britain for the premiere of his movie Bandits. Bruce will take center stage on November 15th at the screening of his latest blockbuster at the London Film Festival, where he'll be joined by director Barry Levinson and co-star Cate Blanchett. The 16-day event aims to give a snapshot of the best in world cinema, with premieres from 46 different countries. Stars expected at the festival include Robert Altman, Francis Ford Coppola, Kristin Scott Thomas, Kevin Spacey, Martin Sheen, Michael Caine and Helena Bonham Carter.

Cruise Slapped With Opponent's Legal Fees

Tom Cruise has been ordered to pay $27,900 in legal fees to a woman named in his $100 million defamation lawsuit against "erotic wrestler" Chad Slater. A Los Angeles judge decreed last week that Kristina Ann Kirstin, the ex-wife of Slater, be compensated for her costs in the tawdry case. Slater was sued by Cruise in May for allegedly spreading a false tale that he had an affair with the movie star. And although Slater actually denied having had any part in the scandal-mongering, an unsatisfied Cruise expanded his lawsuit in July to include Slater's ex-wife. The Hollywood player claims Kirstin tried to sell a fake story to American tabloid the National Enquirer saying her husband left her for Cruise. On Wednesday, however, Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz raised questions about the logic of Cruise's complaint against Kirstin. Included in the four-page amendment was a declaration from Slater saying he didn't know Cruise at all - supposedly meant to show that Kirstin fabricated her tale. But Judge Munoz said the statement seemed to contradict Cruise's complaint against Slater, explaining, "Plaintiff is blowing both hot and cold in this same proceeding. This [declaration from Slater] is the only evidence to indicate [Kirstin] knew the story was false when she sold it. Plaintiff cannot have it both ways." Cruise's lawyers say they plan to fight the order and will submit an amended complaint in the coming weeks to clarify their position.

Calista Piles On The Pounds

Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart has silenced the critics who said she was too skinny - by piling on the pounds and showing off a curvy new figure. TV bosses had become concerned when the wafer-thin star collapsed on the set of the hit TV series two years ago. But friends say that her relationship with Larry Sanders star Garry Shandling and being a mom to 10-month-old son Liam has settled her down. A friend of the sexy actress said, "Calista is a new woman - physically and mentally."

Mariah Carey Set To Glitter On Ally

Mariah Carey has shrugged off the box office failure of her movie debut in Glitter to book a guest appearance on Ally McBeal. In an episode to be aired on January 7th, the singer and actress will take a central role in a lawsuit filed by a woman, played by Jami Gertz, annoyed by a matchmaking service that refunds her money claiming she's "unmatchable". Carey will also perform her track Lead The Way, which is featured on the Glitter soundtrack. Carey's episode also marks the Ally debut of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, who's signed up for a multi-episode run on the Fox drama.

Cindy Shows Off Baby Girl

Stunning supermodel Cindy Crawford has been showing off her beautiful new baby girl Kaia. The 35-year-old supermodel gave birth at home a month ago and has now released the first photos of mother and baby together. The photos show Kaia - clad in angelic white - cradled in her proud mother's arms as they both sleep. Cindy says, "I'm so lucky and so thankful."

Jim Carrey's Weight Worries

Hollywood funnyman Jim Carrey got last minute nerves before appearing at Saturday's New York tribute concert for the victims and rescue workers of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the city. Jim had arranged for a New York firefighter to carry him onto the stage after being introduced by concert organiser Sir Paul McCartney. But Carrey had an attack of the nerves about the prospect of being hauled onto the stage by fireman Brian Duffy, and was heard saying to Duffy, "I'm 190 pounds. Do you think you can do it?" After Duffy assured him that despite being in the party spirit, he was up to the task, Carrey still wasn't convinced and approached former Beatle McCartney in his dressing room and told him, "I think that guy's sauced." In the end, the actor's nerves got the better of him and he made his stage entrance under his own power - telling a pal later, "I didn't want anyone to get hurt."

Tara Reid Gets Angry Over Handbags

Tara Reid lived up to her reputation for being difficult at a recent Hollywood bash. The American Pie 2 star joined a host of tinseltown celebrities at the Los Angeles one-year anniversary for the Sony Playstation 2 game console. But while most stars were happy to allow extra security checks that meant they handed over their handbags before entering the event, according to the New York Daily News, Tara moaned and groaned at the idea of having to abandon her purse. She even asked to speak with a manager at the ST. Regis Hotel, in a desperate attempt to get special treatment. And when this failed, she instructed her female companion to "Put your purse in mine," before waltzing off to join fellow celebs Courteney Cox Arquette and Thora Birch.

Erin Brockovich To Get Talk Show

Real life movie inspiration Erin Brockovich-Ellis is making a leap from the law court to the small screen after being handed her own talk show. The twice-divorced mother of three shot to fame seven years ago after helping a law firm win a record $333 million lawsuit against a utility company. Her story was then made into a blockbuster movie with Julia Roberts winning an Academy Award for her role as Brockovich. And now bosses at NBC have confirmed that the real life Erin is working on a pilot for a syndicated talk show to be shown early next year.

Jennifer Aniston In The Dark Over Friends Ending

Friends actress Jennifer Aniston is clueless as to how the hit American show will end. The beautiful star, who plays Rachel Greene in the long-running comedy, says the cast have recorded a false ending of the sitcom to keep everyone guessing. It is thought the latest season of Friends, currently being shown in America, will be the last. Jennifer told Britain's OK! magazine, "The night we shot the finale, we were handed the scripts at two o'clock in the morning. We shot a whole phoney ending, sent the audience home and then they didn't even let us know how it was going to end." She adds she'll still hang out with the cast of Friends when the sitcom ends. "We all love each other. I hope we stay friends for a very long time," she says.

Kidman Turns Down Clooney For Anthony Hopkins

It seems Nicole Kidman will do anything to avoid working with George Clooney. The Australian beauty was due to appear alongside the former ER star in his latest flick Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, but turned down the offer because she reportedly wanted to take a break from the bright lights of movie acting. But Nicole has already changed her mind, and is set to return to the studio. She has agreed to join Anthony Hopkins in The Human Stain. It will be a big step for Nicole. The Human Stain is about American racism, set against the backdrop of the 1998 Bill Clinton impeachment scandal.
