A group of Hollywood plastic surgeons says the ideals of male and female beauty are a Frankensteinian mish-mash of borrowed parts. This concept of perfection comes from the Beverly Hills Institute of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, based on nearly 1,000 patient consultations over the last year and the celebrity body parts the surgeons were asked to duplicate. Tops on the female popularity scale were Nicole Kidman's nose, Kim Basinger's lips, Winona Ryder's eyes, Jennifer Lopez's cheeks, Dandra Bullock's chin and Salma Hayek's body. Runners up in the body category were Elizabeth Hurley and Angelina Jolie, while Angelina came in 5th in lips. And on the scales of male vanity, men were requesting Rob Lowe's nose, Brad Pitt's lips, Harrison Ford's jawline, Tom Cruise's eyes, Johnny Depp's cheeks, and the surprise winner in the body category was Matthew McConaughey. Doctor Richard Fleming, the institute's co-director, says the features most requested are of stars who are the "flavor of the moment." But if you're dying for a combo of these ideals, Fleming says that major overhaul packages were starting as low as $35, 000.

Movie veteran James Garner has slammed his Hollywood peers who think it's acceptable to date young women. The 72-year-old Space Cowboys star, who has been married to wife Lois for 45 years, admits seeing old friends with 20-something girlfriends sickens him. He says, "I can't say I agree with those May to December romances, yet I see it happening all the time. It's not unusual for a 65-year-old producer or director to be dating a woman who is only 30. Even if I were single, I still couldn't see myself dating a younger woman. To me, it's embarrassing. There's no fool like an old fool, and these old goats don't even know how foolish they look. I feel sorry for them."

Russell Crowe's presence at Saturday night's Director's Guild Awards ceremony caused the venue to be awash with FBI agents and security on alert following kidnapping threats. The Federal Bureau Of Investigation made the unusual step of confirming there had been kidnap threats made towards Crowe last week to prevent further media speculation. But although the Gladiator star is refusing to let the threats affect his attendance at this year's glittering award ceremonies, he is having to take extra precautions to ensure he protects himself from danger. FBI agents were patrolling Los Angeles's Century Plaza Hotel, where the ceremony took place, and also the shopping centers that border it on two sides, on the look-out for suspicious characters or events. And an entire set of elevators was cut off from public use inside the hotel, so Crowe could arrive quietly, avoiding the press line- up. One insider insists, "I thought it was just a lot of hype but I've spoken to his friend and apparently it's true. There have been real death threats. They're taking it all very seriously." Crowe, who accepted the DGA nomination in place of director Ridley Scott agreed to pose for photographs but refused to talk to any press during the ceremony. DGA President Jack Shea says, "We take security very seriously, we always do, and we're sure everybody here will remain safe and sound tonight."

Chinese director Ang Lee scooped this year's Director's Guild Award for his hit movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. He beat out competition from Ridley Scott, Steven Soderbergh and Cameron Crowe to win the title. Lee, who looked visibly shocked to have beaten the big time Hollywood movie makers with his martial arts film, hopes this will open the door to more directors wanting to make movies away from the typical Tinseltown formula. He says, "Mainstream films have occupied Hollywood but you can get bored very easily. It can be very repetitive and I think now we want something fresh and something inspiring and different, daring. The mainstream film is very expensive to make and it scares people. It's made for the worldwide audience, you have to please so many people, and the business men start running the movies rather than artists. This is back to the oldest way of Hollywood filmmaking, creating a fantasy, but it has been lost. It seems to take a foreign language film to recoup that ultimate movie viewing experience."

The French woman accused of trespassing busty babe Pamela Anderson's Malibu home has pleaded not guilty. Christine Evelyn Roth, 27, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to a misdemeanour trespassing charge of "unauthorized entry of a dwelling". Malibu Superior Court Judge James A. Albracht ordered Roth held in lieu of $5, 000 bail. Roth, who has allegedly proclaimed her infatuation with the blonde former Baywatch actress, underwent a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation and is due back in court Thursday for a pretrial hearing. Although she was initially booked on suspicion of stalking, Roth, who was found sleeping in a guest bed in Anderson's house last week, was not charged with the more serious stalking count because she did not pose a serious threat. Deputy District Attorney Martin Herscovitz says, "I think she wanted to see Pamela Anderson, but there was no evidence she was there to hurt her or threaten her."

Curvy Jennifer Love Hewitt is a busy girl - she's romantically linked with her third leading man in a matter of days. Reports have claimed Jennifer had been dating Craig Bierko and Alec Baldwin. But the man currently holding the keys to Jennifer's heart is allegedly Patrick Wilson, who stars in the New York Broadway production of The Full Monty. According to The New York Post, a source saw Hewitt catching the show a few weeks ago and asking to go backstage to meet Wilson. The couple have been hanging out together since.

Screen legend Jack Nicholson is determined to shake off his womanizing image and insists he's just a big softie at heart. Jack is notorious in Hollywood for having a bevy of girlfriends and has to constantly put up with being labelled a brute. He says, "The biggest misconception about me is that I'm angry and/or violent, but in reality I'm a pussy of a guy, a real sweetie."

American actress Lauren Holly has wed her third husband, a Canadian-born investment banker. Holly, ex-wife of comedian Jim Carrey (who is Canadian), married Toronto native Francis Greco during a ceremony on Saturday at Toronto, Canada's Holy Rosary church. Before her 1996-97 marriage to Carrey, Holly was married to actor Anthony Quinn's son Danny from 1991-93.

Filing for divorce has allowed Tom Cruise to become even more obsessive about his work - and director Cameron Crowe is delighted. Cruise, who filed for divorce from wife Nicole Kidman last month, has thrown himself into his work in an attempt to dodge the massive media interest in his personal life. And Crowe, who worked with Cruise in the hugely popular movie Jerry Maguire admits that this disaster in Tom's private life is proving very useful on the set of his new film Vanilla Sky. He says, "I say to Tom, 'Do you have one more in you?' and he'll say, 'I have a thousand more in me, I'll go all night long' and he will. He'll do anything to make sure I'm happy, I'm getting used to this."

Spurned actor Dennis Quaid has been making the most of his single life since his split with Meg Ryan - by dining with a sexy trio of blondes. According to reports, the Traffic actor - who was ditched by Meg last year for her doomed relationship with Russell Crowe - was at the Ago restaurant in West Hollywood with two pals, when three blonde women caught his eye. A source says, "He immediately bolted from his pals and sat down with the bombshells. He even had the waiter deliver his food to their table." The actor's abandoned friends finished their meal and left - but Dennis made it up to his friends by paying the bill.
