Attenborough Slams Snatch

Film maker SIR Richard Attenborough has slammed Guy Ritchie's film Snatch (2000) - calling it "commercial cr*p". Attenborough says Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) was an acceptable movie in his eyes, but the sequel was just an excuse for gratuitous sex and violence. The legendary director says, "I don't want to make a film like Snatch. I'll except Two Barrels, or whatever it was called because that was the first. But to do that crap again for purely commercial reasons, to succumb to the pornography of violence because it is a prerequisite for commercial success, that I want no part of. Violence on screen is much worse than sex. It makes us lose the capacity to be shocked or moved. I don't want to be guilty of that."

That's something I could relate to in my film, The Perfect Storm (2000)."

Guy's Mark Of Doubt

L.A. Confidential (1997) star Guy Pearce has held back from getting a tattoo - for the sake of his acting. The Australian actor decided against the idea, after realizing that he'd just spend his time covering them up for his roles in films. He says, "The practical side of my mind takes over. I remind myself that I'm going to have to keep covering them up for the different roles I take on. Also I wouldn't be able to decide what I'd want."
