Millions of Americans will tune in Monday to watch the premiere episode of the 13th season of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” where 31-year-old attorney Rachel Lindsay will cross-examine a new crop of suitors. More importantly, Lindsay is the first African-American lead in all 21 seasons of “The Bachelor” and 12 seasons of “The Bachelorette.” Plenty of the show’s fans think the casting is long overdue. And Ken Fuchs, who has directed every season of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” agrees. “It’s really about time,” he told TheWrap. “We’re really pleased, we’re really happy — and it’s going to be controversial. »

Oliver Stone to Direct ‘Guantanamo’ TV Series for Weinstein Company

Weinstein Television announced Monday that it has acquired rights to dramatic series “Guantanamo,” which marks Oliver Stone’s first foray into scripted television. Stone is known for tackling controversial subjects: He directed the film “Snowden,” and recently the documentary “The Putin Interviews,” which premieres on Showtime in June. He will direct all of season one, per Weinstein Television. “Guantanamo” will tell the stories of the prison from multiple perspectives — from prisoners to soldiers, lawyers to journalists. The Guantanamo Bay detention camp was opened after the September 11 attacks to interrogate and detain suspects in the war on terror, and has since been a focal. »
