‘The Originals’ to Conclude After 5 Seasons on The CW
The CW’s “The Originals” will come to an end after five seasons, showrunner Julie Plec announced on Twitter on Thursday. “It’s both a gift and a burden to be able to control the ending of a series,” Plec wrote. “Many shows are not lucky enough to have a hand in deciding when the end has come. Being able to celebrate the completion of ‘The Vampire Diairies’ was a joyful and deeply emotional ride, a luxury gifted by Mark Pedowitz at The CW and Peter Roth at Wbtv, who, as TV fans themselves, know what it means when a fan is. »

Ryan Seacrest to Host ABC’s ‘American Idol’
Ryan Seacrest will reprise his role as “American Idol” host on the upcoming ABC revival, Kelly Ripa revealed Thursday morning on the duo’s syndicated daytime talker, “Live.” Seacrest will stay aboard their daily Disney-abc production in New York City, where they built the guy his own radio studio just to continue broadcasting “On Air With Ryan Seacrest.”
The busiest man in show-business has hosted “Idol” since its 2002 inception on Fox. Back in Season 1, the radio personality split the duties with stand-up comedian Brian Dunkleman.

‘Walking Dead’ Sets Season 8 Premiere Date, Releases Key Art
“The Walking Dead” Season 8 premiere date and key art (below) was released by AMC on Wednesday.
Season 8 will officially premiere on Oct. 22 on AMC, with the premiere also happening to be the series’ 100th episode. The art, released ahead of the show’s annual panel at San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H, features Rick staring down Negan. In the Season 7 finale, the stage was set for the Alexandria-Hilltop-Kingdom coalition to square off against Negan and The Saviors.
Production on Season 8 was briefly shut down last week following an on-set accident Wednesday that led to the death of stuntman John Bernecker.
Berecker was filming a scene with series regular Austin Amelio that required him to fall approximately 22 feet off of a balcony onto a safety cushion below. The CW series “The Originals” will end after its upcoming fifth season.
Showrunner Julie Plec made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday ahead of the series’ San Diego Comic-Con panel later this week. Plec said it was only fitting to make the announcement one year after announcing the end of the series’ parent program, “The Vampire Diaries.”
“It’s both a gift and a burden to be able to control the ending of a series,” Plec wrote. “Many shows are not lucky enough to have a hand in deciding when the end has come.” Read her full statement below.

‘Fahrenheit 451’ First Look: Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon Set Fire to the Future
Ramin Bahrani has become an indie staple after acclaimed efforts such as “Chop Shop,” “Man Push Cart,” and “99 Homes,” but his most high profile release might just be the upcoming HBO film adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451.”
The television film marks the second collaboration between the director and Michael Shannon. The actor earned rave reviews for his supporting turn in “99 Homes” and was even a dark horse for a Best Supporting Actor nomination. Michael B. Jordan plays the lead Montag, a young fireman in a dystopian future where media is an opiate and books are banned and burned. Montag battles his mentor Beatty (Shannon) in a fight to regain his humanity. Laura Harrier, Sophia Boutella and Lilly Singh co-star.

All eyes are once again on O.J. Simpson.
The 70-year-old former football player’s parole hearing is currently underway. It was expected to run anywhere from 15-20 minutes, but has already crossed the one-hour mark.
Simpson has served over eight years of a 33-year sentence in a Nevada prison after being convicted of armed robbery and assault following a 2007 Las Vegas incident. If granted parole, he could be out as early as this October.
ABC, NBC, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Hln, and Espn are all airing the parole hearing in full. CBS will preempt their daytime coverage to air a portion of the hearing, but will stream the complete meeting online.

Dick Van Dyke to Receive Britannia Award From BAFTA Los Angeles
Dick Van Dyke will receive this year’s Britannia Award for excellence in television from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles.
This year’s event will take place on Oct. 27 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Referring to his role in “Mary Poppins,” Van Dyke said, “I appreciate this opportunity to apologize to the members of BAFTA for inflicting on them the most atrocious Cockney accent in the history of cinema.”
