'So You Think You Can Dance': Season 9 promises 2 winners and more Jesse Tyler Ferguson

23 May 2012 4:54 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"So You Think You Can Dance" fans won't be surprised to learn that, yet again, the Nigel Lythgoe-run passion project is changing the game on its dancing contestants. For the first time, two winners will be named at the end of Season 9 -- one male and one female.

The bad news for "Sytycd" fans: Fox cut the results show, so there will only be one dose each week.

How will that affect viewer voting? As Zap2it previously reported, ouples at risk after a prior week's performance will be asked to perform solo routines the next week then the judges will decide who is eliminated.

The good news: Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family") will be returning to the judge's table along with other guests, including Debbie Allen, Lil' C, Tyce Diorio and Adam Shankman. Host Cat Deeley, along with full-time judges Lythgoe and Mary Murphy will also be back for the summer. »

'Dancing With the Stars': Donald Driver has 'a great attitude' says Cheryl Burke

23 May 2012 4:36 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Donald Driver took the mirror ball trophy home in Season 14 of "DWTS" and third place pro Cheryl Burke says he's fantastic. Zap2it chatted with Burke right after the winners were announced, where she told us how she felt about his win.

"Football players have such a huge fan base," she says. "Donald, I even said it in the package, he hasn't peaked yet, and he really just went out there and did everything he could and has such a great attitude about the whole thing."

We asked her where partner William Levy was. It turns out his adorable little boy was crying. "That's why he's not here with me," she says. "He is consoling him, he was so hurt and just wanted daddy to win." The shot they showed of him on the screen was heartbreaking and when he appeared later in the ballroom, he was still in tears. »

NBC Universal covering the Olympics for 291 hours every day

23 May 2012 4:14 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The laws of time mean nothing to NBC Universal when it comes to covering the Summer Olympics.

NBC Sports says it will offer 5,535 hours of coverage of the London Olympics this summer (including live streaming of every event online), which works out to 291 hours per day. Or, if you'd prefer, 12.125 hours of (obviously overlapping) coverage for every hour of time during the July 27-Aug. 12 games (plus two days of early-round soccer matches before the opening ceremony).

NBC will, per usual, offer taped and packaged coverage in primetime and as well as increased coverage during daytime hours, starting at 10 a.m. Et/Pt on weekdays and earlier on weekends. Marquee sports like gymnastics, swimming and track and field will have their primary on-air home there, and Bob Costas will once again be the prime-time host.

Online, people will be able to stream every event in every sport live at NBCOlympics.com »

'Pan Am': Show may move to Amazon

23 May 2012 3:48 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

While "Pan Am" is now officially done at ABC, the show may take off again on the Internet.

Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures TV, the studio behind the period drama, has spoken with Amazon about picking up the series for its slate of original programming. The publication also reiterates what they recently reported, that Sony continues to explore other avenues, including cable, to revive the show.

While it never caught on in the U.S., "Pan Am" has done very well overseas. In fact, it recently won "Best Series" at the Rose d'Or TV awards, Europe's equivalent of the Emmys. And Sony would certainly like to capitalize on that interest. Amazon makes at least some sense because the site already offers episodes of the show's first season. That said, it doesn't exactly overlap with their previously-announced plans to focus on developing comedy and children's programming.

Mob Wives Chicago Supertrailer Released

Whenever there's a spin-off of a popular reality series, there's bound to be a lot of skepticism going in. It could very easily turn into a carbon copy of the original, casting specific archetypes rather than interesting people, so any spin-off worth its weight in spilled liquor has to keep the core of what made the original successful and make everything else their own. The just-released Mob Wives Chicago supertrailer hints that it may have done just that, against all odds.

Even though it's difficult to make a broad judgment about a series based on a four-minute clip, you do see both similarities and differences between Mob Wives Chicago and Mob Wives Original Flavor. The big hair, flashy fashion, and intimidating bravado of the original are all present in spades here, as well as the much talked about physical altercations to come. There won't be »

Mason Cook To Play Eddie Munster In NBC’s ‘Mockingbird Lane’ Pilot

23 May 2012 3:10 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Exclusive: Young actor Mason Cook (Spy Kids In 4D) is set to co-star opposite Eddie Izzard and Charity Wakefield in NBC’s Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane. The pilot, written by Bryan Fuller and to be directed by Bryan Singer, is described as a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein, and their “plain” cousin (Wakefield) — that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller’s ABC dramedy Pushing Daisies. Cook will play Eddie Munster, Lily and Herman’s only child, an earnest boy scout and budding werewolf. Horrified to learn the truth about himself, he refuses to eat meat and faces off against Grandpa (Izzard) at dinner. Cook has recurred on ABC’s The Middle and has roles in two upcoming movies: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, where he plays a younger version of the title character, played by Steve Carell »

'The Middle's' Neil Flynn remembers his first (and last) acting award

23 May 2012 3:00 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Zap2it: How did you become involved with improv?

Neil Flynn: I tried improv pretty late in the game and had been an actor for 10 years, and the idea of improvising scared me. In '92, I left Los Angeles because I wasn't making any headway here. I went back to Chicago. For whatever reason the time was right for me to give it a try. I went to Del Close's theater, the ImprovOlympic Theatre, and I gave it a try and took to it.

Zap2it: When did you know that you were an actor?

Neil Flynn: When I was still in school, probably in high school, and I had not really found my thing. And I did a play, and I really felt at home, and I won a little award for it, and which, by the way, I believe is the last award I won. »

Modern Family Season Finale Sneak Peeks: Cam, Mitchell and Haley All Have Big News to Share

It's the season finale of Modern Family tonight and three people have big news to share!

First, Cam and Mitchell have spent a lot of time this season trying to expand their small family by adopting another child.  Since the finale is titled "Baby on Board", we're going to assume that it finally happens for them.  They'll be bringing Gloria along as a translator, which leads us to believe that they'll be adopting from a Spanish-speaking mother.  Whatever the circumstances, we hope to see the newest Pritchett family member before the season is through.

Meanwhile, Haley has some big news of her own: she plans on moving in with Dylan after graduation.  How thrilled do you think Claire and Phil will be about this new development (hint: not thrilled).  But they are very happy »

Kate Gosselin shared Monday (May 21) on "Today" that her kids miss filming their TLC show, "Kate Plus 8," but could Kate be headed back to reality television solo?

According to HollywoodLife.com, Kate will be asked to return to ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" for its upcoming all-star season.

"They are going to ask Kate but hope they don't have to use her as the cast and crew hated her," a source says. "She would be a last resort."

Kate famously butted heads with her dancing partner, Tony Dovolani, during the show's 10th season.

"There was a a lot of therapy involved," Tony told Anderson Cooper of his experience dancing with the reality star.

Do you think Kate would be a good candidate for "Dancing with the Stars" all-stars?

Broadcast networks and studios continue to make tweaks to their newly picked-up series, changing and recasting some of the roles. NBC’s highest-profile new drama, J.J. Abrams-Eric Kripke’s Revolution, is reconceiving one character and phasing out another. The action drama follows a group of people struggling to survive in a world where all forms of energy have ceased to exist. Rescue Me alumna Roth, who was sought after this past season, played the role in the pilot after getting a straight offer. Meanwhile, the character played in the pilot by Anna Lise Phillips, a doctor, will no longer be regular. Phillips is expected to do several episodes to wrap the character’s storyline.
