Smash Preview: Bombshell Heads to Boston. Plus, Will Michael Return?

Rebecca Duvall has caused a lot of disruptions since she arrived on Smash.  Her recent friendship and comments to Karen caused the ingenue to fight with her live-in boyfriend, Dev.  And her constant "suggestions" for the musical have caused no end of anxiety for Julia and Tom.  Throw in her tardiness and lack of commitment and Derek is also annoyed with her.  But when Ivy sung as a shadow Marilyn in the most recent episode, Rebecca recognized her as a threat and found herself a new target.

In the next episode of Smash, the show moves to Boston to test the musical. Derek does an about-face when he finds himself drawn to Rebecca which, of course, causes a lot of problems for Ivy.  Karen is forced to examine her relationship when she reaches a critical juncture: choose between Dev and the musical. »

'Cougar Town': Jules and Grayson head back to therapy

24 April 2012 4:22 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The little surprise that is Grayson's daughter on "Cougar Town" continues to pay comedic dividends for the show Tuesday (April 24) -- because it sends him and Jules back to couples therapy.

The soon-to-be newlyweds (Courteney Cox and Josh Hopkins) land back on Dr. Mettler's (guest star Nicole Sullivan) couch after they have a little spat over commingling their finances and the cost of Tampa's Jill's upbringing. Jill's mom (Briga Heelan) doesn't quite get the therapy thing, but it's Ok. Jules does. More or less.

Also Tuesday, Ellie (Christa Miller) thinks she can drive a wedge between Andy (Ian Gomez) and Bobby (Brian Van Holt) when she notices Andy doesn't mock Bobby the way he does the rest of the gang. Can the bromance survive? And can Bobby survive being in the same room as little Stan?

You can find out in the clip below, and when "Cougar Town" airs at 8:30 p. »

Smash S01E12: "Publicity"

For me, part of the fun of watching television is thinking about the actual actors behind the characters, what they're thinking during a given scene, what fight they just had with the hairdresser, whether their trailers smell like drugs or if their parents DVR the show. Which is a huge part of why I love Smash.it really invites that kind of thinking and takes it to a meta level. (Who would be better to play Marilyn.Katharine...  More >> »

Howard Johnson offers Don Drapers of the world a free night's stay

24 April 2012 2:27 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

On Sunday's (April 23) "Mad Men," Don Draper (Jon Hamm) was disappointed when the manager of a fictional upstate New York Howard Johnson motor lodge told him the pool was closed due to an "unfortunate incident with a kid." Now the hotel chain is saying it wants to make good with Draper by offering anyone named "Don Draper" a free night's stay.

Now through May 8th, reads a statement from the Wyndham Hotel Group, "Any traveler with the legal name Don Draper can book a free one-night stay this summer at one of the [eight] select Howard Johnson hotels throughout the U.S."

The hotels are located in Anaheim, Calif., San Diego, Mystic, Conn., Miami, Portland, Ore., Toms River, N.J., Rapid City, S.D. and Arlington, Texas. In other words, swank places where any self-respecting Don Draper would be happy to rest his weary head. And, we assume, use a fully-functional and sanitized pool. »

'The Lying Game': Season 2 is officially a go

24 April 2012 1:46 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

There's no immediate end to "The Lying Game" in sight.

ABC Family has picked up a second season of the show, which stars Alexandra Chando as separated-at-birth twins Emma and Sutton. Season 1 ended with the bombshell involving Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) -- which you can read about here but we won't spoil in case you're still catching up.

Fans can now breathe easy in knowing they'll get to see the fallout from that revelation. Production on Season 2 begins in the summer, with a premiere date in the winter (we're guessing January, around the time the second half of Season 1 got underway).

The pickup comes after "The Lying Game's" winter episodes improved significantly in the ratings compared to the first half of the season. The show's numbers among ABC Family's target audience of young women were up by 28 percent in the second half of the season.

Rhymes with Shmashmortion: 'Girls' Takes on the A-Word

24 April 2012 1:24 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

"Girls" has been generating so much furious discussion about portrayals of race and diversity on and behind the screen that what felt like it could have been a provocative topic when watching the first three episodes of the show all together at SXSW actually seems a lot more mild in comparison. "Vagina Panic," the second episode in the series, opens with a pair of (once again awkward) sex scenes before turning to the topic of where that activity can sometimes leave you -- with child. Jessa, played by Jemima Kirke, revealed herself to be pregnant at the end of the pilot, and in this one schedules, then quietly freaks out about and then avoids an abortion. The way the show approaches these decisions is both brave and a cop-out, in that Jessa ends up getting her period at the end of the episode -- problem solved without actually having to go through with the deed. »
