‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series

‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series
Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” is being eyed for an adaptation into a television series, Variety has confirmed.

Endeavor Content has purchased the film and television rights to the book, which goes inside the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency. It largely portrays Trump as unprepared for the enormity of his office, and that he is unable to focus his attention on policy details. The book also includes quotes from former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who referred to the 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer as “treasonous.” Bannon eventually resigned his position at Breitbart News over the furor caused by his statements.

The book proved to be an immediate best-seller and was sold out at bookstores in several major cities the day it was released.

No studio is currently attached to the project. Wolff will serve as an executive producer on the project with former

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW
Good news for the CW. It seems the network still hasn't exhausted its viewers' appetite for superhero shows.

Black Lightning joined the lineup on Tuesday night, making it the fifth comic book series on the network — seventh, if you're counting genre-divergent entries iZombie and Riverdale. The first hour pulled a strong 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers. Those numbers are quite sound by CW standards, especially when you consider the fact that lead-in The Flash, the CW's No. 1 series, only performed incrementally better. Black Lightning shared The Flash's score in the key demo and lost fewer...

Dylan Farrow Details Woody Allen Sexual Assault Claim in First TV Interview

Dylan Farrow Details Woody Allen Sexual Assault Claim in First TV Interview
In her first televised interview, the adopted daughter of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow described in graphic detail how Allen allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Speaking with CBS This Morning's Gayle King, Dylan Farrow also responded to claims that she was "brainwashed and coached" by her mother and began crying as she watched Allen deny the sexual assault claims in a 1992 interview with 60 Minutes.

Farrow explained how Allen took her into an attic crawlspace in her mother's Connecticut home and, as she said, instructed her to lie down on her stomach and play with a toy train. While she...

Telefonica’s Movistar + New Head Sergio Oslé on First Series Results, Cinema, Engaging Audiences (Exclusive)

Madrid — The office of Sergio Oslé, the new head of film and TV at Spain’s Telefonica, one of Europe’s biggest telecoms, sports a dazzling red-toned painting of a bowl of fruit. Otherwise the walls are bare.

“I must put something of my own up on the walls,” Oslé jokes. He might not have the time. A Stanford U alum and longtime McKinsey director, Oslé joined Telefonica on Nov. 1 as head of audiovisual and video Spain, just as Telefonica’s pay TV unit Movistar + , which he oversees, was seeing the first results from its first three original series, which mark the biggest bet on scripted content of any telco in Europe.

More than 80% of the series’ consumption is on-demand, Oslé said. So final numbers still have to come in. Results to date are on track, however, to place the trio in the top five of most-watched series ever on Movistar +, Spain’s by-far biggest pay TV

Film Review: ‘The Green Fog’

Film Review: ‘The Green Fog’
To close its 60th anniversary edition last spring, the San Francisco International Film Festival had the excellent idea of commissioning Guy Maddin (along with his “Forbidden Room” collaborators, siblings Evan and Galen Johnson) to make a San Francisco-centric feature. “The Green Fog” compiles bits from about 100 San Fran-set movies and TV shows into a quasi-narrative pastiche that ostensibly pays tribute to Hitchcock’s “Vertigo.” Only faint echoes of that classic can be detected here, but this ingenious gizmo will nonetheless delight Maddin fans, or anyone else who enjoys games played with and about old movies. “Green Fog” is making its regular theatrical debut with short runs at San Fran’s Roxie and New York’s IFC Center. The film’s short (62-minute) runtime is its principal hurdle to wider exposure.

While there’s only one fleeting, incidental actual shot from “Vertigo” here, “The Green Fog” is suffused with a very Hitchcockian sense of intrigue, romance and suspense

Korea’s Cj Orders up Merger of Media and Shopping Units

Cj E&M, South Korea’s largest film and TV group, is set to merge with Cj O Shopping, the Cj group’s home shopping and e-commerce business.

In an investor presentation, the two said that the new group, which would continue under the Cj O Shopping name, would combine strengths in merchandise and commerce (from Cj O Shopping) and content production and distribution (from Cj E&M).

Cj E&M spans market leading film production and distribution
