‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series

‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series
Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” is being eyed for an adaptation into a television series, Variety has confirmed.

Endeavor Content has purchased the film and television rights to the book, which goes inside the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency. It largely portrays Trump as unprepared for the enormity of his office, and that he is unable to focus his attention on policy details. The book also includes quotes from former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who referred to the 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer as “treasonous.” Bannon eventually resigned his position at Breitbart News over the furor caused by his statements.

The book proved to be an immediate best-seller and was sold out at bookstores in several major cities the day it was released.

No studio is currently attached to the project. Wolff will serve as an executive producer on the project with former

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW
Good news for the CW. It seems the network still hasn't exhausted its viewers' appetite for superhero shows.

Black Lightning joined the lineup on Tuesday night, making it the fifth comic book series on the network — seventh, if you're counting genre-divergent entries iZombie and Riverdale. The first hour pulled a strong 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers. Those numbers are quite sound by CW standards, especially when you consider the fact that lead-in The Flash, the CW's No. 1 series, only performed incrementally better. Black Lightning shared The Flash's score in the key demo and lost fewer...

Best Cinematography Oscar: Despite guild snubs, don’t count out Janusz Kaminski (‘The Post’), Edward Lachman (‘Wonderstruck’), Vittorio Storaro (‘Wonder Wheel’), or other favorites

This year, the American Society of Cinematographers nominated Roger Deakins (“Blade Runner 2049”), Bruno Delbonnel (“Darkest Hour”), Hoyte Van Hoytema (“Dunkirk”), Rachel Morrison (“Mudbound”), and Dan Laustsen (“The Shape of Water”) for Best Cinematography. While it would be easy to simply predict these five at the Oscars, it’s unwise to count out a number of prior nominees and first time contenders. There are plenty of […]

And then there’s the matter of that deal with Netflix.

But executive producer Betsy Beers tells Variety that it’s just business as usual for them, crediting the showrunners behind each of the series. Here, she discusses how they manage the ever-growing slate, what to expect of the upcoming series finale of “Scandal,” and what’s in store for Shondaland series at Netflix.

How are you balancing all of the series on your slate?

There’s an abundance right now, but everything really is at a different point. “Grey’s” is doing so incredibly well this year. [Showrunner] Krista [Vernoff
