‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series

‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series
Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” is being eyed for an adaptation into a television series, Variety has confirmed.

Endeavor Content has purchased the film and television rights to the book, which goes inside the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency. It largely portrays Trump as unprepared for the enormity of his office, and that he is unable to focus his attention on policy details. The book also includes quotes from former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who referred to the 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer as “treasonous.” Bannon eventually resigned his position at Breitbart News over the furor caused by his statements.

The book proved to be an immediate best-seller and was sold out at bookstores in several major cities the day it was released.

No studio is currently attached to the project. Wolff will serve as an executive producer on the project with former

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW
Good news for the CW. It seems the network still hasn't exhausted its viewers' appetite for superhero shows.

Black Lightning joined the lineup on Tuesday night, making it the fifth comic book series on the network — seventh, if you're counting genre-divergent entries iZombie and Riverdale. The first hour pulled a strong 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers. Those numbers are quite sound by CW standards, especially when you consider the fact that lead-in The Flash, the CW's No. 1 series, only performed incrementally better. Black Lightning shared The Flash's score in the key demo and lost fewer...

Brigitte Bardot Slams #MeToo Movement As ‘Hypocritical, Ridiculous’

Brigitte Bardot Slams #MeToo Movement As ‘Hypocritical, Ridiculous’
Legendary French actress Brigitte Bardot denounced the #MeToo movement and the increase in Hollywood figures denouncing sexual harassment in an interview with French magazine Paris Match.

In the interview, Bardot asserts that for actresses specifically, “not women in general,” “the vast majority of cases” are “hypocritical, ridiculous, without interest.”

The 83-year-old actress added that the topic takes away from “important themes that could be discussed,” and stated that she has never been a victim of sexual harassment. Bardot became an international sex symbol after her starring role in 1956’s “And God Made Woman.”

“I thought it was nice to be told that I was beautiful or that I had a nice little ass,” she said. “This kind of compliment is nice.”

She went on to say that actresses “come on” to producers to get roles, “and then, so they’ll be talked about, they say they were harassed.”

“In reality, rather than helping them,

Here Are Donald Trump’s ‘Fake News Awards’ ‘Winners’

  • The Wrap
After much fanfare on his Twitter feed, Donald Trump finally released his “Fake News Awards” — although it’s more a list of corrected stories than actual awards. Trump tweeted in early January that he was planning to announce his “Fake News Awards,” and that “Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media.” He pushed the release of the awards back to Jan. 17, but even White House officials didn’t seem to know if they would happen or what they would entail. The awards post went live Wednesday evening on Gop.com, but the ensuing traffic...

Why Andrea Riseborough Could Be the Breakout Star of Sundance

Why Andrea Riseborough Could Be the Breakout Star of Sundance
With four films debuting during the opening weekend of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Andrea Riseborough is bracing for a whirlwind trip to the mountains.

“I just looked at my schedule, and it’s completely bananas,” she told Variety on the eve of the festival. “I’m not going to be able to pee for three days.”

Over the past decade, Riseborough has built up an impressive resume of work in the likes of “Battle of the Sexes” and “W.E.” without ever becoming a household name. That may be changing. At the very least, this year’s Sundance will close with the actress’ profile significantly enhanced thanks to a buzzy set of performances.

There’s “The Death of Stalin,” a savage political satire from “Veep” creator Armando Iannucci, in which Riseborough plays Josef Stalin’s daughter. Then she stars opposite Nicolas Cage in “Mandy,” a gonzo thriller that combines romance, carnage, and supernatural creatures.

‘I Love Dick,’ ‘One Mississippi,’ ‘Jean-Claude Van Johnson’ Canceled by Amazon

Amazon has canceled three original series — “I Love Dick,” “One Mississippi,” and “Jean-Claude Van Johnson.” The move continues an aggressive shift by the digital giant away from the original-programming strategy championed by ousted Amazon Studios president Roy Price and toward a new approach mandated by company founder Jeff Bezos, who has called for bigger, broader series with the potential to perform well internationally.

Produced by FX Productions, “One Mississippi” starred co-creator Tig Notaro and was the most lauded of the three canceled shows. Its second season premiered in September. “I Love Dick,” from Jill Soloway, deputed in May, but did not receive the critical or national-media attention that Soloway’s groundbreaking Amazon original “Transparent” earned. “Jean-Claude Van Johnson,” a comedy starring the action-movie actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, premiered last month.

All three shows were developed under Price, who was fired last year following a sexual-harassment investigation. Prior to his dismissal, Price had been
