‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series

‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series
Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” is being eyed for an adaptation into a television series, Variety has confirmed.

Endeavor Content has purchased the film and television rights to the book, which goes inside the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency. It largely portrays Trump as unprepared for the enormity of his office, and that he is unable to focus his attention on policy details. The book also includes quotes from former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who referred to the 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer as “treasonous.” Bannon eventually resigned his position at Breitbart News over the furor caused by his statements.

The book proved to be an immediate best-seller and was sold out at bookstores in several major cities the day it was released.

No studio is currently attached to the project. Wolff will serve as an executive producer on the project with former

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW
Good news for the CW. It seems the network still hasn't exhausted its viewers' appetite for superhero shows.

Black Lightning joined the lineup on Tuesday night, making it the fifth comic book series on the network — seventh, if you're counting genre-divergent entries iZombie and Riverdale. The first hour pulled a strong 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers. Those numbers are quite sound by CW standards, especially when you consider the fact that lead-in The Flash, the CW's No. 1 series, only performed incrementally better. Black Lightning shared The Flash's score in the key demo and lost fewer...

Are Trump’s ‘Fake News Awards’ Actually Going to Happen?

  • The Wrap
Earlier this month, Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he would start the second year of his presidency much as he’d spent the first: by attacking the journalists and media networks covering him. Back on Jan. 2, Trump tweeted that about a week later, on Jan. 8, he’d be announcing “The Most Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards Of The Year.” He later changed the date to Jan. 17 — today. But after two full weeks, it really doesn’t seem like Trump’s “Fake News Awards” are actually ever going to happen. I will be announcing The Most Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards...

Greta Gerwig, Jordan Peele and Other Actors Who Direct: More Than Beginner’s Luck? (Guest Blog)
Among the best-reviewed films of 2017 were “Lady Bird” and “Get Out,” and both are first-time efforts directed by actors. Though shut out of the Golden Globes directing category, Greta Gerwig and Jordan Peele were both recognized by the more prestigious Directors Guild of America. Now, all eyes are on their chances for the upcoming Oscar nominations. “Of all the disciplines to cross over, actors have probably had the best track record,” producer and former Universal chief Tom Pollock said. And history tells us that performers-turned-directors do exceedingly well at awards time, most particularly with their early works. Robert Redford and...

Film

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role

It’s hard to imagine the guild passing on a legend like Gary Oldman, who disappears into the epic role of Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour.” If an upset is lurking, look to newcomer Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me by Your Name”).

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, basically. The lead actress contest has been the most competitive all year. Margot Robbie (“I, Tonya”) has the showiest work.
