How many acting Emmys has 'Mad Men' lost?

14 April 2012 4:38 PM, PDT | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

"Mad Men" may be way out in front to claim its fifth consecutive Emmy for Best Drama Series with 1/1 odds, but it's not all good news for this undefeated champ. Astonishingly, none of the show's performers have ever secured a victory in any of the acting Emmy races. That's quite an alarming statistic, especially when compared to the various acting triumphs of Emmy's other four-peat Drama Series ("Hill Street Blues," "L.A. Law" and "The West Wing") during their inaugural years on the air. How many times have "Mad Men" actors and actresses failed to secure a victory at the Emmys? Here's the year-by-year breakdown: 2008 Emmys (Season One) Lead Actor Jon Hamm ("The Wheel") Supporting Actor John Slattery ("Long Weekend") Guest Actor Robert Morse ("Nixon vs. Kennedy") Acting Losses = 3 2009 Emmys (Season Two) Lead Actor Jon Hamm ("The Mountain King") »

Aha! Here's that trademark Joss Whedon wit that seemed to have been missing from the action-packed trailers and photos of the upcoming Marvel superhero-orgy "The Avengers." In two new clips, we get to see Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) get sassy with the evil Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and, in a treat for fans, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) show her stuff.   In the first clip, above, Stark (Aka Iron Man) talks ups his new superhero team to Thor's evil half-brother, Loki. It's in this scene that Stark counters Loki's "We have an army" with the already-famous bon mot "we have a Hulk." AMC has had an impressive track record at the Emmys in recent years. "Mad Men" is the four-time reigning Best Drama Series champ. "Breaking Bad" has won three lead-acting trophies for star Bryan Cranston. And last year "The Killing" earned six nominations. Will the network's latest drama, the gritty western "Hell on Wheels," follow suit? "I've learned to just keep my head down and do my work," says star Anson Mount about the show's Emmy prospects. "In terms of nominations … I choose not to think about stuff like that. It takes up too many brain cells." Mount plays Cullen Bohannon, a former Confederate soldier enlisted in the construction of the transcontinental railroad following the Civil War. As he oversees the massive rail project, he also secretly hunts the Union soldiers who murdered his wife and son during the war. "I think it was really brave and more interesting for them to consi. »

Star Linus Roache, who plays one of the wealthy passengers on the ship, likened this four-hour revisit to 1912 as "event television." As he tells The Hollywood Reporter, unlike James Cameron's movie blockbuster, this small-screen journey will tell the story of the entire ship: "This was playing on the story of all the different lives and like a microcosm of our culture and of 1912."
