Despite bitter cold in much of the nation, moviegoers headed to their neighborhood theaters on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, substantially lifting grosses of the top films. Stomp the Yard continued to surprise analysts as it wound up with a four-day gross of $26.4 million. Night at the Museum also continued to perform solidly with a gross of $21.5 million over the four days. The Pursuit of Happyness came in third with $11 million, while Dreamgirls moved to fourth place with $10.2 million. Freedom Writers rounded out the top five with $8.8 million.
