Ray Rice Wins Appeal, Suspension Lifted, Union Says

New York - Ray Rice has won the appeal of his indefinite suspension by the NFL.

An arbitrator ruled Friday that his suspension should be vacated immediately. Former U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones said Commissioner Roger Goodell's decision in September to change Rice's original suspension from two games to indefinite was "arbitrary."

Jones was deciding whether the NFL overstepped its authority in modifying Rice's two-game suspension after video of the Baltimore Ravens running back punching his fiancee- now his wife, Janay - became public.

Rice was released by the Ravens when the video went public. Rice and the union claimed he was essentially sentenced twice.

News: Seth Rogan Blasts Ray Rice

In her decision, Jones wrote:

"Because Rice did not mislead the commissioner and because there were no new facts on which the commissioner could base his increased suspension, I find that the imposition of the indefinite suspension was arbitrary. I therefore »

The Best & Worst Thanksgiving Sides: Our Definitive List

26 November 2014 1:36 PM, PST

Turkey may get the nominal glory on Turkey Day, but we’re all about the sides (‘bout the sides, ‘bout the sides, no turkey — sing that last part like Meghan Trainer “All About That Bass”). Your side game needs to be on point if you want your Thanksgiving dinner to be a success.

So opt for the best sides and skip the worst:

Best: Pie. Is pie technically a side? Probably not. There’s another whole category of “desserts,” but if pie is considered a side, it is the best side. Pumpkin. Apple. French silk. Just make sure you have pie.

Best: Green Bean Casserole. So creamy! And with those little crispy things on top? Yaaas, green bean casserole. Yaaaaaas! Why does stuffing get all the attention on Thanksgiving? Green bean casserole is the true star.
