Watch the New Trailer for Carrie

4 April 2013 5:14 PM, PDT

The remake of Carrie was originally set open in theaters in March, but got pushed back to October 18th. We saw a handful of photos and the teaser trailer late last year, but get a much better look at the movie in the latest trailer from Sony.

“The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to »

Review: Stitches

4 April 2013 4:35 PM, PDT

It seems safe to assume that clowns became “scary” in the mid-1970s, when John Wayne Gacy, branded “The Killer Clown,” murdered at least 33 teenage boys and young men. 35-plus years later, director and co-writer Conor McMahon makes them funny again in Stitches, a horror-comedy about a grease-painted balloon folder who returns from the dead to exact revenge on the kids whose taunting inadvertently caused his death six years before.

Aiming for a gruesomely silly vibe that plays like equal parts American Pie and Evil Dead 2, Stitches preys on teenage foibles and clown clichés alike, offering mostly solid if not quite cult-classic-level fun.

Ross Noble plays Stitches, a drunken lout who dies in a bloody kitchen accident after kids at a birthday party decide they don’t like the performance he’s giving. Some six years later, birthday boy Tom (Tommy Knight) still cowers in fear at the prospect of seeing anyone in clown make-up, »

Roger Ebert Has Passed

4 April 2013 3:29 PM, PDT

After a long battle with cancer, Roger Ebert passed away earlier today at the age of 70. An inspiration to film critics around the world, Ebert was the movie reviewer at the Chicago Sun-Times for over 46 years. Many will remember watching him teaming up with Gene Siskel for “At The Movies,” while others checked in regularly to read his latest reviews on RobertEbert.com.

Even though he had part of his jaw removed in 2006, Roger Ebert was an inspiration to people everywhere when he fought for his health, didn’t hide from public eye, and continued to write on a regular basis.

We here at Daily Dead would like to say thank you to Roger Ebert for being an inspiration to us, as a film critic and as a person who continued to fight when many people would have given up hope. Our thoughts are with his friends and family, and »

The Walking Dead Season 4 Cast News

3 April 2013 6:03 PM, PDT

According to a new report, the first new character from The Walking Dead Season 4 may have been revealed. Continue reading to learn more about this character, and find out why we’re a bit skeptical. It’s also been announced that some of the Season 3 actors have been promoted to series regulars.

TVLine reported that AMC issued a casting call for a series regular role. The character name is Roy Stark, and they are looking for an actor in his 30s to mid-40s. According to the call sheet, the character is described as a “former army medic who is deeply haunted by his past — pre- and post-zombie apocalypse. As a result, he’s a bit of a loner, although he maintains a charming/self-deprecating/confident public face.”

We have no doubt that the TVLine report is legitimate, but it’s very likely that the casting call details are fake on purpose. »

When we’re ready to talk about the Doom 4 Id is making, we will let folks know.”
