Not sure if I mentioned that. I enjoy offering no suspense and no build. And Id be remiss if I didnt express my deep love for long walks down dimly lit hallways. Call me. »

1 May 2015 5:35 AM, PDT

Gareth Edwards Monsters was an epic film about a war between man and terrifying creature. Well on the surface it was. Once viewers peeled back the hyperbolic veneer they discovered it was really about love and humanity. And it worked like a charm the film is absolutely amazing. Amazing enough to warrant the release of a sequel Monsters Dark Continent. Can the followup live up to the amazingly high standard Edwards set in 2010 Well find out very soon »

The Walking Deceased (2015) Review

29 April 2015 6:04 PM, PDT

Film parodies come in three different types. There are the absolute classics like the Airplanes and The Naked Guns (and apparently most everything from the Zucker brothers) with gems like Spaceballs Galaxy Quest and This is Spinal Tap rounding out the very best in this niche genre. Then there are the okayaverage films like the Scary Movie franchise and the Hot Shots films. And then there are the lower forms. Theyre not complete garbage but they dont quite make the most of their ripe source material. The Walking Deceased wins a spot in this last category. »

Devil May Call (2015) Review

29 April 2015 12:39 PM, PDT

Basic cinematography and a generally simple visual approach can be called weaknesses as can a lack of savagery and gore but those arent large enough deterrents to bypass a recommendation. Devil May Call is an indie flick with a pulse. There are fiscal limitations at work and as already noted there isnt too much to draw audiences in with regard to star power but Manes inclusion should stir the curiosity of hardcores and the appearance from Traci Lords should spark nostalgia of one sort or another (most of you know what I mean). »

The truth is a sequel to The Goonies sounds like a backfire waiting to happen. There are some films that just dont need to be toyed with. Once is not only good enough its actually perfect. Thats The Goonies. No need to fix what isnt broken. As for a Gremlins remake well that feels like fair game. Weve already seen an enjoyable sequel why not keep the franchise expanding and open a welcoming door to younger audiences »

Trailer The Ratpocalypse Isnt Just Deadly Its Preposterous

27 April 2015 4:07 PM, PDT

Now along comes Ratpocalypse a flick just as ludicrous as Zombeaver. Unlike Zombeavers this one features a familiar face or two. While Zombeavers boasted a practical effects heavy approach Ratpocalypse is heavy on the CGI which in this instance seems oddly appropriate. Theres also a pretty grand conflict here whereas the aforementioned Canadian production kept the troubles confined to a small rural region. There are differences but the lunacy of both films is downright remarkable. »

Suicide Squad was a villain driven vehicle for DC that debuted back in the 1950s before making a comeback in the 80s and eventually being respawned yet again in the last 20 years. Something of an underrated commodity the book was surprisingly gratifying as it featured a slew of notable baddies like Harley Quinn Deadshot and Captain Boomerang performing heinous acts that often ventured in quite risque territory. In short its a good series. And now its headed to the big screen. »
