Hold on to your butts, because film vet Samuel L. Jackson has signed on for his first TV-starring role, in an adaptation of the Thomas Perry novel The Old Man, our sister site Deadline reports.

Jackson will play Dan Chase, a former Army intelligence officer who has been on the run for 35 years after a botched operation in Libya. Thinking he is safe at his home in Vermont, Chase learns that trouble always has a way of catching up to you.

UnREAL Renewed for Season 4

At this point, UnREAL is well on its way to being Everlasting: Lifetime has renewed the dramedy for a fourth season, the cable network announced Friday.

Ratings: The Night Shift Hits Season Highs, Network Stars Go Low

NBC’s The Night Shift this Thursday drew 4.45 million total viewers and a 0.8 demo rating, ticking up on both counts to mark season highs.

Opening the Peacock’s night, Hollywood Game Night (3.9 mil/0.9) rose a tenth while The Wall (4.8 mil/1.0) dipped a tenth.

Elementary has tapped Dexter vet Desmond Harrington to join the CBS drama’s sixth season, TVLine has learned. He’ll play Michael, an addict in recovery who once found the inspiration to stay sober from Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller). Michael now offers to return the favor and be an ongoing line of support to Sherlock, as the new season finds Holmes in a time of need.
