Joey King Has a Secret Handshake With Channing Tatum and It's Called 'The Chanshake'
27 June 2013 12:00 PM, PDT
Joey King is living every girl's dream.
The 13-year-old plays Channing Tatum's teenage daughter in this week's "White House Down", which, of course, meant spending a ton of time with Magic Mike himself.
King, whose credits include "Ramona and Beezus" and "Oz the Great and Powerful," revealed what it was like to star opposite the heartthrob and new dad at the "White House Down" press junket in Washington, D.C.
"He's just a playful, fun person," she said. "He was so awesome to get to work with." However, their father-daughter dynamic wasn't limited to on-camera scenes. "We bonded on set a lot, we really hit it off. We have this handshake, called 'The Chan-shake' actually… We got to do a lot of fun things together."
And about his real-life parenting skills? "Channing is the nicest guy, and I'm so happy for him. He's gonna make a great dad."

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' Flips the Coin for Julianne Moore?
27 June 2013 10:21 AM, PDT
Listen up, all ye news-hungry citizens of Panem: Alma Coin might just be in the house (er, District 13 bunker rather) at long last!
Yep, "The Hunger Games" franchise continues its tradition of reaping impressively credentialed talent for its supporting roles with the possible addition of Julianne Moore as that complex and ice-cold rebel leader for the two "Mockingjay" installments.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, talks are "early" for the four-time Oscar nominee to join at this time, but if they are successful, she'll step into the franchise for its biggest opening left ... a character which is meaty and, as her name indicates, a touch two-faced as well.
Readers will well know that Coin figures prominently into the final book of the trilogy, running a very tight underground ship of rebels just waiting for their opportunity to strike back at the Capitol after many dormant years and dethrone the ironically rose-fragranced »

Supercut: Every Question Ellen Page Asks In 'Inception'
27 June 2013 8:54 AM, PDT
If you left watching "Inception" scratching your head and wondering what your eyeballs just spent the last 148 minutes observing, you are not alone. Not only do millions of viewers feel the same way, one of the film's actors isn't even sure what's going on: Ellen Page.
Page, who plays grad student-cum-dream archictect Ariadne in the film (alongside va-va-voom hotties Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt), spends an awful lot of time asking questions. In fact, curiosity almost kills Page when dream residue knocks her right off her chair mid-question. So much for knowledge being power or whatever.
Funny or Die created a hilarious supercut of Page's inquisitive musings from the 2010 film, and we're left thinking she is the Nancy Drew of "Inception."
From simple "whys" to none-of-your-business accusations, no topic or question is off limits for Page. Check out this supercut, and take comfort in knowing that "Inception" is such a »

See Ya, Sandy! Cameron Diaz Is In For 'Annie'
27 June 2013 8:49 AM, PDT

Sandra Bullock might have abandoned her role in the "Annie" orphanage, but with this "Bad Teacher" coming in to sub it's gonna be one lovable tomorrow indeed, kids.
Deadline reports that Cameron Diaz has been wrangled in to star in Columbia Pictures' upcoming "Annie" remake as the sinfully sour Miss Hannigan, a character positively owned by the way-ahead-of-her-time Carol Burnett back in the '82 version.
Diaz adds to a rather fun little cast ensembled for the remake so far, including Quvenzhane Wallis as the curly-haired namesake of the film and Jamie Foxx as Big Daddy Warbucks Benjamin Stacks.
The choice is interesting because while Diaz has a resume full of being cute and sweet and doing this kind of stuff ...
... she also fell right into spitting out the ugly for her turn antagonizing a bunch of school children ...
... and she looks up to no good at all »

Channing Tatum Might Direct 'Magic Mike 2,'...With Steven Soderbergh's Help
27 June 2013 8:25 AM, PDT
Nobody quite expected "Magic Mike," last year's working class drama based loosely around star Channing Tatum's time as a male stripper, to be quite as unbelievably awesome as it was. But it really was amazing — a drama that informed the passing populace about a niche subculture in the same way "Saturday Night Fever" or "American Gigolo" did before it, directed beautifully by Steven Soderbergh and anchored by a performance that secured Tatum's place as one of America's greatest treasures, along with the Hoover Dam and the idea to combine chicken and waffles on one delicious plate.
While original director Steven Soderbergh is seeking (temporary, we hope) retirement, that doesn't mean plans aren't still running ahead on the sequel. Tatum, while talking up this week's explosi-o-rama "White House Down" with the Hollywood Reporter, discussed the possibility of him directing the sequel and what the plot would be.

Vin Diesel Plus Marvel Equals What?
27 June 2013 7:54 AM, PDT
Vin Diesel must give exactly zero effs about the definition of the term "secret" 'cause the uberjacked action star is developing a little history of shelling out critical deets way before he's supposed to.
In the latest instance of Mr. Muscles beating everyone else to the media punch, he's announced via his super viral Facebook page (seriously, he's like the number three most popular celeb or something) that he's just gotten himself a special meeting request from the folks at Marvel, thank you very much.
"Marvel has requested a meeting," he teased last night, "no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me."
What a tease.
Indeed, the speculation has been fast and furious ever since he dropped the little nugget, ranging from the most obvious guess — chiefly, that the studio could be interested in him for the villainous role of Thanos in their currently in-development Phase Two »

9 Actors Who Play the Same Character in Every Movie
27 June 2013 7:00 AM, PDT
Hang in Hollywood long enough, and you're bound to be typecast every now and then.
But for some actors, playing to type isn't just laziness or the final tremors of a fading career. Keeping their characters close to home is just what they do best, or at least what keeps the money flowing. And anyway, would you really want to see Jason Statham falling head-over-heels for Katherine Heigl in some lame romantic comedy? Neither would we.
Indeed, for some actors, staying in their comfort zone is really for the best. Here are nine of them.
1. Jason Statham The Character: Bald, badass protagonist who's not afraid to get his hands dirty.
The perpetually stone-faced Statham got his start starring in twinsie Guy Ritchie gangster movies "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch" and eventually elevated to full-on action stardom with the "Transporter" and "Crank" series. In every one of these »

Hot People Looking Hot: Channing Tatum Photos
26 June 2013 3:00 PM, PDT
View Gallery »
"White House Down" hits movie theaters this weekend, putting its star, Channing Tatum, right where we want him: Front and center.
This Roland Emmerich film turns the "Magic Mike" hunk into a bona fide action star, complete with a dirty white T-shirt that would certainly get Bruce Willis' approval. This marks the fourth time we've seen Tatum on the big screen in 2013, following "Side Effects," "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and, of course, "This Is the End." More Channing, more!

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Trailer Wish List: Here's What We Want to See
26 June 2013 2:11 PM, PDT
Pretty much the entire point of the first trailer for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," launched all the way back in April, was to remind everyone that (a) while it'd take 'em a full year and a half — tick tock indeed — to parachute drop this sequel to the hungry citizens of Panem, it would happen and (b) that even though director Gary Ross dropped it like it was hot, the transition to new director Francis Lawrence would be a Seam-less one, so to speak. (How do you like that for a lil tribute chuckle? Hungry for more? Okay, we'll stop.)
But we've been waiting long enough, and we have needs. Needs that will hopefully be met by the trailer that Lionsgate announced would debut next month at Comic-Con, complete with a Hall H panel with the stars in attendance.
While it was lovely and exciting and all hand-flaily and what have you, »

'Hell Baby' Trailer: 'Reno 911' Dudes > 'Scary Movie' Dudes
26 June 2013 1:48 PM, PDT
The horrible box office performance of the last "Scary Movie" hopefully put the nail in the coffin of those terrible parodies. Although Marlon Wayans, who abandoned that franchise a while back, did have an $18 million debut with "A Haunted House." Nevertheless, lest we think the horror parody premise is dead, Rob Corddry arrives fresh from zombie-rom-com "Warm Bodies" in "Hell Baby," from the folks who brought us "Reno 911!." So we have somewhat heavenly hopes for this thing, especially based on this trailer.
Corddry's buddy Rob Huebel (both are known from "Children's Hospital" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart") is part of the ensemble along with Paul Scheer, no stranger to fun-filled horror thanks to "Piranha 3D," Keegan Michael Key (of "Key and Peele"), Michael Ian Black and Riki Lindhome. Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, the writers behind "Night at the Museum" as well as "Reno," make their directorial debut. »

Take that, Doma! 'Independence Day 2' Will Feature Gay Character
26 June 2013 1:43 PM, PDT
Roland Emmerich sure loves blowing up the White House. He's also rubbing the destruction of "Doma" in the faces of patriotic homophobes everywhere in a really awesome (if unintentional) way.
"Independence Day" is one of the most "Team America: World Police" style movies ever, putting the U.S. President in the action years before W. landed on that aircraft carrier and making sure it was America who ultimately beat down the alien Earth invaders.
It also propelled Will Smith to superstardom (how could anyone have predicted "After Earth" back in 1996?) and gave us one of those badass, eccentric performances from Jeff Goldblum.
Emmerich, who is known for his activism for the Lgbt community, cast the openly gay Tony Award-winning Harvey Fierstein in a fairly central supporting role. Fierstein's Marty Gilbert character, though never explicitly identified as gay, has been criticized for being too stereotypical, but it's hard to ignore how »

'Thanks for Sharing' Trailer: Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow Are Sex Addicts
26 June 2013 12:57 PM, PDT
Considering how tight Tony Stark and Bruce Banner were by the end of "Marvel's The Avengers," Iron Man can't be psyched about the Hulk hooking up with Pepper Potts.
Wait, right, Marvel superheroes aren't real. These are actors.
Mark Ruffalo returns to his indie roots in "Thanks for Sharing," starring opposite Gwyneth Paltrow as a pair of sex addicts trying to figure out how to have a normal relationship.
The new trailer hosted by Yahoo! Movies tells us that the average person thinks about sex 15 times per day, whereas the average sex addict thinks about it 15 times per hour. People in recovery often joke about the "13th step," which is dating someone else in recovery (particularly a newbie). Paltrow's character is trying to avoid the 13th step, according to the movie's online description, 'though this trailer shows her going for it pretty hard with innuendo and kissing on a park bench. »

The Best & Worst Boston Accents in Movies
26 June 2013 11:00 AM, PDT
There's something about the Boston accent in cinema that forces actors to feel like they really have to nail it. Of course, there are movies set in other cities (Chicago or New York, for example) featuring normally straight-voiced actors straining to sound like they're from the area. But it's not as seemingly mandatory as it is with a Boston-set movie.
If a movie takes place in Boston — and an increasing amount of them do — it's apparently federal law for an actor to wind up and take a wild swing at their best McLaugh from Southie. Some knock it straight over the Monster, while others Buckner the chance and watch helplessly as Ray Knight frantically scores the winning run. (We'll have to wait and see about Friday's "The Heat.")
Let's take a look at the best of the best, and the wuhhhssst of the wuhhhhsst.* (*To be read with a terrible Boston accent. »

'Fast 7': Jason Statham Talks Villainous Role with MTV News
26 June 2013 9:51 AM, PDT
In an unedited interview with MTV News' Josh Horowitz, actor and professional ass-kicker Jason Statham discussed his upcoming projects ("Redemption", "Expendables 3"), potentially working with his dream directors (who doesn't love David Fincher?), and the last time he had a full head of hair ("1973, was it?").
However, what we're really interested in is Statham's post-credits appearance in this summer's "Fast & Furious 6", and what this means for the next installment of the franchise.
"I was going to be in 'Fast 6', and it just never worked out," he revealed. "It was a series of situations. Things just didn't come together in a way."
So what can audiences expect from "Fast 7"? "Lots of bald people," he joked, referring to himself and the film's star, Vin Diesel. "There's an outline of what I'll be doing. It's quite a strong outline. So we know what I'm going to be doing, but I »

'Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters' International Trailer: Monsters Run Rampant
26 June 2013 9:43 AM, PDT
Warning: Monster-sized Spoilers (And Monsters, Too) All Up In This Trailer
When the first trailer for "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" premiered in April, fans were a little puzzled. Where were the...ahem, monsters? In a title with the phrase "sea of monsters" in it, a vicious mammoth bull and a few shark fins didn't seem to make the cut.
However, monsters are abundant in the latest "Percy Jackson" trailer, hyping the sequel to the 2010 flick "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." In the new film, Percy (Logan Lerman) and his friends are just off the heels of saving Zeus' lightning bolt, but they don't have time to celebrate. When Camp Half-Blood is destroyed by Kronos, the King of the Titans, it is up to Percy and his team of bad-ass demigods to take care of business. They've got to retrieve the Golden Fleece (a very fancy coat, perhaps? »

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Adds One Millionth Cast Member
26 June 2013 9:23 AM, PDT
Given the seemingly endless parade of stars who have already signed on to appear in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," such as Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page and Anna Paquin among many, many others, you might think there's no room left for any new additions.
But you'd be wrong, because according to The Wrap director Bryan Singer has added yet another new mutant to the mix, this time in the form of up-and-coming Australian actor Josh Helman.
What, is the entire movie going to just be crowd scenes?
Still, we're kind of psyched that Helman is joining the mix. Not only is he the latest in a long line of terrific Aussie stars (see his work in "The Pacific" or the upcoming "Mad Max: Fury Road" if you don't believe us), it also gives us a chance to play the most exciting internet game of 2013: Guess the mutant. »

Henry Cavill Hopes 'Justice League' Movie Is 'Not Right Away'
26 June 2013 8:41 AM, PDT
Anyone who came out of Zack Snyder's hellzapoppin' new Superman reboot "Man of Steel" and said, "Man, I could really go for a Justice League movie right now!" Well, you're going to be saying that after a few more movies. In a new interview with the handsome leading man (of steel) Henry Cavill, he reiterates that the proposed "Justice League" movie, which would team Superman with The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Batman, would have to wait a little while.
In a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers, who goes on to ask Cavill about his childhood as a chubby kid (he calls him "Fat Cavill," his boyhood nickname, at the end of the interview) but not about working with Russell Crowe and Amy Adams, Cavill states that the "reality" of the DC Comics Universe, as established in Christopher Nolan's three Batman »

See Tween-Aged J. Law In a Long Lost Movie
26 June 2013 8:21 AM, PDT
If you're as obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence's movie history as we are, having even sloughed through "House At the End of the Street" for a show of sturdy-nerdy support (cough cough), then you'll be quite happy to know that all that attentive fandemonium is paying off. A dusty and long-forgotten early movie of hers has now been resurrected from its deep shelf grave just in time for "The Hunger Games" tributes the world over to get a peek at it before she returns to the big screen this fall.
Yep, J.Law's long-lost film "The Devil You Know," featuring Lena Olin and Rosamund Pike much more prominently than the then-future Oscar winner (who was just 15 at the time of filming), will finally receive an audience after a half dozen years in limbo.
"I'm really glad it's going to be able to be seen," director James Oakley said in last »

Johnny Depp Totes His Jack Sparrow Costume Around At All Times
26 June 2013 8:10 AM, PDT
We writer types cling to our laptops like they're some sort of bionic extra limbs during our travels — much to the chagrin of the poor Tsa clerks whose line we're holding up to scramble the suckers into their own little x-ray boxes, no doubt — so, is it sort of the same thing for a method-style actor to always keep his or her most prized costume within arm's reach?
For Johnny Depp, apparently, it is ... and not just because he's cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, either.
According to him, it's necessary that he has his infamously snazzy "Pirates of the Caribbean" Jack Sparrow suit at the ready wherever he goes 'cause he's hip to pop into the swashbuckler gear every now to surprise the "kiddies" (his word, not ours). With what, you ask? Yo ho ho and a bottle of ... milk? 99 bottles of formula on the wall?
