The Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson Offers Brief Status Update On His New Star Wars Trilogy

Rian Johnson has been entrusted with Lucasfilm’s fourth Star Wars trilogy.

Two weeks ago, the Powers That Be formally announced that Johnson, writer and director on The Last Jedi, would spearhead three brand new Star Wars films replete with new characters, an original story, and a whole new setting, which is to say that it’ll take place in a different pocket of that famous, far-away galaxy. How’s that for a blank canvas?

It is, in essence, the stuff dreams are made of, and we can’t imagine there are many filmmakers out there who would think twice about creating three totally original instalments in what is arguably the biggest franchise in entertainment. And though there are precious few details currently available – Rian Johnson is seemingly at the “very beginning” of the creative process – the filmmaker himself told YouTuber Kenna McHugh (via Screen Rant) that there is “just »

We Now Know Who Jude Law May Be Playing In Captain Marvel

Forget Dr. Watson and 221b Baker Street; former Sherlock Holmes star Jude Law is now in contention to play Doctor Walter Lawson (Aka Mar-Vell) opposite Brie Larson in the Captain Marvel movie.

News broke earlier this afternoon, when Variety revealed that Law had entered talks to join the 2019 spinoff. Should a deal place, he’ll play the film’s male lead alongside Larson and, presumably, Star Wars alum Ben Mendelsohn. That post has since been updated to include the most pertinent line of the lot: Jude Law’s character, Walter Lawson, will be the all-wise mentor for Carol Danvers as she begins to wrangle her superhuman powers under control.

Indeed, those familiar with Marvel Comics will know all too well that Doctor Walter Lawson originally held the title of Captain Marvel, though it’s unclear if that lore will be woven into the fabric of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s solo movie. »

Matt Smith’s Phillip Takes The Spotlight In New Trailer For The Crown Season 2

With its arrival on the streaming service just over two weeks away, Netflix’s promotion for The Crown season 2 is in full swing. Following on from the full-length trailer that dropped earlier this month, we’re now getting smaller teasers that hint at each of the major characters’ storylines. Last week it was Margaret’s turn, and this week, we’ve got a trailer dedicated to Matt Smith’s Prince Phillip.

The footage reveals that we’ll see Phillip’s childhood during World War II explored in the new season. Meanwhile, in the present day of the series, his marriage to Elizabeth will continue to be strained under the weight of the monarchy and Phillip’s urge to stretch his wings. However, it also makes clear the deep affection between the pair, with Phillip proclaiming that he knows his wife more than he knows himself.

Rumor: The Zack Snyder Cut Of Justice League Is “Much Longer” And Includes More Cameos

You didn’t think The Batman would be the only DC property mentioned in a 4chan leak now, did you?

Amid chatter that Matt Reeves’ solo movie will be a decade-spanning yarn that pits the Caped Crusader against Deathstroke, the masked vigilante to be played by Joe Manganiello, the rumor mill has churned out another speculative tidbit – only this time, the focus has been shifted back toward Justice League.

Now playing in theaters across the globe, Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s team-up movie has been dogged by mediocre reviews ever since its release on November 17th. It looks like things will only get worse before they get better though, what with analysts claiming Justice League will now limp miserably toward a $700 million box office tally, despite initial estimations projecting a billion-dollar home run for the suits at Warner Bros.

But there is an S-shaped light at the end of the tunnel – and no, »

Rumor: Deathstroke Still Involved In The Batman, But Lex Luthor Will Be Pulling The Strings

Is there another project in Hollywood that has attracted the same number of conflicting reports as The Batman?

Even before Matt Reeves signed on to direct, the mooted DC solo flick was dogged by countless rumors – rumors that have only intensified now that Justice League is out in the wild. The latest concerns Ben Affleck and, specifically, his future in the DC Extended Universe.

Despite going on record time and time again about his commitment to the role, recently there have been some tell-tale signs that Affleck’s time in the cape and cowl is coming to an end, with Reeves said to be eyeing up Jake Gyllenhaal as a potential replacement. If true, it would have massive ramifications for the Dceu, as Gyllenhaal would surely take point for the inevitable Justice League sequel.

But until we have some answers to those questions, Reddit has uncovered a new 4chan leak »

Scotland Yard Investigating New Sexual Assault Allegation Against Kevin Spacey

UK police are investigating new accusations of sexual harassment made against Kevin Spacey.

The alleged incident took place in 2005, when Spacey was still serving as artistic director of London’s Old Vic theater. This new allegation was brought to the attention of Scotland Yard mere days after the Old Vic posted results from its own internal investigation, confirming 20 personal testimonies of alleged inappropriate behavior. Neither Kevin Spacey nor his representatives have responded at press time.

Similar to the 2008 assault, this new claim alleges an assault took place on a man in Lambeth back in 2005, which is just a stone’s throw away from the Old Vic. Scotland Yard has since confirmed officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are looking into the complaint.

In its statement last week, the renown theater said it “truly apologizes” for not creating a safe, stable work environment:

We are now actively engaged »

Will X-Men: Dark Phoenix Kill Of One Of These Major Characters?

The latest mainline film in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, has now wrapped. Despite principal production having finished though, we still know surprisingly little about the movie. That being said, the title tells us quite a bit to start with, as Dark Phoenix will tackle the iconic comic book storyline of Jean Grey’s descent into darkness, and will hopefully prove to be a much more successful attempt than X-Men: The Last Stand

Now, thanks to a new report from That Hashtag Show, we might just know the exact incident that causes Sophie Turner’s telepathic mutant to turn to the dark side. Ths’ sources allege that Dark Phoenix will feature a sequence where Jean attempts to unleash her powers but fails to control them – killing a long-running character in the process. Though the report didn’t note who exactly will meet their maker, the character in question is »

These Nsfw Shorts Are Animated Love Letters To Elm Street And The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

It’s almost 2018, and neither Elm Street nor The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are in the best of shape.

The former was last rebooted back in 2010, when Samuel Bayer resurrected Freddy Krueger for a new generation and, well, let’s just say the end product struggled to leave much of an impression. Wes Craven’s horror masterclass is by no means finished, though, what with plans in place for a second reboot, one that will presumably begin to step out of the shadows in 2018.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, on the other hand, has been steadily pumping out one sequel after another ever since Tobe Hooper’s seminal classic introduced those blood-thirsty cannibals back in ’74. The latest incarnation, Leatherface, took things in a decidedly different direction, though Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury’s prequel will ultimately be remembered as an uninspired mess.

Thankfully, Bloody Disgusting has unearthed the perfect palette cleanser: a gory, »

Captain Marvel Reportedly Eyeing Jude Law For Male Lead

From young Dumbledore to 1990s Marvel?

That’s the latest scoop from Variety, which claims that Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) has opened talks to join Brie Larson as Captain Marvel‘s male lead. Negotiations are ongoing, though assuming a deal falls into place, Law will be rubbing shoulders with Star Wars alum Ben Mendelsohn, who has seemingly signed on to play the villain.

Details of his role are practically non-existent – ditto for Mendelsohn, though there are signs to suggest he’ll be spearheading the Skrulls come 2019 – but Variety notes that Jude Law’s potential character is best described as a mentor to the up-and-coming Carol Danvers.

Who is Danvers, exactly? She’s an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during a near-fatal accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight, so it’s »

Zack Snyder’s Cut Of Justice League Exists And Is Fully Complete

Ever since Justice League arrived in theaters last week, DC fans have lambasted Warner Bros. for altering Zack Snyder’s original vision of the movie beyond all recognition once he was forced to hand the baton over to Joss Whedon after a family tragedy. Some of the biggest complaints include the lean 2-hour runtime, which was allegedly implemented by the studio, the choppy editing and the score from Danny Elfman, which some feel didn’t fit with the Dceu’s tone.

Given this, many are clamouring for a Snyder cut of the film. In fact, at the time of writing, nearly 90,000 people have signed a fan-made petition that calls for WB to release a director’s cut of Justice League at some point. There’s still been no word from the studio on whether or not that will happen, but for those of you that supported the petition, it looks »

Avengers 4 To Whisk Captain America Back In Time?

Steve Rogers has always been known as the man out of time (and rightly so), but it looks like Marvel’s star-spangled patriot will be paying a visit to post-war America when Avengers 4 rolls around in 2018.

Filming on the Joe and Anthony Russo sequel has been taking place in Atlanta, which has fast become a hub for all things Marvel Studios, given the city recently hosted Ant-Man and the Wasp – incidentally, Captain Marvel is expected to swoop into production early next year there as well, when it’s believed that a number of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will cross over into Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s nascent spinoff.

The jury’s still out on that one, mind you, but we’re now learning that Avengers 4 may feature another flashback – this time, it’ll be all about Steve Rogers, as he returns home from the front lines of World War II. »

Arrowverse Midseason Finale Dates And Synopses Revealed

Even though we have what appears to be an awesome crossover in the form of “Crisis on Earth-x” to look forward to next week, the reality of the situation is that the bulk of whatever plots unfolding across each of the Arrowverse‘s individual shows will have to be put on hold for the time being. This doubly builds anticipation for their reprisals, especially when you consider the cliffhangers that both Supergirl and The Flash left us on this week.

Well, expect some major payoff throughout the first full week of December when The CW airs midseason finales for its DC TV shows. First on the block is Supergirl, which will see Samantha finally and reluctantly emerge as this year’s big bad, that being Reign, in the episode appropriately titled, um, “Reign.”

Rumor: Warner Bros. Removes Joss Whedon From Batgirl

As the fallout from Justice League continues, it’s clear that the Dceu is going to be a very different place moving forward. With the team-up pic failing to impress critics and not doing much at the box office, either, it seems that the folks over at the studio have gone back to the drawing board in an attempt to figure out what’s the best way to continue on with their burgeoning cinematic universe.

Currently, there hasn’t been any kind of official announcements, and though the franchise won’t crumble just because Justice League turned out to be a bit of a dud, there will be ramifications from all this and it seems that the studio’s upcoming Batgirl pic has lost its director. File this strictly under the rumor category for now, but Super Bros Movies reports that due to negative press surrounding his personal life, Warner Bros. »

Mark Ruffalo Reveals Two More Characters For Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel, Avengers 4, are set to be jam-packed affairs with every McU hero under the sun involved, but they’re still going to find room for numerous supporting characters as well. Everyone from popular picks like Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts to minor players like Cindy from Spider-Man: Homecoming are said to be included and now, a new interview with Mark Ruffalo may have confirmed a few more additions to the party.

While chatting on Michael Rapaport’s podcast I Am Rapaport, Ruffalo was asked to name some of the actors he’s worked with that he was most in awe of. A couple of his suggestions were Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett, whom he revealed he had “just worked with.” Considering that Ruffalo’s last projects were the two Avengers movies, which were filmed back-to-back, it’s not hard to connect the dots and »

Killer New Photo Of Joe Manganiello As Deathstroke Surfaces

For the longest time, Deathstroke was a rather obscure DC character. But, thanks in large part to Arrow, the world’s deadliest mercenary permeated the mainstream, with appearances in video games such as Batman: Arkham Origins and animated films like Son of Batman also doing wonders to help his cause.

Much to our delight, Slade Wilson’s future is looking brighter than ever now, as the character recently appeared in a post-credits scene for Justice League, in addition to Warner Bros. kicking around the idea for a solo film. As such, one can only hope that we see him fulfill his next contract before long.

In the meantime, a never-before-seen photo of Joe Manganiello in full Deathstroke regalia has surfaced thanks to Instagram user “Heroic.Gateway,” before later finding its way to Reddit. In it, we see him flanked by what appear to be extras from the aforementioned post-credits scene »

Chris Pratt Pets A Baby Dino In The First Footage From Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Owen Grady has a new raptor to contend with and this time, it’s a cute little baby. What could possibly go wrong?!

In honor of Thanksgiving Weekend, Colin Trevorrow has unveiled the first footage from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, in which Pratt’s swashbuckling dino expert gets up close and personal with his scaly new friend.

Clocking in at only six seconds, there are no tangible story clues to be found in Fallen Kingdom‘s first teaser, aside from the fact that Owen Grady hasn’t lost his affinity for velociraptors – you know, despite the whole ordeal of Jurassic World when Isla Nublar was almost reduced to rubble.

Perhaps more than anything else, this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it trailer is a nice precursor of what’s to come, given Universal plans to launch the first-look teaser for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom before the year’s end – likely alongside the release of »

Awesome Fan-Made Trailer Shows Us What Zack Snyder’s Justice League Cut Would Look Like

Even for those of us who enjoyed the cut of Justice League that was seen in theaters, it’s impossible to deny that it was very much the product of two directors, those being Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon. Furthermore, if you’re someone who’d been keeping up with the strange ballad that was this film’s production, you’re well aware of how it underwent three months of reshoots that significantly factored into the final product.

Actually, there are many of you out there who couldn’t help but notice how much of what Snyder shot wasn’t seen in cinemas, with word on the street saying there’s enough footage to warrant another movie. As such, fan demand in seeing Snyder’s cut has considerably risen, with cinematographer Fabian Wagner also sharing that sentiment.

Fortunately for us, Cinemand has put together a trailer of their own showcasing »

The Last Jedi’s Andy Serkis Hints At Snoke’s “Vulnerable” Side

There may be only four weeks standing between now and The Last Jedi‘s arrival – December 15th is the date for your diaries – but still, the origin and creation of Snoke remains firmly under wraps.

It’s all part of Rian Johnson’s masterplan to retain a sense of mystery around the First Order’s Supreme Leader, after the director stressed that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will reveal most, but not all of Snoke’s backstory.

Fast forward to now, and as part of EW’s ongoing Star Wars coverage, the outlet caught up with Andy Serkis to discuss his malevolent villain, who he described as a “terribly powerful, [yet] very vulnerable” character, one who harbors a deep-seated hatred of the Resistance for reasons unknown.

The thing about Snoke is that he is extremely strong with the Force, the dark side of the Force. He’s terribly powerful, of course. »

Catch A Glimpse Of Jodie Whittaker And Her Companion In New Doctor Who Set Pics

Incoming Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker has been pictured filming a nighttime scene with her new companion, Graham (The Chase‘s Bradley Walsh).

Said to be completely unrelated to next month’s Christmas Special, which will herald our first true look at Whittaker in action, the prying eyes of the Daily Mail managed to snap these photos in some unspecified wooded area, as the Doctor and Graham infiltrate an industrial factory.

It’s impossible to gauge the context of this scene based on a horde of unofficial set photos, but the Daily Mail’s report does suggest that a stand-in for the Tardis was just out of shot, which would explain why Whittaker’s protagonist is clutching on to an Asian (Japanese?) bag. Graham is also equipped with a pair of wire-cutters, so perhaps our dynamic duo are about to embark on a top-secret mission come 2018?

James Gunn Explains How Guardians Vol. 2 Impacted Avengers: Infinity War

It cannot be denied that the feat of creating a decade-long cohesive movie universe with the work of many individual filmmakers is a gargantuan and finely tuned endeavour. Whether you’re a Marvel fan or not – the vast technical achievement of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, at this point, a simple fact. One of the drawbacks of such a process, however, is the constant stream of speculation about the level of studio involvement and interference required to ensure the smooth transition of narrative between franchise instalments – and that speculation is never more apparent than when individual chapters are about to segue into a massive team-up story. Enter James Gunn, and his comments about Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Infinity War.

The reason for the speculation is that his Guardians sequel – released earlier this year – is one of three Marvel solo films that we know will feed almost »
