Buffy meets Star Wars as Sarah Michelle Gellar joins Star Wars Rebels

It's been announced that Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has been cast in a recurring role in Season 2 of the animated series Star Wars Rebels. Executive producer/supervising director Dave Filoni said, “We're thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season 2. She is a true 'Star Wars Rebels' fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions.”
Hopefully Sarah Michelle Gellar's character arc will last for many episodes, because selling the long-term emotional resonance of the title character's ongoing struggles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the key strengths of her iconic seven-year performance as Buffy Summers. And with all new Star Wars (from Star Wars Rebels onwards) said to be inter-connected in story terms, who knows what other instalments of the franchise the character could appear in?
