English band Stornoway let the natural world seep into group’s new album “Bonxie,” which premieres today on Speakeasy.
Named for an aggressive seabird also known as the great skua, “Bonxie” is a collection of 11 songs with a folk sensibility in the quietly catchy melodies, augmented with soaring arrangements and prismatic vocal harmonies. The tunes are interspersed with field recordings the band made of 20 species of birds, ocean waves and mountain streams.
