Elf and (Another) Doctor Join the Growing Cast for Damon Lindelof’s The Leftovers
6 hours ago
It’s CastingPalooza over at Damon Lindelof‘s drama pilot The Leftovers for HBO. We told you earlier today about casting for another pilot, that one to be run by Lindelof’s former Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse, but still, we’re always hesitant to talk too much about pilots. We’ve had our hearts broken too many times in the past by pilots that are never turned into series *cough* Locke & Key *cough* Mockingbird Lane *cough*.
Still, things are looking good for Cuse’s pilot, and with all the casting news lately, they’re looking similarly good for Lindelof. Joining the throng of actors who’ve signed up to be a Leftover are former elf Liv Tyler (the Lord of the Rings trilogy) and the Ninth Doctor, Christopher Eccleston. Yes, a Doctor for the Lindelof pilot, just as another Doctor has signed up for the Cuse pilot. Weird, right?

TV Spots for Marvel’S Avengers Assemble and Hulk And The Agents Of Smash Highlight the Differences
10 hours ago
Disney Xd has released TV spots for its two new Marvel-based animated series, and it’s pretty clear that they will be rather different from each other in tone, if not in animation styles. While many of us mourn the passing of The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, it’s time to check out the newest version of the assemblage:
TV Spot: Marvel’s Avengers Assemble – Coming July 7
And now for something (almost) completely different… While the Marvel’s Avengers Assemble marketing is heaving towards fans of the movie, you know they’re going for another thing entirely when the Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. spot starts out “What’s more fun than one Hulk? Five Hulks!” Let’s not forget, though that hulk features the voice of Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, Angel) as She-Hulk. So there’s that.

The Doctor Cast in Guillermo Del Toro Vampire FX Pilot The Strain
12 hours ago
The Doctor! Guillermo del Toro! Vampire pilot for FX! Who Wouldn’T be all over this story? We’ve actually already told you a little about the del Toro vampire pilot The Strain, based on the trilogy of books he co-authored with Chuck Hogan (Prince of Thieves). If picked up, the showrunner would be our beloved Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel).
So, as the headline blares, the newest cast member is (one of) the Doctor(s). This particular Doctor is the newest to us, though I suspect he’s one of the oldest. It’s John Hurt, reuniting with his Hellboy director del Toro. Hurt’s castmates in include Corey Stoll (The Bourne Legacy, Midnight in Paris), Mia Maestro (Nadia in Alias) and Kevin Durand (Keamy in Lost). Here’s the press release, which includes a synopsis of the show:

One of Your Favorite Marvel Characters That Won’t Make It to Avengers 2
14 hours ago
The Avengers movie was so much fun and I, for one, cannot wait for the sequel. We have quite a while to wait (May 1st, 2015) though. Director Joss Whedon has already stared dropping hints. After his personal confirmation of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch he may have dropped a little bombshell.
In an interview with the Empire Film Podcast, Joss Whedon announced that we wouldn’t have Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in Avengers 2. Commence your epic sad face. Here’s the excerpt from his interview that was mainly on his new movie Much Ado About Nothing.
Everyone is going to be looking for the Loki-Hulk smash moment and you’ll be looking for [a quim moment]. First of all, imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, Loki’s not there to say those terrible things. Although I do think we should bring the word back, »

Time for Your 6th Doctor Education on Doctor Who: Doctors Revisited
16 hours ago
Colin Baker, the 6th Doctor, does fall into my bottom 3 in Doctor ranking of Doctor Who Doctors But he is the only Doctor that I’ve had the good fortune to meet and get an autograph from. I was probably 7. He was very sweet and he said he liked my name so much he wanted to trade. This is the Doctor you could spot from a mile away in his patchwork coat. Tune in for his episode on Doctor Who: Doctors Revisited. Here’s the TV spot.
TV Spot: Doctor Who: Doctors Revisited – Colin Baker

Man of Steel Scribe David S Goyer Talks Justice League
18 hours ago
We reported on the 12th that the Man of Steel sequel was in the works along with plans for a Justice League movie, which begs the question, will Christian Bale come back as Batman? According to writer, David S. Goyer, we shouldn’t get our hopes up.
In an interview with Hey U Guys, David S. Goyer said that we would most likely see a new Batman rather than Christian Bale. Here’s the excerpt.
It would be disingenuous to say Warner Bros doesn’t hope that this would be the starting point for a shared universe. And Zack has said that Bruce Wayne exists in this universe. It would be a different Bruce Wayne from Chris’ [Nolan] Dark Knight trilogy, and it would be disingenuous to say that Zack and I haven’t had various conversations on set, around ‘what if’ and ‘moving forward’.
I have to admit that I »

Check Out the First TV Spot and Synopsis for the Final Season of Being Human on BBC America
17 June 2013 3:00 PM, PDT
We also call it Being Human UK, but the series to which we refer is the original Being Human series, the one we’ve been watching for four seasons on BBC America. The one that started out with vampire Mitchell, werewolf George, and ghost Annie, not Syfy’s Aidan, Josh, and Sally.
One by one we lost the original cast of the original show, so that now the threesome is made up of Hal, Tom, and Alex, and they have a nice, if different, chemistry. And as we’ve been telling you, the upcoming fifth season will be its last.
Here’s the TV spot for the upcoming season, followed by the synopsis:
TV Spot: Being Human UK – Explosive Final Season
BBC America’s supernatural series, Being Human, returns for its explosive final chapter this July. Concluding its five-season run, three unconventional housemates – Vampire Hal (Damien Molony), Werewolf Tom (Michael Socha, »

The casting news for Guardians of the Galaxy has been coming in fast and furious with a lot of great names attached to the movie including Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, and Michael Rooker. Who’s next you ask?
According to Deadline, John C. Reilly is not just in talks, but is in fact Confirmed to play Rhomann Dey, a Centurion in Nova Corps on planet Xander. Centurions are supposedly known for their ability to lift 20 tons, so I’m curious to see Reilly in this role!

Recap, TV Spot and Clip as the Plague Descends Upon Defiance
17 June 2013 11:00 AM, PDT
Just as we suspected. That nasty plague that’s taking over our pals in San Francisco – in Defiance the game, of course – has made its way to Defiance, the former St. Louis and home to the TV series. More about that below; first we have one of Alak Tarr’s wrapup of what’s going on in Defiance, aka a recap of last week’s episode:
Featurette: Defiance – Episode 108 Recap
Now, about that plague… It’s a plausible way to infuse the look and feel of zombies into the show and game. Once the infected person reaches stage four, the plague has ravaged the victim’s body enough to give that classic zombie look, which is at least half the fun.
Here’s a trailer for the game that gives more info:

TV Spot for Tonight’s New Teen Wolf Warns Death is Coming
17 June 2013 7:00 AM, PDT
Season 3 of Teen Wolf is off to a great start, and is even darker, edgier, and more intense than they were at this point in the first and second seasons. To those skeptics who still haven’t checked out this series: Yes, Teen Wolf. Yes, dark, edgy, and intense. Yes, very attractive people. But self indulgent, no. Whiny, no. Just a solid fun twisty great show that you should be watching.
If you already know and love the show – I expect you agree that No One Should Die. Unless it’s one of the new kids, someone from the Alpha pack. But none of Our Gang. Great, now I’m gonna worry.
Here’s a TV spot for tonight’s new episode:

What the heck is going on with Lydia now? Peter’s not possessing her any more, so… And how »

Never judge a book by its cover. It’s a phrase we use in day to day life as a metaphor for not judging the people we come in contact with, but I am begging you to not judge Collider by its horrible cover, like I did.
In fact when it came and I saw the cover, my stomach sank. I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to stomach something that held hands with that font. »
