Michael Douglas to play Ronald Reagan

Michael Douglas is in talks to play the 40th president of the United States. The 67-year-old actor, who played fictional Commander in Chief Andrew Shepard in 1995's The American President, is in talks for the role of Republican Ronald Reagan in the upcoming indie flick Reykjavik, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Reykjavik will follow Reagan's 1986 trip to the Icelandic capital where he and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met for peace talks following the infamous Chernobyl nuclear disaster. »

Great Expectations to close London Film Festival

This year's London Film Festival will close with the European premiere of a new adaptation of Great Expectations, directed by Mike Newell. The classic Charles Dickens novel has been adapted for the screen, both big and small, many times, but this one looks set to be rather special with a script from One Day author David Nicholls, and a cast that includes Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Haversham and Ralph Fiennes as Magwitch. New Batman will appear in Justice League movie first

A film about the Justice League of America (that's DC Comics' version of The Avengers to non-comic book fans) will also feature the first appearance of a rebooted Batman following the Dark Knight trilogy, and a Batman spin-off could follow, according to Batman-on-Film. The website has reported that a "solid as they come" source said: "a reboot will come after the Jl film, not before. Therefore, the new cinematic Batman will be introduced in the Jl film as opposed to a solo film. »
