Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender team up for 'MacBeth'

just now

"MacBeth" fans, rejoice, because two very exciting actors have been tapped to play MacBeth and Lady MacBeth in an upcoming adaptation of the classic Shakespeare place. It's being reported that Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman will star in the Justin Kurzel-directed film.

Screen Daily revealed the news about Fassbender, while The Hollywood Reporter learned about Portman's involvement. THR reports that the Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff-penned script is "billed as an updated version of Shakespeare's tale of revenge and ambition, complete with the blood and thunder of the original tragedy."

This isn't the first time Portman and Fassbender were slated to work together. Fassbender was originally tapped to star opposite the "Thor: The Dark World" star in her new movie "Jane Got a Gun," but passed when director Lynne Ramsay walked away. Jude Law later replaced him.

Production is slated to begin on "MacBeth" later in 2013. No release »

After debuting at CinemaCon, an annual convention for movie theater owners, the latest trailer for "The Wolverine" has appeared online and features quite a bit of new footage. Included in the trailer was the first real look at the film's antagonist, the Silver Samurai, though it's very brief.

Hugh Jackman, the only thread connecting the entire "X-Men" universe, returns again as the movie's title character. The Silver Samurai will be portrayed by Will Yun Lee. The character is a Japanese mutant with the power to charge nearly any object with mutant energy. He is most-known for his katana blade, which can cut through anything except adamantium, the metal fused to Wolverine's bones.

Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator has earned a bunch of heat for the third installment in a series of Mountain Dew ads he directed featuring a character named Felicia the Goat. The third of three commercials was released a week ago and has earned PepsiCo so much backlash for being racist that the company has pulled the video across the board and issued an apology.

"We apologize for this video and take full responsibility. We have removed it from all Mountain Dew channels and Tyler is removing it from his channels as well," Mountain Dew says in a statement. The video in question can be watched here.

The three-part storyline in the ads starts when a goat voiced by Tyler who attacks a waitress after a restaurant runs out of Mountain Dew. In the second video, Felicia the Goat evades a police officer who pulls him over for a "Dew-u-i, »

'Ender's Game': First look at Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham

"Ender's Game" is set to become the next novel-turned-blockbuster movie. The science fiction film centers around a boy named Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), as he goes through military training, preparing for war against an alien race.

He is trained by none other than Sir Ben Kingsley, in the role of Mazer Rackham. Entertainment Weekly released the first image of the heavily-tattooed Rackham, and spoke with Kingsley about the role. "In the script, which I think is beautifully written, what come across is the authority and mystery," he says says of the character, "There's quite a lot said about him in the story before you see him -- by the recruits and by his fellow officers -- and that's useful as far as preparations."

"Ender's Game" serves as a reunion for Kingsley and Butterfield, who starred together in Martin Scorsese's "Hugo." Other notable stars in the cast include Harrison Ford, »

'A Boy and His Atom': Ibm releases a stop motion movie animated by atoms

Ibm has released the world's smallest movie -- literally. By moving atoms around and taking snapshots of them, a team of researchers at Ibm made a minute-long stop motion short film animated only by the movement of atoms.

It shows a boy playing with an atom and, appropriately, is titled "A Boy and His Atom." The project currently holds the Guinness World Record for Smallest Stop Motion film.

"The ability to move single atoms -- the smallest particles of any element in the universe -- is crucial to Ibm's research in the field of atomic memory," the description for the movie reads. "But even nanophysicists need to have a little fun. In that spirit, Ibm researchers used a scanning tunneling microscope to move thousands of carbon monoxide molecules (two atoms stacked on top of each other), all in pursuit of making a movie so small it can be seen only »

Redskins name change: Washington Redtails proposed for NFL team

The Washington Redskins of the NFL have had the idea of a name change thrown around before. That discussion is starting again, after the mayor of Washington, D.C. said in January that a change might help to facilitate the team moving back into D.C. city limits.

A Washington, D.C. Council member is planning to propose a resolution to finally change the name, and even offered a new one. Council member David Grosso wants the "derogatory, racist" name gone for good, the Washington Post reports. The team started out in Boston in 1932, playing a season as the Braves, before becoming the Redskins. They moved to Washington, D.C. in 1937.

"It's been a long time that we've had this name associated with Washington, and I think its time we take a stand and change it," Grosso says. The resolution, which Grosso plans to formally introduce soon, includes a plea »

J.J. Abrams wants John Williams to score 'Star Wars: Episode VII' instead of Michael Giacchino

J.J. Abrams has a long working relationship with composer Michael Giacchino, but that will end temporarily when Abrams starts work on "Star Wars: Episode VII." The director has revealed that he expects original "Star Wars" composer John Williams will write the score for the upcoming movie.

"Michael Giacchino is an incredible composer, who I was lucky enough to begin working with on 'Alias,'" Abrams says at a press conference for "Star Trek Into Darkness" in Berlin. "He's truly one of the most influential members of our crew, and I think this ['Star Trek Into Darkness'] score, he really outdid himself. Again, for 'Star Wars,' it's very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was."

Abrams has worked with Giacchino on many of his projects, including "Alias," "Lost," "Star Trek," "Super 8," "Alcatraz," "Fringe" and "Star Trek Into Darkness. »

'Tyler Perry Presents Peeples' cast on working with Diahann Carroll

If there's one thing the cast and crew of the upcoming "Tyler Perry Presents Peeples" can agree was remarkable, it was the chance to work with acting icon Diahann Carroll. The movie centers around Craig Robinson's Wade Walker, as he tries to impress his girlfriend's (Kerry Washington) seemingly perfect family, the Peeples, by making a surprise appearance at their Hamptons home.

When it began to snow on day one of the production, first-time director Tina Gordon Chism was faced with difficulties she didn't expect, as they were scheduled to film outdoors. Luckily, those first scenes also featured Carroll. "Diahann Carroll, out of the blue, says 'I would like to make a speech,'" Chism says, "She made this speech about African-American imagery in Hollywood and how she was so proud to be in a comedy and to be able to play with the new generation of actors."

Jennifer Aniston delays her wedding because of Brad Pitt

"She does not want her day associated with them," a source tells Us Weekly. Apparently Aniston initially wanted to rush to get married first, but "Justin got weirded out by all the rushing."

Now there's no rushing at all, as Aniston has reportedly put wedding planning on hold. No word yet on when the new ceremony date could be, but the insider says this break could be good for Aniston's relationship with Theroux.

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult go out to dinner: Are they dating again?

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult might have split back in January after dating for two years, but the former couple has been in close quarters while filming their new movie "X-Men: Days of Future Past." It seems as though working together might have fanned the flames of passion once again as Lawrence and Hoult were spotted grabbing dinner together at The Little Door restaurant in Los Angeles.

"They arrived together," an onlooker tells People. Though Lawrence and Hoult weren't "openly affectionate," the source says "it looked like a date."

The reps for both actors have no comment, but then again Lawrence and Hoult would likely keep things low key if they were to become a couple once again. They managed to keep their relationship a secret for more than a year after meeting and falling in love on the set of 2011's "X-Men: First Class," so a reunion would likely be no different. »

Ex-Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash receives Daytime Emmy nomination

Kevin Clash resigned from "Sesame Street" back in November 2012 after working as the voice of Elmo for nearly 30 years after several accusers came forward with allegations of underage sex.

All accusers were male and their stories were similar to that of the fourth accuser, identified only as John Doe, who claims he and Clash met in Miami Beach in the mid-1990s, when the accuser was 16 and Clash was in his mid-30s.

The filing released by Doe's attorney claimed Clash invited him to New York, where Clash would be "a dad" to him and give him cash and a free place to stay. Doe alleges the two of them had sex multiple times.

At the time, Clash's attorney Michael Berger said in a statement, "The lawsuit is without merit and we will vigorously defend the case and Mr. Clash's reputation."

He has since been accused by a fifth person, »

Paul Ryan supports gay adoption: 'If a person wants to love and raise a child, they ought to be able to do that'

During a townhall meeting in Janesville, Wis., former vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan, who voted in 1999 against gay adoption in the District of Columbia, says he has softened his position on the matter, reports Wkow.

When an attendant at the meeting asked the congressman why he doesn't support gay marriage, he says marriage should be between a man and woman. But he says gay adoption is something that could benefit a lot of children.

"I do believe that if there are children who are orphans, who do not have a loving person or couple -- I think if a person wants to love and raise a child, they (sic) ought to be able to do that. Period. I would vote that way. I do believe marriage is between a man and a woman, we just respectfully disagree on that issue," says Ryan.

Is this perhaps the first step towards a presidential run? »

Nicole Richie goes for 'tramp stamp' removal by Dr. Will Kirby of 'Big Brother' fame

Nicole Richie has debuted her new AOL web series, titled "#CandidlyNicole." In the first episode, Richie says she's going to get her "tramp stamp" removed -- by "Big Brother" veteran "evil" Dr. Will Kirby, no less.

While in the waiting room, Richie makes friends with the other clients of "Dr. Tattoff," regaling them with the tale of the first tattoo she got -- the tattoo artist asked her friend to hold his gun while she got her tattoo.

Once in the exam room, Richie describes her tattoo as a cross "going down the crack" of her backside. Well, that's ... nifty.

The nurse describes the pain as being like when you fry bacon and the grease splatters on your arm. That doesn't sound too bad, actually, but Richie is interested in being put "completely under."

However, in the end, Richie doesn't end up getting her tattoo removed during this first webisode of her series. »
