The Latest on The Interview's Trouble Release

The Sony hack fallout continues to wreak havoc, but now it's not just about the latest email to be leaked. The movie at the heart of it all, The Interview, is suffering the consequences. The satirical comedy, which stars James Franco and Seth Rogen as an interviewer and his producer who are sent to murder reigning North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, was allegedly the reason hackers attacked Sony in the first place, and now, new threats have stopped the movie's release. While some theaters planned to show Team America: World Police in its place, Paramount Pictures has officially shut that down. Here's a rundown of the fallout in terms of the film. The hackers' latest threat talked about "a Christmas surprise" and 9/11. Earlier this week, the group who hacked into Sony, known as "Guardians of Peace," warned of a "Christmas surprise" and included the words, "The world will be full of fear. »

The Worst-Reviewed Movies of 2014

19 December 2014 4:06 PM, PST

Award season contenders, they ain't. Lots of movies fall flat every year, with some failing to make enough money to justify their production and others getting horrible reviews (which can often cause the crappy box office). We rounded up the movies that failed to even break 20 percent on the Tomatometer, Rotten Tomatoes' review aggregator, in 2014. Not all of these did so badly with audiences, though, and you never know - some of these movies could be appreciated in the future. How many of these did you see? »

Get Hard Trailer: Kevin Hart Prepping Will Ferrell For Prison Is Gold

19 December 2014 12:24 PM, PST

Aside from The Lego Movie, Will Ferrell has been largely missing from the big screen in 2014. Thankfully for fans, he'll reemerge opposite Kevin Hart in Get Hard on March 27. Ferrell plays James King, a millionaire who is sentenced to 10 years in prison for fraud. With a month left before he heads to San Quentin, he enlists the help of Darnell Lewis (Hart), a car wash employee to help him prep. Here's the catch: Darnell hasn't actually been to prison, nor is he very street smart. It's kind of impossible not to chuckle at the trailer, especially when Darnell sets up James's tennis court to be like the prison yard. Alison Brie and T.I. costar in the movie, and once you check out the trailer, take a look at all the other 2015 movie trailers. »

25 Times You Wanted to Be Kevin McCallister

19 December 2014 11:00 AM, PST

There are lots of holiday movies that we love because they make us feel warm and fuzzy, but we love Home Alone for different reasons. Sure, there is a warm-and-fuzzy ending, but the sheer enjoyment of this movie comes from everything Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) does when he's left alone. That extends to the sequel as well, when Kevin is left alone again in New York and proceeds to have the greatest time any abandoned child has ever had. So this holiday season, we give it up to Kevin, and we're recounting all the ways he fulfills our own childhood fantasies. »

Nick Offerman's Take on "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" Is Just So Real

19 December 2014 9:20 AM, PST

To kick off the one-week countdown to Christmas, Nick Offerman stopped by The Tonight Show on Thursday to share his own version of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas." As one might expect from Offerman, his take on the classic holiday story is a bit more straightforward. He describes the sleeping children, who were "dreaming of sugarplums and other random sh*t," later mentioning the fat old man who broke into their house. Watch his funny spin on the story above, then check out more must-see viral videos, plus the Parks and Recreation final season trailer! »

George Clooney Blasts Hollywood For Its Reaction to the Sony Cyberattack

19 December 2014 7:23 AM, PST

George Clooney is not happy about Hollywood's reaction to the Sony hack. The actor gave an impassioned interview with Deadline, sharing his feelings about the decision to cancel showings of The Interview and the backlash related to the Sony cyberattack: "You have someone threaten to blow up buildings, and all of a sudden everybody has to bow down. Sony didn't pull the movie because they were scared; they pulled the movie because all the theaters said they were not going to run it. And they said they were not going to run it because they talked to their lawyers, and those lawyers said if somebody dies in one of these, then you're going to be responsible." George's reaction comes after he circulated a petition asking studios to stand together in the wake of the attacks and was unable to recruit any top executives to sign. George stated that he feels »

Take an Emotional Journey Through Modern Film With These 4 Videos

18 December 2014 4:00 PM, PST

Not all movie retrospectives are created equal, but there is one young woman who has blown the competition out of the water (in my humble opinion) since 2010. Every December I eagerly anticipate Gen Ip's end-of-the-year movie mashups, in which she masterfully weaves together clips from 200 to 300 of the year's movie trailers into what can only be described as a cinematic masterpiece of their own. Sadly, she did not create one for 2014, tweeting earlier this month that 2013 was her last and adding that the process of creating these six- to seven-minute videos would begin as early as August - quite an impressive undertaking. But while she's moved on to cutting movie trailers now, I wanted to take a look back at her filmography videos for 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 - each one a mix of humorous and heartbreaking moments - to show how something as simple as a compilation of movie clips can be »
