The past of several Raza crew members comes into clearer focus in Episode 8, the best episode of the series so far, and we’re in the thick of it before the opening credits roll. Six is off the ship, hunting down the general responsible for the massacre of 10,000 civilians, and fatally shot – then disintegrates while the killers argue, as they needed him alive. #TCA15: Meet Emily Beecham, The Widow of AMC’s “Into the Badlands”

31 July 2015 5:40 PM, PDT

AMC’s upcoming drama series Into the Badlands (premiering Nov. 15) is a genre-bending martial arts, sci-fi action odyssey about a distant future in which the only inhabitable lands are in the former American Midwest, and they’re governed by seven feudal Barons who control vital resources. In the series, Emily Beecham plays The Widow (it’s not just a scary name!), one of the Barons of the Badlands. She controls the oil, and her ambitions disrupt the tenuous peace among the Barons. The Widow has the look of a Steampunk Southern belle with a twist of The Matrix warrior/dominatrix and two deadly daggers as her weapons of choice. “My character … Continue reading →

“Blunt Talk” releases the full comic force of Sir Patrick Stewart

31 July 2015 5:01 PM, PDT

Whether he’s on the bridge of the USS Enterprise as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation, leading heroic mutants as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men films, or performing on the classical stage, Sir Patrick Stewart is an imposing presence, bringing gravitas and authority to his roles. Providing the voices of Stonecutter Number One on The Simpsons and CIA deputy director Avery Bullock on American Dad!, and guest-starring as a slightly off-kilter version of himself on Ricky GervaisExtras, Stewart proved he can take that gravitas and flip it on its head. Stewart makes his biggest flip … Continue reading →

It turns out that Craig Robinson’s (The Office) new NBC comedy has more in common with its star than just a name. Interview: Edward Burns writes what he knows (and loves) in TNT’s Public Morals

31 July 2015 9:17 AM, PDT

To ask Edward Burns how long he has been working on his richly detailed new TNT drama Public Morals is a complex thing. After all, Burns is a proud Irish-American and native New Yorker, raised up on Long Island as the son of an NYPD cop and the great-grandson of a bona fide Hell’s Kitchen bruiser. Thus, the Catholic schoolboy turned respected actor/filmmaker has always had tales of Irish-American cops and criminals percolating in his mind — and spilling out into screenplays. And now he has 10 episodes, a stellar cast rich with the New York-bred talent he insisted upon … Continue reading →

What will we do without Jonnie Stew? The Daily Show Daily Show Full Episodes,  More Daily Show Videos,  Comedy Central Full Episodes   Sure, I thought the same of Stephen Colbert and The Colbert Report back in December, but my mourning was tempered with the understanding that I’m getting Stephen back next month in Letterman’s place. Skin Wars Season 2 Episode 7: Blacklights & teams!

29 July 2015 7:30 PM, PDT

Skin Wars Season 2 Episode 7 begins with a circus challenge. Kyle is an aerial ice skater, which I don’t quite get, but he’s really excited for this week’s challenge. This makes me nervous for his chances today. Don’t take away my quirky Kyle yet! (And don’t be so obvious. Contestant loves challenge = they’re going home. We get it.) These classic circus paints are meant to appear in front of a circus themed background. Aryn goes with a person shooting out of a cannon. Avi does a lizard woman. Cheryl Ann does a balancing elephant. Lana does a sword … Continue reading →

The death of a beloved, humanized Zimbabwean lion named Cecil at the hands of an American hunter has sparked outrage everywhere from Twitter to Jimmy Kimmel’s emotional thoughts on the subject during his show last night. Nat Geo Wild today announced that, in response to Cecil the Lion’s tragic death, the network will commemorate World Lion Day on Aug. 10 with a lineup of big cat programming to “remind viewers why these vital apex predators are so important to protect.” (Note that these shows are not directly about Cecil, but about lions in general.) “Nat Geo Wild has supported the National Geographic … Continue reading →

#TCA15: Who let the freaks out? Todrick!

29 July 2015 8:39 AM, PDT

MTV unleashes the freaks! Todrick Hall @toddyrockstar lights it up at #TCA15. pic.twitter.com/1nvu7Hx4iB — Channel Guide (@ChannelGuide) July 29, 2015 On a Wednesday morning at the TCA Summer Press Tour, there’s nothing that will wake a person up faster than “Who Let the Freaks Out?” I grew up in the 1980s, and it was my understanding that the freaks came out at night, not at 9am on a Wednesday. So I had to pose the question to YouTube star Todrick Hall, who is getting his own MTV series premiering Aug. 31. Me: Hi, guys. Good morning. First question, who did let the freaks … Continue reading →

Animal Planet statement on passing of Kipenzi the Giraffe

Back in April, Animal Planet live-streamed and aired live the birth of a giraffe at the Dallas Zoo. Yesterday, sadly, that young giraffe — named Kipenzi — died in an accident that occurred while she was running in her enclosure. Animal Planet issued the following statement this morning: “Like our friends and fellow animal lovers at the Dallas Zoo and around the world, Animal Planet is completely heartbroken after learning of the tragic news of Kipenzi’s death. “The 24×7 coverage we offered of Katie’s pregnancy and Kipenzi’s birth was one of the most exciting and beautiful projects we have undertaken … Continue reading →

Scream episode 5 recap: Broken ties

29 July 2015 8:10 AM, PDT

On the last episode of MTV’s Scream, Emma’s first time with Will was uploaded to everyone’s phone through Nina’s laptop. While trying to figure out who was responsible for recording her, she gets a phone call from Ghostface. Seems like he might be a suspect. as well. My guess is that Jake has something to do with this little video and Nina wasn’t so innocent either. There’s a new detective on the case — an old friend of the Sheriff’s. While at the vigil she asks Emma if she’d be able to stop by the sheriff’s office to speak with … Continue reading →
