Industry report on Korean Cinema (June 2015)

We present the monthly industry report on South Korean Cinema.

Overview

This month more than 14 million people attended the South Korean cinemas, resulting in sales over 103 million dollars. Once again Foreign Films came on top with 60 % of the market (8.4 million admissions) gathering $64 million dollars. Korean Films were watched by the 40% of the public (5.6 million admissions) getting more than $40 million dollars.

Taking into account the numbers obtain this month with the ones from 2014 we can see that there is a small decrease in the industry. The total number of admissions decrease 11.03%. Despite this the total admissions for Korean Films had an increase of 26.46%. It also manage to get more market share than in 2014. Foreign Films shown a decrease of 25% and lost market share something rare during this months.
