The Fate of Tara on True Blood: Sort of Revealed!

3 June 2012 7:18 AM, PDT

In case it wasn't already obvious from these True Blood episode descriptions, creator Alan Ball has now made it clear:

"Tara is still part of the show," he told TV Guide last week, in reference to Rutina Wesley's character, who was shot in the head to close True Blood Season 4.

In what capacity, however? That remains the question.

A vampire? A ghost? A regular human being? Neither Ball nor Wesley will say, but the actress did tease that fans will need to prepare for a difference in Sookie and Tara's relationship no matter what state the latter is in.

"That's going to be the interesting part to watch: Tara's reaction to Sookie and Sookie's reaction to Tara," Wesley says. "All I can say is it's charged."

True Blood is back with new episodes on June 10. »

Kathryn Joosten, Veteran Desperate Housewives Actress, Passes Away at 72

2 June 2012 1:12 PM, PDT

Kathryn Joosten, a veteran actress best known for roles on The West Wing and Desperate Housewives, passed away yesterday in Westlake Village, California from lung cancer. She was 72.

The multiple-time Emmy Award winner portrayed Karen McKluskey for many years on Wisteria Lane, actually succumbing on that series during its final season as well.

Prior to that beloved role, Joosten served as Mrs. Landingham, the main secretary to Martin Sheen’s President Bartlet, on The West Wing. That character also famously died to close that show's second season.

Joosten also appeared on Scrubs, My Name Is Earl, Joan of Arcadia and Dharma & Greg. Our thoughts go out to her family. »

Kevin Williamson Teases Phoebe Tonkin on The Vampire Diaries, Confirms End of The Secret Circle

2 June 2012 8:47 AM, PDT

Oh, Kevin Williamson, you tease.

In an interview with IGN, mostly focused on his upcoming Fox series The Following, this super producer took time to answer a few questions about The Vampire Diaries - and whet the appetites of fans with one intriguing possibility.

After first crushing the dreams of Secret Circle viewers hoping to somehow save the canceled CW drama ("I am so sorry to all the fans, but that show is gone."), Williamson turned to that show's breakout star, referred to Phoebe Tonkin as "awesome" and added:

"I want her on Vampire Diaries. I ought to write her in."

Whoa. Yes, Kevin. Yes, you should!

It might be too early to get overly excited over the possibility, but we can't help it. Would you want to see Tonkin in Mystic Falls? »

Fairly Legal Review: Disaster's Looming

2 June 2012 2:00 AM, PDT

"Borderline" had Kate Reed headed in a direction that a year ago would have made me very happy. But fast forward to the present and that same decision left me cold.

When Kate told Justin she was looking for a casual fling between them with no complications you could tell by the look on his face that he wanted more. He's wanted more from the very beginning of the show but being back in Kate's bed made agreeing to her terms worth it. Still, I knew that wouldn't last long.

I've always liked Justin and rooted for him and Kate to find their way back. But for a man with such an innate sense of right and wrong, the revelation that he cheated on her definitely put a damper on those hopes. With that in the back of my mind and even though I knew he was joking with Lauren, »

Chyler Leigh Issues Statement on Grey's Anatomy Exit

1 June 2012 11:42 PM, PDT

According to TV Fanatics, it was the most heartbreaking season finale death of them all. By far.

And now Chyler Leigh has spoken out for the first time about her emotional exit, which took place on the Grey's Anatomy Season 8 finale and still has fans reeling.

"I met with Shonda and we worked together to give Lexie's story appropriate closure. I am very lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for five seasons. Common Law Review: Deadly Dates

1 June 2012 9:25 PM, PDT

We all know dating is dangerous, and online dating even more so.

If anything, this week's Common Law begged the question: is online really the place for "Soul Mates" to  be made?

For Darby Jetson, the answer was a resounding no.

For Wes, the answer is an debatable maybe. The discovery of Alex's profile on the Dating Salon seemingly prevented the possibility of their reconciliation. Though this certainty waned when Wes' own profile, set up by Travis, revealed Wes' ex-wife as one of his potential matches.

There is definitely a possibility that these two could work things out. Alex seemed to express in the pilot that there might be a discussion about them getting back together if Wes agreed to give up the badge, which we all know he's unwilling to do. It's clear Wes needed to make a clean break to get some perspective on the situation, which he »

Person of Interest Season One Report Card: A-

1 June 2012 1:03 PM, PDT

Person of Interest became one of the few bona fide hits of TV's 2011-12 freshman class.

With an intriguing premise and a pair of outstanding leads in Michael Emerson and Jim Caviezel, it delivered on all fronts. What were the high points? What do hope to see in 2012-2013? What would we change?

Read on as we grade Person of Interest's first season in TV Fanatic's Report Card series.

-------------------------------------------

Best Character: While I truly think the characters are entertaining in their own rights and even have Detective Fusco up on the list, I have to go with John Reese. It might seem predictable because he's the series lead, but the guy knows how to kick ass with such a cool swagger that it never gets old watching him do it every single episode.

Plus, there's plenty of backstory and humanity, so he's not just a walking Terminator.

Much like Juliet's father (played by William Shatner), Lloyd has a bit of a criminal past.

What's with Juliet's mother's taste? And when will we meet her?

There's plenty more scoop where this came from, fans. Check back in the coming days for tons more Psych spoilers from Season 7 and my detailed diary of our set visit! »

Katia Winter Cast in Recurring Role on Dexter

1 June 2012 5:06 AM, PDT

Katia Winter is joining Dexter‘s Season 7 cast in a recurring role.

She will play a Russian stripper who works in a Miami club. Winter, who starred alongside Kellan Lutz in last year's Hunger Games-esque action thriller Arena, also appeared on NCIS in February.

Winter joins fellow newcomer Ray Stevenson, who was recently cast a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who arrives in Miami determined to learn who killed one of his associates.

Jason Gedrick, meanwhile, will play the owner of the club where Winter’s character works. Winter's role, first reported by TV Line, should be prominent when Dexter returns on Sunday, September 30.

Touch Review: Plot a New Course

1 June 2012 2:26 AM, PDT

The season finale of Touch started off with the adventures of 29,000 rubber duckies and ended with a meeting on a pier. "Gyre" took viewers on a ride that introduced new twists and brought back familiar faces.

The most interesting twists had to do with the mysterious Amelia. Looks like she's not dead and has most likely been playing with toy cars in room six. Or at least she was. If Amelia's alive it's anyone's guess where she is now. I doubt Sheri or her puppet masters at Aster Corp. would risk keeping her at the board and care facility with Clea and Martin sniffing around.

Sheri stopped straddling the line and embraced her evil persona but without any information about why she'd push the children in her care beyond their limits it was hard to understand her motivations. I'd prefer to know what makes my villains tick.

And what of Aster Corp. »

Rookie Blue Review: We Can't All Be Poster Boys

1 June 2012 12:22 AM, PDT

Rookie Blue was back and better than ever as "Class Dismissed" had everyone's relationships in flux and no one was on solid ground.

After last week's episode, I was glad to see Sam and Andy looking so happy and spending time in Andy's bed. After their cold start in the season premiere it was a relief to know things had heated up between our dynamic duo.

Andy was really playing the girl card as she got insecure about Sam taking off to meet up with Jerry. Was she seriously pushing for them to move in together already? It certainly felt like it.

I loved when Sam deflected her serious relationship conversation with the mention of yoga class. I just can't picture Sam doing yoga. Then again, I might like to picture Sam doing yoga.

Sam brought Andy back to reality when in this Rookie Blue quote he explained where his head was at… »

Kate Walsh to Exit Private Practice After Season 6

31 May 2012 6:10 PM, PDT

ABC is yet to announce that the 13-episode sixth season of Private Practice will be the show's last, but it's sure beginning to look that way.

Just days after Tim Daly confirmed he would not be returning to the ABC drama, Deadline now reports that star Kate Walsh is also on her way out. She'll exit the series after these 13 episodes are over.

It's been known for some time that Walsh was interested in pursuing other avenues, considering she's played the character of Addison Montgomery for seven years when you account for her time on Grey's Anatomy.

But without ABC or Shonda Rhimes revealing whether the show will fold up without its lead, the question now must be asked: Should it? Should Private Practice go on without Kate Walsh? »

Necessary Roughness Scoop: Callie Thorne on the Strength of Dr. Dani

31 May 2012 12:20 PM, PDT

After scoring the scoop on the Atlanta set of Necessary Roughness from Ep Kevin Dowling and actors Mehcad Brooks and Scott Cohen, Sean McKenna is now here to wrap up his interviews with various cast members from this USA hit.

And who should finish it off by the leading lady herself, Callie Thorne.

--------------------------------

Thorne's excitement and enthusiasm for a second season was as infectious as her smile when she talked about slipping back into the role of caring therapist, Dr. Dani Santino.

"This was the first time coming back into the second season of a show, being number-one on the call sheet and I was very nervous about that... really I think what our cast, what we all respond to the most is laughing with each other and even if it’s dramatic scenes or silly scenes, that’s how we get into it with each other and I »
