'Mad Men': Jon Hamm, Jessica Pare, and Matt Weiner on Megan's 'threatening' independence
7 April 2013 6:00 AM, PDT
Hey, sad Don Draper. You’re at a bar. You’re alone. You’re perhaps disappointed with your young wife’s recent decisions. Enter: Attractive Woman. “Are you alone?” she asks coyly. Cut to black.
The last image of Mad Men’s fifth season is a hard one to forget. Though we don’t know anything concrete about what decision Don made that night, opening the door for another affair was at turns dismaying, ominous, and so familiar. And it’s hard not to trace it back to Megan and some sort of undefined, fundamental disconnect in their relationship. There »

When we have questions, we go to the man with all the answers — our resident Game of Thrones expert James Hibberd. James calls in to the newest edition of the InsideTV Podcast to chat all things Westeros. »

Did 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' get a new title?
6 April 2013 8:19 PM, PDT
Joss Whedon fans found something intriguing buried in ABC’s website for advertisers: A page touting its heavily buzzed pilot S.H.I.E.L.D. revealing a new title and a more detailed description (below).
The title: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. A network representative tells EW that this title is not yet official. Keep in mind that titles often change during the development process (remember how Fox’s The Mindy Project was originally called It’s Messy?). At the very least, however, this title made it through enough layers of network approval to get previewed to Madison Avenue, and we hear this is »

6 April 2013 6:00 AM, PDT
Somewhere between tweeting, blogging, and bringing her instructional series Martha Bakes and Martha’s Cooking School to PBS (check local listings), Martha Stewart has managed to squeeze in a few more passions. Namely, marathon viewings of Homeland and Ryan Gosling.
But what elevates the domestic goddess’s binge-watching from that of your everyday entertainment junkie is her method: “I have a big TV in my kitchen, so I can do canning or make jam. That takes hours and hours, and I can watch Homeland, all 13 episodes .”
Fellow PBS program Downton Abbey is another addiction. “It’s a soap opera, but there are no grammatical mistakes, »

'Hannibal' ratings: Better than NBC expected?
5 April 2013 8:29 AM, PDT
Hannibal performed better last night than many had feared given its brutal time period.
Coming in third place in NBC’s 10 p.m. Thursday “death slot” against original episodes of ABC’s Scandal and CBS’ Elementary, the new crime drama had 4.3 million viewers and a 1.6 in the adult demo. That’s NBC’s best rating in the hour with entertainment programming in more than a year. It’s up 78 percent from the debut of the short-lived Do No Harm in January and climbed 45 percent from its special Go On lead-in.
What’s surprising is that NBC decided not to give »

NBC's 'Hannibal' contains 'The Shining' shout-outs
4 April 2013 5:18 PM, PDT
Tonight’s premiere of NBC’s Hannibal (see Jeff Jensen’s review here) is probably one of the most Stanley Kubrick-ian hours of TV ever made. Showrunner Bryan Fuller was heavily influenced by late filmmaker genius and has filled his new series with subtle (and not-so-subtle) homages to Kubrick’s work. Hannibal is particularly influenced by one of Kubrick’s most commercially successful films — 1980′s The Shining. In fact, there’s even one set (photos above) that’s directly inspired by a famous moment in the film. Below Fuller talks about Kubrick and the filmmaker’s influence on the show, »

Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio developing Gorbachev pic with HBO Films
4 April 2013 4:36 PM, PDT
The Cold War has captivated our imaginations and taken over our television sets. But instead of stylish spies in disguise, HBO Films is taking the biopic route.
HBO Films confirmed Thursday they are developing a movie about former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev with the help of Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. Neither actor will be donning that distinctive birthmark, though. They’re just helping to make sure the project comes to life through their respective production companies — DiCaprio’s Appian Way, and Hanks’ Playtone. This news was first reported by Deadline.
The film will chronicle Gorbachev’s time as president »
